What stupid category is this. OMG. What would the GnR guys have said about that in the late 80s.

I agree it sounds a bit like an odd category, but you can't blame GNR for that.

Who are the other nominees?

Yay!

For "Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package."

Nominated for what? The L&L Set?

If so, Weird Al is going to win that award, so it might not be time to celebrate just yet

If GN'R wins it will be their first Grammy. So THAT'S why they released the boxset!

That makes it even worse somehow

From the reactions here, doesn't look like many are celebrating

And was that what they were actually nominated for? The L&L Set?

Edit-

Had to go back through the thread and figure out what they were actually nominated for.

Edited the name of the thread and moved it to the correct section.

Yep, I posted the nominees in a post a short while ago. It says "Locked & Loaded" on GN'R.

The only thing that I am excited about by this nomination is the potential to see the big 3 walk the red carpet together and maybe do brief interviews toget.... nah, I couldn't even finish the sentence. Not happening.

I hadnt heard of it either. Apparently its been a category, with one name or another, since 1995. My guess is that its only a televised category if its a really big band with a super popular release? So Im guessing that it hasn't been in the tv presentation of the Grammys very often

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award_for_Best_Boxed_or_Special_Limited_Edition_Package

Edit: it says "The Grammy Award for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package has been presented since 1995 to an album's art directors. The award is not bestowed upon or shared by the artist unless they are also a credited art director." So that must explain if its not televised, because its not usually the artists themselves who win the award, but the "artistic director" who compiled it. (according to wiki at least, lol). Hopefully Guns identified themselves as part of the artistic direction of the box set.

There's a grammy for box sets?

Judges have to be into the wife swapping scene and have to possess a stackload of Cliff Richard cds. It is a prerequisite.

I'm assuming value for money is not taken into consideration when assessing which releases are up going to be up for nomination?
