Final thoughts on NITL tour

way too long and overdone, i think the initial hype might of overtaken my expectations.

Part of me wishes they never reunited to keep that mystic to the band but im not sure

What mystic are you referring to? Because GNR in 2014 (and for a few years at that time) was playing half-empty casinos with a fat-Elvis Axl butchering November Rain on a flying piano. Plus Ashba was a joke during those years. I’m a huge fan of NuGNR but I believe the reunion happened at the right time( besides 2006 or 2010 obviously). The band was going nowhere and the members (Tommy and Ron specially) were like prisoners and didn’t want to be there anymore. If I had to choose between the 2014 band (and playing empty arenas) or having Duff and Slash to do a huge stadium world tour, I’d choose the later.

The only thing I miss about nuGNR is that all this corporate BS and all the casual fans wasn’t around. It was like a small circle of hardcore fans and nothing else. Plus the band was much more intimate and friendly to the fans. But leaving that aside, we weren’t getting new music either.

So I’d pick the reunion by far. I think GNR lost its “mystic” the day they played Rock in Rio IV.

I agree with this. I think people saying they wish the reunion didn't happen are being somewhat selfish, especially if they saw the band back in the day.

As someone who is in their early 20's and got into the band in 08, i followed the Nuguns thing post-CD, saw them twice. And while it was fun at first, and I enjoyed CD, it all died for me at Bridge school. Rio was a blip but bridge school was it for me until the reunion and Axl/DC happened. The hype around these parts, the mood at the shows and the shows themselves have hugely outclassed what NuGnR was doing in my time of following the band.

Sure, we can look back at fonder times before CD came, when nuguns had promise, but some people really do forget how bad things were circa '13-14.

Was in agreement with you up until this.

The relationship between band and fans has been nothing short of appalling since I started following the band in 03 (except Ron's personal involvement). The only thing that makes the relationship seem worse now that Guns as a brand are much more visible and because there are so many more markets/fans engaged with it, it is really shown to be lacklustre.

Fully agree with your last point though, Rock in Rio IV really felt like the final nail in the coffin for new-GNR. An overweight Axl sounding horrific (especially compared to how great 2010 sounded) and a complete lack of preparation. Had it not been for the re-introduction of Estranged, I really think it would go down as the worst GNR show in history.

Have just seen a set list appear on eBay from the Leipzig show (apparently it’s duffs on-stage setlist) and it shows OMG on the options - is this common knowledge?! I haven’t come across this before, amazed that they were even considering OMG...

Been on there a while, people on here say its meant to be an in-band joke
