Appetite for Destruction' (1987): "Welcome to the Jungle" Sometimes you just have to put your best foot forward, and "Welcome to the Jungle" was just that for Guns N' Roses. The very first song on 'Appetite for Destruction' endures as perhaps the ultimate distillation and the very definition of the band's unmistakable sound and image. To put it in simpler terms, this just plain rocks. Worst song: "You're Crazy." This scorching hard rocker was notably sequenced following "Sweet Child o' Mine" on 'Appetite for Destruction.' Why? Probably to balance GNR's brief display of romantic sweetness with one of their most venomous attacks on crazy girlfriends. G N' R Lies' (1988): "Patience" One of Guns N' Roses' biggest charting hits, "Patience" sounds surprisingly pretty and safe, in retrospect. That peaceful infectiousness, however, was utterly shocking to fans of 'Appetite for Destruction,' who had yet to hear the band expand their sound on the 'Illusion' LPs. It's also timeless as a result. Worst song: "Move to the City." Probably the least distinctive tune on the otherwise electrifying 'Live Like a Suicide' mini-LP. In fact, it has the feel of an outtake, not quite finished and ready for primetime yet. Oddly, this supposedly live recording also features a horn section. 'Use Your Illusion I' (1991): "November Rain" Often seen as Axl Rose's personal magnum opus, "November Rain" had been marinating in the singer's fertile mind for nearly a decade before its appearance on 'Use Your Illusion II.' But the wait was worth it, as the epic ballad (and its cinematic video) earned its place among Guns N' Roses' greatest creations. Worst song: "Perfect Crime." Blink and you might miss this one, which comes and goes at high velocity, demanding under three minutes of one's time. Ultimately, it's distinguished solely by a convoluted, somewhat funky breakdown ahead of Slash's decapitating solo. This may be GNR's most blistering recording. 'Use Your Illusion II' (1991): "Estranged" This album achieved a dramatic conclusion with the nine-minute "Estranged," where Axl Rose shared his disappointment over a recently annulled marriage to Erin Everly while leaning on the shoulder of a comparatively soaring guitar melody courtesy of Slash. Abject misery never sounded so darn good. Worst song: "My World." This sticks out of the Guns N' Roses discography like a sore thumb, giving Dee Dee Ramone a run for his money in the rockers-who-shouldn't-ever-ever-rap sweepstakes. The Spaghetti Incident?' (1993): "Ain't It Fun" The highlights of 'The Spaghetti Incident,' because one can feel just how much passion Guns N' Roses invested into this cult-punk rocker from the Dead Boys. They obviously related with its lyrics about the double edged sword of the rock 'n' roll life. Worst song: "Look at Your Game, Girl." Guns N' Roses were quick to play down their decision to cover this psychedelic relic as any endorsement of composer Charles Manson, the notorious serial killer. It still feels like a forced attempt to underscore their "most dangerous band in the world" reputation. Chinese Democracy' (2008): "Better" On one level, "Better" is just another of the electronica-infused departures from the familiar Guns N' Roses hard-rock formula found on 'Chinese Democracy.' Yet, for all of the computer-processed textures dripping off it, this obviously colossal production piece ultimately falls into place with astonishing fluidity. "Better" is proof of the method to Axl Rose's madness. Worst song: "If the World." Imagine a funked-up James Bond theme slathered in digital effects then topped by Axl Rose's unmistakable screams, and you have the head-scratching "If the World." Appetite Best - So tough but I am going to say Rocket Queen.. Worst - I agree with their You're Crazy pick.. Still a good song but weakest on the album.. This song is so much better with a slow tempo.. Acoustic or Electric. LIES Best - One In A Million Worst - Patience.. Again, still a good song but the first half is pretty boring UYI I Best - November Rain Worst - Perfect Crime UYI II Best - Estranged Worst - So Fine TSI Best - Down On The Farm Worst - You can't Put Your Arms Around a Memory CD Best - CD Worst - Just about every other song except maybe Street Of Dreams and Madagascar and I really only like the old live 2001 versions of those Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Worst - SCOM (the solo and video saves it) UYI1 Best - RNDTH Worst - YATF UYI2 Best - breakdown (especially the solos) and 14 years. Worst - my world Lies Best- MTTC ( guns should have played this last year on tour) Worst - your crazy acoustic ( i find it boring). Spagetti Incident Best - new rose/raw power ( loves matts drumming, frank couldnt hold a candle to matt in terms of power and speed) Worst- SIDHY CD Best - TWAT (mainly lyrics) Worst- better.
