Why is Axl so calm and happy nowadays?

Recommended Posts

Maybe Chinese Democracy's limited musical success, and practically no political impact proved to Axl, in line with an old adage I think, that he couldn't change the world, but he could change himself. He's always been into a bit of Buddhism hasn't he.

Funnily enough, in a weird rather than humorous way, I read a novelist Rick Bass article in the American Way magazine yesterday, about visiting several legendary authors.

Bass concluded, with relevance to Axl's maturation: 'I have no doubts that these were the veterans of many struggles, but in their 60s (Axl's nearly there!), 70s, 80s and 90s, they appeared to have come out the other side intact, even strengthened. They had both a gravity and a lightness of being , a confidence born of humility rather than arrogance. They looked at the world with a humor that in no way diminished their ability to see its hard edges.'

I reckon the tour is missing the odd axl rant every now and again.

The Like/Dislike ratio on the video is funny, didn't know Metallica fans were so thin-skinned

My hypothesis is that Axl is so happy because Myles Kennedy showed him some new vocal techniques and rejuvinated his career.

Myles' vocal technique consists of singing entirely through his nose. I don't think Axl's Mickey voice is anywhere near that bad, thankfully.
