In the meantime, something to cool off.
Isn’t this brutally low-res and yet somehow absolutely awesome image absolutely awesome?
Have a nice evening / morning / midday / whatever, fellow GNR earthlings.

It is, except for the cigarette holder.  It's like the scene in Casino where Pesci admonishes De Niro for using one.

Hey, so what’s happening. Is there some censorship going on?

I may be a bit drunk, but I know I just made a little rant about Ja*mo and his pathetic site in the other thread (since someone asked about him) – and I can’t find it any more all of a sudden.

Wtf. Hope this is just some kind of misunderstanding or something...

Long live GNR. See ya tomorrow.

Edit: I'm hoping for some kind of explanation...

We've never allowed insults toward Jarmo or his site. Discuss him and his site all you want, but there's no need to hurl insults at him. That's been our policy for a very long time.

Appetite for Democracy is currently on Sky Arts. I just fired it on and Don’t Let It Bring You Down was being played. Pretty sure that was left out of the release.

Were any other songs chopped from the release? I can’t understand why it would be on a broadcast but not the official release?

Axl sounded pretty bad on that song, but it was still a good Niel Young impression

You know, I actually liked a few of the performances of it. This one in particular was utter shite, but still baffled that it was included in the broadcast!!!

I think it was due to royalties etc that it was cut out, I seem to remember there was a thing back when it was about to be released that Neil Young's camp were playing hard ball. I've got the DVD somewhere, but the broadcast included guitar jams etc, I'd guess that was all removed from the official release. I'd need to watch to confirm though!

Yea to be fair I liked a couple performances of it, and it is weird that it was broadcast. I don't think I've ever seen a pro-shot of that particular version, but I've heard the soundboard recording from 10~ days earlier (the one that was broadcast on Sirius xm) and I remember it being a better version.

@DieselDaisy you seem like the biggest Niel Young fan around here, what'd you think of Axl's impression on that song?

I’ve had this weird experience (it wasn’t the first time). There’s a bunch of online radio stations I listen to. I mean, I turn it on while doing something else, without really paying attention to it. Don’t remember the names, but the only criterion I had was it had to be sort of gravitating around rock or so, not too intrusive etc., just some background music, right? One of the stations (from Florida, I think) occasionally throws in some interesting tune, and I’ve discovered (or re-discovered) several artists thanks to that.

But to the point – it’s not a radio where GN'R would be played very often. It has happened, mainly some smooth UYI stuff like NR, but it’s really very seldom. And a few days ago, I suddenly heard Street of Dreams. My first impulse was to tune over, but then it sort of absorbed me... and it was wonderful. I’m sure you guys know this particular experience – as if you’re listening to the thing through someone else’s ears, because it comes from a source where it wasn’t quite expected.

And I realized that despite all the shit we’ve been through with this band as fans, there’s still magic. Yep, it’s there. And where there’s magic, there’s hope.

My head’s throbbing with a hangover, I hope this makes some sense.

Have a great one.

It's taken me 15 years but Don't Damn Me has finally really grown on me.

I used to always skip it when I was younger.

It could have maybe even been on Appetite, or at least a terrific B-side in that era.

Don't Damn Me and Breakdown were the last two to grow on me. There's tracks that still haven't and I have to assume never will, but those were the last two.

The more I listen to the end run of UYI, the more I love Don't Damn Me. It just fixed perfectly there.

I totally know what you mean.  I was watching MTV classic and the SCOM vid came on and I said to myself "right there, that's the reason".  Just need a reminder sometimes.

Anyone listen to Slash's Universal Horror Album? Its surprisngly cool. He does some not very "slash" guitar parts there, maybe because he has to restrain himself since he is just a cog in the machine, as opposed to being the main driving mattwr in the music

"The Danse of the Dead" is probably the best "song" as a whole

"We Belong Dead" he does some very unusual (for him) arpeggio after the whole dubstep thing, starting at 2:00. At first I thought he sweep picking lol but hes just picking everything

"Sweet Licks" he does some cool ambient guitar lead echo in the intro and throughout

The Danse of the Dead is cool

It reminded me of some of Buckethead's 'Pike' albums. It's definitely a cool project and I hope he does more stuff like that in the future.

Right? I was mildly inpressed by him for doing something weird out of his bluesy rock bubble that actually was pretty decent.

Guess he wouldnt be so out of his element playing on Axls weirder CD songs

Here’s a spicy one

I didn’t really care about most of the instrumentals leaked last summer. I listened to some of them only out of curiosity and then never again. Unfinished and without vocals I had very little interest and couldn’t even tell you one from the other. This is coming from a major Chinese fan.

Same here on all counts. I'm a really big CD fan, but I'm not even sure I listened to every instrumental.

You're missing out on a lot of really cool ChiDem style songs & riffs

Honestly, the only instrumentals that piqued my interest were Elvis and Dummy. It was cool to hear Sorry's instrumental too.
