Popular Post Azifwekare
Well I (and my neighbours) just listened through the album start to finish (again), and it sounds just as fresh, grand and fuckin' rocking as it did 10 years ago. Pretty impressive for an album that was mostly recorded almost twice as long ago. It's hard (and a bit sad) to imagine it's been that long already since the last GNR album. Happy 10th anniversary to Chinese F'N Democracy! I think I'll celebrate tonight with a Chinese takeaway. P.S. Bring back Brain! 7

Dean
Axl Rose at his best. Still hoping to hear the rest of the material from those sessions. What an album.
Popular Post soon
Incredible album! Incredible saga. And it continues in NITL! Also, Niven was on Mitch Lafons Rock Talk Podcast recently and stated a GNR insider has informed him that Axl is in studio sifting through CD era recordings to select material for new album. But Nivens word should be taken with an entire shaker of salt. Id prefer to hear with original players, personally.

killuridols
To me it feels like this happened 20 years ago! In the Internet era, time seems to fly thrice.... Can't believe how much I waited for this album, guilty feelings for downloading the leaks to ease the anxiety, and when it finally came out I was like 'meh'..... It wasn't possible for me to embrace these songs with the same passion I did for the first albums. Maybe it was just me, 27 years later, all growned up and worn out, like any fan who stuck with them through mud and shit since the early 90s. I haven't listened to CD in full mode for a long time. Probably years. Not sure I'll do it today. I really don't feel anything for that music anymore. It sounds boring and dated. Maybe my taste has changed or I've been listening to different new things. I really wish we had something new to listen to and stop being in this constant nostalgia trip. Celebrating CD anniversary makes me sad.

Gackt
I still remember buying the album from Best Buy that day, then hitting up a gas station for my free Dr. Pepper. Good times.

Popular Post DieselDaisy
The only way to celebrate this anniversary people, Quote Chinese Beef Stew Ingredients 3 pounds beef brisket or stew beef 4 tablespoons peanut oil Sauce 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce 4 tablespoons shaoxing wine or sherry, dry * 4 tablespoons soy sauce, tamari thin 1 tablespoon garlic minced 1 star anise whole * 1 teaspoon sichuan peppercorns roasted and crushed, sub black peppercorns if unavailable * 1 teaspoon chinese five spice powder * 2 teaspoons sugar 6 cups water 1 ½ daikon (chinese icicle radish) roll cut or turnips * Directions Tough beef is most flavorful, but you must simmer it gently for several hours to soften the sinewy muscle. Slow braising also encourages an exchange of flavors between the meat and the tangy sauce, enhancing both. Chinese radish adds just the right bite, much as turnips would in a Western stew. In effect, this is Chinese beef stew. Game meats or goat meat may be substituted for the beef for a delicious and unusual variation. Oxtails can also be braised in this manner or even veal shanks. Almost any cut of meat or organ that requires extensive cooking does well if braised. The flavor-packed sauce keeps the meat flavorful throughout. Turnips or carrots may be substituted for the Chinese radish, and chestnuts have a strong, sweet taste that holds up well to braising. Make a diagonal slice, roll daikon ¼ turn and slice again. Continue rolling and cutting until done. The preferred cut is brisket of beef, a boneless piece of tough meat from the underside of the steer, because of its rich, gelatinous texture when cooked. It is sold in Chinese meat markets as Chinese stew beef. Any tough beef cut can be used, such as boneless chuck and bottom round. Trim away the outer layers of fat. Cut the meat into 1½ inch strips. Cut the strips into cubes. Brown the meat on all sides in a wok over a high flame in 3 tablespoons of oil, Set it aside. Add the remaining sauce ingredients. Bring them to a boil. Add the beef to the sauce, reduce the heat to a simmer, cover the wok, and braise the beef for 2 hours. After 1½ hours, add the roll-cut radish. Cook for 30 minutes more, until both the beef and radish are tender. Serve the stew immediatel And then ehh sit in it! 3

I've been a huge Guns fan ever since I was a small child (bad parenting = good taste), but if anything CD made me an even bigger fan than I already was, if that was possible. 1

Music is art and as such, it provokes and invokes personal feelings in the people who listen to it. There's not much of an objective parameter to use here. You can listen to an album a thousand times and it might not move a hair of your body. Just because some people don't find it the best album ever made in the history of music it doesn't mean they haven't given it a proper listen or that they can't 'understand' its complexity.

Of course, but like the guys discussed in on the AFD podcast, even people who don't like the album overall still like at least some of it, in comparison to guys who are like "No Slash? Then it must suck".
