Songs That Seem Innocent Enough....

Recommended Posts

I heard that song All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You by Heart come on the radio today and didn't realize how fucked up that song is lyrically! Basically tells the tale of a woman who has a one night stand with a man, she then seeks him out a few years later to basically tell him she slept with him to get pregnant....and oh yeah i'm in love with another man who can't get me pregnant so you were basically a seamen donor buddy!

Got me thinking what are some other songs that seem harmless/jovial enough but are a little risque lyrically?

I think Laupers She Bop was that for a lot of young people. I know Ive heard lots of songs like that, but I cant bring them to mind. The Kinks have lots, Arnold Lane by Pink Floyd, some Dead.

But this Celine Dion track while already a bit lusty, just suddenly drops this line at around 4:18 and its like *record scratch* What did Celine get up too that she'd never do again and is maybe illegal?!?!

"There were moments of gold and there were flashes of light
There were things I'd never do again
But then they'd always seemed right
There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than any laws allow
Baby, baby"

Y'know, I never listened to ZZ Top in my life.  Another big band that kinda passed me by.

The theme song from Cheers

Making your way in the world today
Takes everything you've got
Taking a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot
Wouldn't you like to get away?

All those nights when you've got no lights
The check is in the mail
And your little angel
Hung the cat up by its tail
And your third fiance didn't show

Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You want to be where you can see
Our troubles are all the same
You want to be where everybody knows your name

Climbing the walls when no one calls
You've lost at love again
And the more you're down and out
The more you need a friend
When you long to hear a kind hello

Roll out of bed, Mr. Coffee's dead
The morning's looking bright
And your shrink ran off to Europe
And didn't even write
And your husband wants to be a girl

Be glad there's one place in the world
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You want to go where people know
People are all the same
You want to go where everybody knows your name

Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
Where everybody knows your name

They’re ok. I give them two things...1, Billy Gibbons is one hell of a guitar player. 2, they’re better than their gimmick and big hits let on.

You might like this one. Kinda shows there’s more to em than just She’s Got Legs.

ROFL, exactly, I'd be like "Soooo.... you aren't looking for child support? Awesome, any time.  Tell you friends."

I think most of the 80's songs has the dumbest lyrics.

My mom didn't realize most of the songs from the 60's was about drugs since she was young and not a druggie. lol

That's why a lot of 60's songs went on for 20 minutes or more since the fans were high the whole time. lol

I don't listen to pop music today, but I know some of those songs shouldn't be listened to by kids under ten. A lot of those lyrics are very explicit about sex and I don't let my daughter listen to them.

Ann Wilson in the Barracuda days i'd be like " so how big a family you guys after then?"

Gotta throw some Chuck in the discussion

Happy go lucky sounding country song with a casual and direct referece to gang rape at the 1:43 mark.

Reba McEntire's Fancy. Seems like most people focus on the chorus. The lyrics are rather sad.
