scooby845
Yesterday I browsed Tokyo 1992 and 1993 setlists. And I noticed they barely differ at all. One or two songs at best. And on top of that all, it's only like 20 or less songs in the length. That's like 6 shows almost identically the same. Also on the 1993 legs of UYI, Nightrain and ISO are heavily left out. Perhaps some of you careen towards UYI because of the novelty back then and Axl's voice... ...but NITL heavily outweighs UYI for me. It spans up to 28 songs and we get deep-cuts and all the hits. The only bad thing is CD songs (in case of 3+) What do you think? Edited May 25, 2018 by scooby845

Popular Post Towelie
28 songs sounding ropey as fuck vs. 18 songs sounding like one of the greatest rock singers of all time?? UYI every damn time. 5 1
North Korean Democracy
UYI setlists after Izzy left were pretty bad. The only big change was the opening song. NITL easily wins here. I don't know why ppl complain so much about the variety of the setlists when GNR never really stood out in that regard, not even in their prime. Kwick1
Having seen AFD in '89, UYI in '91 which included about 1/2 AFD. I vote NITL since it spans all era's of GnR including CD. there's more great material and the shows are at minimum twice as long.

Gackt
NITL for all the ChiDem tracks, UYI for being a shorter set.
WhazUp
NITL in terms of if I had to see a single show, which setlist I would choose
janrichmond
UYI. Yes the set was shorter but there were no boring bits (except for maybe the drum solo)

It looks good on paper that they're performing Coma and Estranged every night, but what does it mean when Axl can't really do it justice. NITL is quantity over quality. I'd rather a shorter 18 track set of songs he can actually pull off these days and leave the vocal epics like Coma and TWAT in the past.
ChristmasFnatic
Considering that GN'R's peak was during the UYI era, and I dislike CD, then UYI. Atleast theres variety, and a very slim chance they play Locomotive.

Even if they cut the NITL setlist down to 18 songs, Axl would still auto-pilot songs like SCOM and YCBM...

But as a setlist it's hard to fault the NITL imagine if you are seeing gnr for the first time! That's a great all rounder set no matter what era you prefer.

The first live performance of 'Coma'. Axl says how it was ex-manager Alan Niven's idea to tour before the new record came out. Axl goes off on Mötley Crüe.
