Will the GNR reunion negatively impact Slash's solo band?

As always, you're too fixated on the UK. They played about 5 or 6 shows an hour away from me by car in a two year span on this tour.

Well it is relevant as I am in the United Kingdom. I'm not exactly going to get in a car and drive to Rotterdam or some other place in the low countries, am I, if London was not possible?

Pertaining to my own situation (and I imagine many more) it was impossible to see the NITLT, whereas it was quite possible to see The Stones (or historically the Illusion Tour). Would I go if it was possible? Nah, the cricket seasons on.

So, bringing this conversation back to its untimely topic, if Slash plays markets like Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow he'll basically be playing new markets.

I wouldn't drive to Rotterdam either, that's a two hour car drive from here, too far for me. Especially when there were several Western German, Belgian, and two Nijmegen shows that were all an hour away from where I live.

But you said that this tour has been very selective and I don't think it has. I realize not everyone is as lucky as me and had this many shows these past two years near them, but just because the north of the UK had a raw deal, doesn't mean it has been the same way in other places. It's impossible to play every area, unless they continue this tour for another five years. (and I wouldn't put it past them, another reason not to release any new material)

Well that is what I think will actually happen, with constantly decreasing capacities/prices. Team Brazil will flog the markets to death.

if anything i think itll help ticket sales... i personally cant stand myles so wont be going but maybe a few old school gnr fans that had no idea smkc even existed, got wind of it after nitl and will go check them out... i think there would be more of those than people that say oh ill just wait for gnr to come back around my way again

I'm excited to see slash at a smaller and more affordable venue.

I think the solo thing normally doesn't help artists, but how many artists were out of the band they were best known for for 20 years?  kinda feels like slash is an exception  to this just because his career was so different than a Joe Perry or whoever.

as far as GNR songs go, I'm sure he'll play paradise city, but I'm really hoping he does some deeper cuts like locomotive or something like that.  I'm totally cool if he keeps it to a maximum of 3 gnr songs.

I think it may have a small impact. Obviously most people aren't gonna care to go hear Myles Kennedy sing half of a GN'R song (I can't state how much it annoys me that he does that shit where he'll have the audience sing it for him so damn often), when they can hear the person who wrote it sing it with Slash - no matter Axl's current vocal state, because 90% of the casual fans don't give a shit.

But Slash does have plenty of his own material between his solo projects and VR to still make it a great show, so I think he'll still draw a good crowd when he rolls into town. After all, he is still recognized of one of the few shining beacons left of sleazy hard rock to the casuals.

Why you'd have Myles as your singer when you have Todd Kerns in your band completely escapes me. I'm from Canada so have been following Todd's career since I was like 13. He almost produced my album but unfortunately it didn't work out. But I saw Slash n crew on their first tour and Todd did all the heavy lifting with his back up vocals. He's 10 times the singer Myles is IMO dude has voodoo in his voice and is a much better song writer too. But hey Slash wants what he wants.

Don't think they will be doing arenas anymore with the GNR saturation but cool theatres n such. I'd probably go but Myles voice grates on me more than Axl's weak falsetto these days. But on his own songs he is a pretty good singer, but he wasn't meant to sing GNR. He sounds like a drowning old lady and dying cat put together.

I'd figure it's because Myles has that radio friendly sound and image where the stuff is more likely to get mainstream exposure.

Agree though that the band would sound much more exciting if Todd was doing a lot more lead vocals.

Some of the Age of Electric stuff is excellent.

Has anyone else noticed quite a bit of negativity on social media from fans about the new SMKC album? Many comments from fans complaining about Myles Kennedy and the lack of new music from Guns.

It's debatable as to whether Slash deserves any backlash for continuing to be creative with SMKC, considering the lack of new music from GNR (and lets face it, we all know who's fault that is).

But it'd be interesting to see if Slash's solo band still manage to draw in the same crowds that they pulled prior to the reunion. A lot of fans went to those shows to see Slash performing GNR songs. They will almost certainly have lost that part of the crowd, seeing as GNR fans can now see Slash perform with Axl.

Prior to the reunion, SMKC was gaining some serious traction, having gone from playing theatres on the AL tour to arenas on the WOF tour. But is there really the demand for a Slash & Myles show in 2018, when Slash has just come off from 2yrs of touring with GNR?

When did SMKC play arenas?

Here in Boston they are playing the same size clubs they have played on previous tours.

On a positive note tickets are sold out for the upcoming show at the House of Blues. Only re-sale tickets are left.

He played bigger venues and arenas basically everywhere outside of the states.

I kmow that they did theaters, I just never knew got to headline Arenas.

In the U.S. I think the GNR Tour has him selling more tickets to his solo shows. His show at House of Blues in Boston is sold out already even though he is playing a free show close by at Mohegan Sun Casino the week before.

I think it will help their sales. Fans of GnR may decide to go check out a show or buy the album, curious what it sounds like.

It's a smart move.

If GnR released an album I'd say his sales wouldn't be as high as most will buy that. There's also genuine fans of his and or that band.

In Spain they've played in small clubs, only once in a big theater in Madrid

They played in clubs in front of 2000 - 6000 people but also bigger places with over 10000 of people. just a few examples:

Basically you just have to check their tour stops outside of the states
