marunic 27 Posted August 13, 2018 This song top-down is brilliant; the changes, the guitars, Axl's vocals, bass Had Axl stuck with the Oh my God theme (heavy industrial metalish sound) for CD the album could of been 100x better, i think the initial reaction to oh my god put him off industrial which ultimately was a mistake. People were expecting CD to be from the beginning some sort of Appetite classic rocker album (thank god it wasn't) but it seemed Axl wanted to advance as a musician (CD being much more complex than appetite in general) 12

I just wasn't willing to give a Slash-less GN'R a try when OMG was released. A couple years later I broke down and listened to it a few times. LOVED it from that moment on and it ended up being the thing that left me far more open to the future of Guns w/o Slash. 4

I feel this song is underrated in some way and I would like to see how it would have ended in a actual album. Also, I hope this song is featured in a new GNR album if there is one in the making. Sosso 3,029 Posted August 13, 2018 My favourite part is at the 02:52 mark. I love that bass line.

soon 5,065 Posted August 13, 2018 It deserves a better mix. I've never been a huge fan of OMG but listening just now, I liked it more then ever before. I also enjoy the newer version. The mix on the official release has surprising parallels with UYI in that the girth of the hard rock power is sacrificed in the mix to leave room for 'sound effects' and Axl Rose-isms. The guitars and bass are limited in frequency along with a lot of the instruments. I really like the guitar part in the verses and while I'd go for the guitar being mixed somewhat as it is, Id like a bit more presence. On the final mix of CD, to my ears, they revert back to something a bit more like a SFTD sound. Hmm, even including 2 lead guitars.
Free Bird 1,485 Posted August 13, 2018 I think it's way overrated here on the forum. Never was a fan of it.
Rovim 3,591 Posted August 13, 2018 cool tune. always liked it and the movie was so shitty it was nice to at least hear the song in the credits. I didn't know at the time guns did a song for the movie. I almost consider it a part of the album. would have been cool if there were more tunes in that style on the album. DieselDaisy 14,016 Posted August 13, 2018 (edited) The film missed a great opportunity in having Arnie say ''go to heeelll'' before machine gunning Satan. Edited August 13, 2018 by DieselDaisy
Spirit 452 Posted August 13, 2018 Best lyrics Axl ever wrote.
ApacheChief42 26 Posted August 13, 2018 Great song. I think the 2001 version is an improvement to the "demo" on End of Days. That Bumblefoot remix could've definitely benefited from a better mix as well.
Silent Jay 3,151 Posted August 13, 2018 Very cool song.
SoundOfAGun 621 Posted August 13, 2018 Agree with the comments about the mix, it is pretty shit. The guitar tones and like a swarm of bees fighting a packet of razor blades in a tin can. And the vocal treatment is not good, but it has venom and is a perfect slice of paranoid Axl at his batshit best. CD could have done with a few more like this, but with better mixes and production. UYI4 10 Posted August 13, 2018 glad I bought the hard copy of the soundtrack when it came out. With digital stuff so easily disappearing, glad I have backups and hard copies of songs like this
GNR 1991 504 Posted August 13, 2018 Love OMG. Even the two live versions we have are excellent (esp. Rio where Axl ends the song without the band).
Wabby 9 Posted August 13, 2018 I remember when it finally came out on Apple Music in the US and thought for sure it would come to Canada, unfortunately years have passed and it still not available on Canada Apple Music. I did buy the End of days soundtrack when it first got released
DTJ80 75 Posted August 13, 2018 Funnily enough I put this on my iPhone last night to listen to it today as it’s not on Apple Music etc. I have always liked this tune and effectively bought the soundtrack on release just for that song (so about £15 for one song!!!!)!! The other versions that have shown up over the years have somehow passed me by - despite endless trawling to find something to listen to. You folk who have them - count yourselves very fortunate!! 😭 Whats different about the other two versions????
