DTV88
Nah, Axl has lost his mid-range (or whatever the technical term is). It's awesome that he still does his best to put on a good 2.5+ hour show for the fans. But to say he hasn't lost part of his voice shows people to either be tone deaf or just trolling... The title track is in Drop D and Madagascar is in standard. Shackler's is in Drop B (C# maybe?) Everything else is regular Guns tuning Would you agree that it wouldn't matter what tuning the song was in? That Axl would struggle regardless? I was given a tab book for my birthday several years ago. GN'R songs in standard tuning surprised me.

Half-step is perfect for their songs though, it'd sound weird in any other tuning

Only during 2004-2005 tour, I guess because they just didn't want to carry 2 guitars for each tuning. During the 2007-2008 tour they went half step down (I guess because of Scott's voice or for having a different sound, some bands like The Offspring or Bon Jovi play in lower tunings live than on albums). Never liked how guns sound in standard tuning, I hated how Ac/dc sounded half step down, didn't like VR half step down
James Bond
Didn’t VR usually drop Fall To Pieces to a full step down for live performances? It’s not out of the question for Guns to do the same, but I really don’t think range is Axl’s problem as others have pointed out.
