The Empire losing power and that reflects on their agenda with their media synchronized to echo their bullshit.

It's an old mechanism, though. We've seen this shit for centuries.

Okay but why single China out for criticism. That’s all. I mean sure statism was the biggest evil of the 20th century but that’s what we are doing, so why can’t China do it?

Huawei is huge in Chile. I saw it last year when I was there, most people had a Huawei phone.

Apple is just jealous, lol :P

Well Huawei is No 2 in the world and China and Philipines make all the iphones. China built/own the internet infrastructure, so they all ready own your country anyway. But it’s only because your politicians sold out to China. Apple sold Americans out.

NZ mostly sucks up to China and is friendly with them. We're more of a US ally though. We're in the Five Eyes Alliance. So yeah there's some hypocrisy there(which I'm not happy about) so you think I have to be happy or not comment on China's presence? Fuck that. We're getting back to that same retarded point of "Any country or entity unless spotless cannot comment on anyone else."

That's very dangerous and stupid.

No, make a comment but just don’t be ridiculous.

Because they are a major competitor and it must be defeated in order to keep the hegemony of the Empire.

It's a power struggle.

China and any country in the world have all the right to rise up, develop, advance but they won't be able to do it without consequences or without upsetting the rest of superpowers that are playing the game as well.

"Accusing China of spying is ridiculous when other countries spy too!" I never even implied I thought only China spied. I'm talking about their sense of entitlement over my country specifically. You're not too bright eh?

It’s ridiculous to suggest selling Huawei phones is spying.

That's funny.  Same happened to some acquaintances of mine.  They have their father living in the USA for 16 years and they can't go visit him since the USA government will not grant them the visa. Actually, if you say you have family or friends in the USA, they won't give you the visa here. Grandmas crying at the U.S. ambassy because they are not allowed to go see their grandchildren....

Its similar, except in my friends case, its the country that his parents are citizens of that restrict their freedom to travel.

Yes, same here. Actually it started way before CD release time for us. There are many Mandarin courses in my city, each year there is more opportunity to learn and I've been thinking about it for quite some time now.

The Chinese presence in Argentina has got more prominent in the last decade and after the agreements signed during G20 it will only rise up.

We have a second generation of Chinese immigrants with their children assimilated to our culture and customs. They are hard workers and mostly respectful.

I meant when Axl started CD in late 90's.

I wish it had started earlier here too so I could've learned in childhood. I still barely know any French or Koine Greek and I need to learn Cree. I suck at learning languages.

You know, Im happy that Chinese immigrants don't have to assimilate if they dont want too, here. For the restaurants and grocers most of all. And for the social and cultural contributions of the general population, the Buddhist Centres and the Churches. China Town has Nuite Blanche and fun stuff. I love the murals and the grand arch ways. Also people who left China because of LGBT identity have brought with them this wonderful Drag culture that is so different then ours was. There's a famous Chinese Drag Queen DJ in my neighbourhood. Their karaoke nights are legendary! Or the massive tai chi meet ups where all these old people remind me to get off the bench, put down the phone and move my body.

I mean if they are forcing you NZ to do that, then I don’t agree.

But if if NZ are refusing to use Huawei because of spying, then I think it’s ridiculous. But NZ has that right. I think China would think that’s offensive. So now they ban NZ lamb. It’s all a bit silly.

Not being allowed to enter is very different to not being allowed to leave.

I seriously doubt China care about spying on US citizens with Huawei phones man.

Government and spy agencies, not citizens. Organisations at that level need to be very careful about what services they use, for obvious reasons.

I think they could do it with iphones built in China. It’s not the phone, it’s the servers.

To me it’s NZ perogative and China can be offended. But what now China stops iphones being sold in China or whatever product. Spying on what? We know they are the ones fucking us. Our state is better than your state? What are we doing here?

NZ was the first country to give women the vote, first to climb Mount Everest, first to split the atom, we're sending rockets into space, etc - but we are a small country in the middle of nowhere and get pushed around by China and others like the US. We're the only US ally to refuse to allow their nuclear vessels in our waters and have been punished for that for a long time. I am happy to criticise the US and I do. So don't misunderstand me/not use reading comprehension in order to try and cobble together a bullshit argument that I'm anti-China lol. I even outright said I'm literally using a Huawei phone to type this and that we're not banning them commercially and explained everything multiple times.

For fucks sake. But hey, they should ban NZ lamb. Very silly indeed.

I’m right.

It’s difficult because most Chinese people are happy with their government because literally billions of people have been pulled out of poverty.

There’s no doubt China has less on the freedom scale. It’s not North Korea by any means. I think some of the fear westerners see isn’t there really. Try posting a letter or getting on the subway nobody gives a fuck.

I guess I would say think of democracy as terrorism is to the west. Terrorists want to destroy the stability of the west. That’s kind of what democracy does, it destabalizes things in certain countries.

What is weird is that in many ways the Democrats really would like the US to be like China in many ways.

But from a more Libertarian perspective Axl makes some valid points. I just don’t know what his context is. It seems caring and issue based. Defintely Chinese gov done some bad things. It’s just within the context of US foreign policy it’s not that bad. But on priciple yes, but why pick on China specifically. I think honestly any tourists coming here, seeing the country, you are safe, much safer than a lot of countries. Yuge. I know I sound like Trump. I guess I’m just a socialist who likes to dance part 2.

The song itself I see more personally, you oppressed fight back or stand up. It could apply to Trump more than China.

I’m watching Man in the high Castle. If they beat me to death with sticks I’m happy how my life turn out. Such as it is.

Good isn't it? I tend to prefer the German bits over the Japanese bits. I enjoy the strange and subversive amalgam of apple pie America with National Socialism.

I'm probably too on my guard due to people like Australia. The Australian government I think it was their last prime minister said in a speech about aussie that they were the first country to give women the vote lol. They do it all the time.

Australians are the most nationalistic people I have ever come across in my life by a country mile, far more that the Americans or Scots. Their media is also comically biased; there was a incident awhile back when they suffered a bunch of sporting defeats, in all the makor sports they usually obsess over, during a very concentrated period of time and the Aussie press suddenly became immensely interested in kayaking, which took over the back pages. It turns out an Australian was doing well in kayaking: all the major sports which normally dominate the Australian papers (you'll know sport is akin to a religion in Oz?), cricket, rugger, were relegated to tiny little boxes haha.

I talk with a few Australians and they literally say things like,

''Australia is blessed with superior climate, soil and food which creates a superior athlete''.

And the sad thing is, I don't know how serious they're being!!

I'd love to go to New Zealand one day. As a kid I spent almost every summer a few weeks in Zeeland, which New Zealand was named after.

Well you're welcome to visit here.

Maybe I should visit Old Zeeland.

It's nothing special, just beaches and small, cute towns but you can find that everywhere. I'm sure it's not half as beautiful as New Zealand. But it's very close to beautiful Belgian cities however, so that alone will be worth it.

There's heaps of beaches here too. Two of my favourites are Whangamata and New Chums. Sad to think what rising sea levels will do to us.

Oh yeah, half of my country is below sea level so some scientists are predicting that half of the country will be gone in the future. I live in the part that's above sea level fortunately.

I assure you they're being very serious lol. Typical. Don't get me wrong I love Aussie and certain things like helping them fight their wildfires are unconditional. But they can be such cunts it's remarkably disappointing since they're generally good folks.

Speaking of sport I'm sure you're aware of the infamous time they rolled the ball in that famous cricket game? LOL.

I think the fact that they were literally all criminals has had a lasting effect on their sense of identity and they feel wounded or marred by that so they embellish, lie and steal etc. Sadly leading to their xenophobia and the way they treat Aboriginals.

Trevor Chappell, yes, probably the worst bit of sportsmanship in sporting history.

Learning French was very difficult for me, as it started to get confused with English inside my head

I love languages but I guess learning English when I was a child was an advantage and now my brain is not as plastic as it was before. I suppose learning Mandarin will be hard as F for me.

No one here is forced to anything either. Although the community is not huge like in other countries, we can already talk about a second generation of children born in Argentina, from Chinese parents. There are bilingual schools for those kids to learn both Mandarin and Spanish, culture and history of China and integrate with other non-Chinese children, since Argentines are allowed to enroll in those schools too.

Their traditions are fully respected, so much there are three Buddhist temples in Buenos Aires and a pintoresque Chinese neighborhood, which is a major tourist attraction, especially when they celebrate their New Years lots of people from the whole country go see them. But in the last decades, they've become more interested in merging themselves with us, probably because of their main activities being commerce, the interaction with different people is a must and thus, relationships are developed.

In 2011, an Argentine movie portrayed the funny relationship between Argentinians and Chinese people. It's a comedy and it won several prizes abroad, aside from featuring a major Argentine movie star, the counterpart is a Chinese actor who inmigrated here when he was a kid and later studied drama & arts in Buenos Aires.

:)

With French I sometimes just say English words in an accent and add on a French suffix. :lol: Im getting better though. Also I am at a disadvantage because I was close with a separatist when I was younger and her family insisted on me speaking rural Joual to them. Joual being a specific dialect of the Quebecois working class that has its own bunch of words and phrases that simply dont fit into formal French grammar. Its from the city, so this also had a rural lilt and its own additional phrases. So now a Francophone will see me struggling with French and then I manage to get a Joual phrase out, which they can tell Im more confident in and clearly recognize it as french but still dont know what I'm talking about . And sometimes its rude like "I was frightened" has its standard french translation but in Joual translates to "I was the B1tch" But I dont know that when i say it!!

That movie looks funny!

Ah, I see. I took from your wording about having 'them assimilated' that is was expected.

Now Im inspired to go buy one of those BBQ bunnies I always see hanging up side down in the windows.

How is it not different? The US saying "We don't want you here" and turning people away is very different to any country that prevents it's citizens from leaving because it wants to control them.

I have this problem of replacing French words with English ones because that language is more evolved in my head, loooool. But I can read French in a 80% I'd say.... problem comes when listening to it, I don't grasp one thing

Can I say your Justin Trudeau was a  "sensation"  among women and gay men, when he came to visit us for G-20?? :rofl-lol:

Yeah, I meant that they are pretty much integrated and there's no conflict with them, but they do keep their traditions & culture.
