Slash to record in Axl's Malibu studio on Saturday 04/27/2019

Recommended Posts

I think Axl told Kurt Loder in that 1999 interview for mtv that he had his own little home studio.

also, didn’t he mention in the 2008 chats here or on another forum that his home studio was used for parts of recording and/or mixing ChiDem? Or maybe I read that on Chinese Whispers. Idk.

I was under the impression that this 2014 photo was from Axls home studio, because IIRC there were pics of him and Pitman on twitter showing them outside Axls home observing the wildfires around that time. And, again iirc, Pitman had mentioned he was at Axls to work in studio??

[I've been lurking without posting for a few years now but...] Oh man this picture again? It's clearly a stock image- Google something like "stock photo ghostly figure hand at window," click Images, and poke around with some of the top navigation keywords.

On a related note, I can't even count how many threads on this forum have made me wonder why no one's thought of making a tragi-comic "Waiting for Guffman" style documentary about the fans here and their eternal waiting and faith that someday this band will release an album without a 20-something year delay. And spend those two decades trying to dissect a series of red herring clues for an explanation as to why the new music has yet to materialize and/or why its release may actually be imminent. Sorry- I guess that last bit should be my entry in the What's Your Unpopular GN'R Opinion thread.:shrugs:

No, I 100% agree, the perpetual wait for new GN'R music deserves a Netflix doco!

I think this is from the “Sorry” Music Video that leaked years ago.

No. It's actually from a Twitter post. Kind of reaction to the "axl is dead" fake news, a few years ago...

I'd take Foo Fighters any day over shit like Godsmack and Puddle of Mudd.   Grohl's a genuinely cool and talented dude, and humble.  He has no business being a session drummer for a Guns album, but a feature on a song has potential.

I don't want to go too in depth regarding this post since it's GNR. However, I have to say that Godsmack is awesome in concert!! I saw them last summer with Shinedown at PNC  Arts  Center.  They blew Shinedown out of the water.

This is true, their albums are boring but they're a hell of a live band. I've seen them 4 or 5 times at different festivals, they're awesome.

Shinedown is one of my worst concert experience. I saw them at Rock im Park (sister festival of Rock am Ring) in 2016 and they had like 60 minute slot and the dude, singer, whatever his name is talked for like 25 minutes. It was so annoying. Also pretty sure they had a big backing track with a lot of guitars and some vocals

I saw Godsmack open for Slash's Snakepit, great show.

I've seen them a couple times too, at some of the same festivals Godsmack was playing actually... the first time I saw them was pretty good, they played for maybe an hour and the singer didn't talk that much. The 2nd time I saw them, they fuckin sucked. Talk about 'going through the motions', it was shamelessly choreographed. Also, the singer for Shinedown is notorious for lip-syncing.

Dave Grohl's drumming on Them Crooked Vultures and Songs for the Deaf should alone be enough to include him in Hall of fame

Yep...fantastic drumming on those albums! His drumming in the 2nd Foo Fighters album is great as well.

Foo Fighters ain't no better than Nickelback. If their lead singer would not have been in a band with Kurt Cobain, no one would give a shit and rightly so. Decent drummer though and seems to be a nice person. But as a singer/songwriter I just can't take the guy seriously, too bland, too mediocre, too "likeable", no edge.

I'm not a huge Foo Fighters fan but I disagree with this. They didn't push the Nirvana thing very much on the first album release and he's certainly not one of the biggest rock stars on the planet just because he was the drummer in that band. His name certainly helped early on,  but he stayed away from using the Nirvana thing. Novaselic released stuff and they did nothing on the charts. There's some real solid stuff there that helped blow Grohl up. The first 2 albums are very good.

Dave is a killer musician and a great songwriter, plus he's friends with the GnR guys.

Check this out, he played all of the instruments on this song and tracked the drum part entirely from memory, one take.

I believe he did the same on the first Foo's album

Me too. When I looked up that pic just now, I found this mini article. According to this guy, it may have been in reference to rumours from a few days earlier that Axl was found dead. I have no idea if thats accurate though? It sure doesnt appear to be Axls silhouette to my eyes.

for those wondering about that "ghost" pic- it is from Axls Twitter on dec 3 2014. he was referencing a fake story that came out that he was dead the day before.  the tweet before this pic said "if I'm dead, do I still have to pay taxes?"

the pic appears to me to be on a computer monitor in the studio which he could have googled. in between takes of "rock the rock".

or it could be a double talkin jive reference to finding a head and an arm in a garbage can outside the music studio.

or more likely it is paul tobias' cryogenically frozen body waiting to be thawed out for when Axl is ready to have Slash leave again. lol

A friend of mine is a big U2 fan, saw them on every tour since Achtung Baby and after the concert in cologne in 2017 he said it was his last one because it felt like 'a lesson in politics'

I like U2's music but Bono made me sell the tickets I had for their last tour (best choice I ever made)
