AXL_N_DIZZY 212 Posted May 14 Dizzy’s in the RNHOF, played on UYI I & II, and on two of the more important/iconic hard rock tours (UYI & NITL) of the last 30 years. That is absolutely ace for 99.9% of the hustling musicians in the world- but by all means let’s pretend like he cries himself to sleep every night...

WhazUp 3,211 Posted May 15 (edited) I like Dizzy, definitely not a keyboard virtuoso or anything but he plays Estranged live to this day really well and captures the vibe Axl laid down with his own piano playing for the studio version of the song, and did some cool stuff in the band. I always liked his little solo on the Tokyo/Live Era version of Move to the City Edited May 15 by WhazUp

zigzagbigbag 369 Posted May 15 To date I still don’t get all the hate for Dizzy. After all these years he still places himself in the background and is doing nothing but a proper job. He is not screaming for fame or attention like other people (would) do being in his shoes. Indeed, he is no guy with rockstar charisma BUT in no way he pretends to be such a guy and that is why he gets my respect. 6

Dizzy is just an easy target, he got the gig because of Axl's loyalty, but then he ends up playing on only half of the songs, and by now he's the longest serving member, yet most people still forget about him, so it's easy to poke fun at that. I'm sure he's a nice guy and good at what he does.
double talkin jive mfkr 847 Posted May 16 the bongos during coma are so above the moon awesome i appreciate him lord knows the genius axl would've continued to become on the piano if he didnt choose to outsource it look no further to esstranged and what axl could add to it live
IrishgunnerII 19 Posted May 19 Well dizzys strategy since 1990 of not rocking the boat seems to have worked well.

megaguns1982 471 Posted May 19 Didn’t read. I can guess: ”yeah man... axl writes great tunes” one guy who who happened to be in the right place at the right time in Hollywood. Adds nothing to true GNR. fuck off dizzy, you’d be living in a trailer park if it weren’t for axl forcing you on everyone in the band.

RussTCB 17,913 Posted May 19 I don't really mind Dizzy. He's just kinda there for me. I just couldn't care less about his feelings on the reunion is all.

tadskis 8 Posted May 22 (edited) To my surprise Dizzy actually has passable songs (not that much overdosed with keyboards and with rather nice guitar soloing), some of which are at least not worse than half of anything on ChiDem or even better: Edited May 22 by tadskis
default_ 1,553 Posted May 22 I have nothing to say about Dizzy at all cause there's nothing to say, really. GNR didnt release enough material to allow us to have a musical opinion on him.
Tom-Ass 6,980 Posted May 23 I have no problem with Dizzy.. I just look at him a as a touring musician. I think he a semi important part of the live show. I don't really think he needs to be out there for every song and definitely not playing keyboards on Nightrain.. I also think he is perfectly capable of adding any extra piano/keyboard and "layers" without having a second keyboardist on stage..

Haven't given it a spin yet, though. Well that's my main issue with Dizzy. I do think he's a decent keyboardist, he's just nothing... exciting, I guess. In my eyes he's totally benign... there are others who need to be removed first.

I actually like his piano part on Nightrain but you're right, it's not necessary and he doesn't need to be there for all the songs. Although he does do a bunch of backing vocals.
