It woul be commercial suicide if they title it Chinese Democracy, thing is Axl and TB are dumb enough to do it.

People are bad for that.

1 album, would be awesome to get 10 great new songs instead of multiple disks of stuff that wasn't good enough to come out when it was made, why would it be now?

cause it was always good enough is my guess plus if you believe Slash and Duff, they agree it's great. To automatically assume the tunes were not released cause they were not good enough is "biased" and the catalog is fairly small so an album with just 10 great tunes is not a very good idea imo, not good enough after 11 years of no release. Better if they release something like the Illusions in terms of quantity or at least 14 tracks if you want to keep it realistic.

I sincerely doubt they'll bust out the "Chinese" moniker for any future projects.

If anything, I think they'd be wise to go the S/T route as was rumored years ago.

The remaining songs weren't left off Chinese because they weren't good enough. The songs chosen for CD were chosen because 1. they fit together better. 2. Some of the other material was more aggressive and or experimental (according to Axl) and it didn't suit the tone of the rest of the material. 3. A lot of the songs chosen were chosen because they were leaked so it made sense to release them first.

Axl definitely doesn't view the remaining tracks as inferior. What the fans think? Who knows!? but I for one would love to hear something new and fresh, Instead of 12 stale gnr clone songs that have a vague familiarity to AFD or UYI.

There’s no way it will be named that. Chinese Democracy is a thing of the past, of Axl’s solo. Now they’re a real band again (Tommy "the General" my ass, he was just a pawn like the others when it came to decision-making, wasn’t he), and the guys are an integral part of it.

So the name will be "2020 Intentions".

Gotcha. I think that'd be fitting for a final album. (Not saying I think there will be one after this, or that there even will be one  )

Axl was "working" on new music for the better part of a decade.  We'll see when it actually happens.......

This would be very cool. Kind of like what they did with the last MJ album.

Just you wait and see, the next break-up will be over a game of Monopoly.

Well, worse things have happened over a game of Monopoly, I saw it on Forensic Files the other night.

Whatever way the band goes i hope this will be what slash wants the band to be and has said before an  album-tour-album-tour cycle band like the old days. I hope this allows axl to finally get the monkey off his back with having the confidence to constantly release music. Im hoping once the album is done a second album is already recorded and ready to drop after they tour.

That's what I'm hoping for too, that they'll get creative again and be inspired to release more albums before they retire. I think they've got a lot more gas left in the tank, we just haven't seen it yet.

Wheres Izzy ??!!!!

Izzy's too cool to record tracks like Coma or Locomotive. Izzy's too cool for Guns N' Roses. Izzy's pure love. They're too greedy, they don't deserve Izzy.

Very cool Russ, thanks for the link and thanks for keeping this forum/community alive. Heads up to your pal running the interview, he did a great job and asked the good questions.

This interview is the confirmation we needed, they're definitely working on a new album, and Slash going to Axl's studio was real and directly linked to the new Guns record. Great!

Also, did Slash make a joke about Axl cutting the phone call? :lol:The audio is not clear enough on that part and I fear my english is rusty. If he did joke about this, it means their relation is very healthy.

I doubt they'll play a new song during the upcoming mini-tour, from what I get, they haven't recorded a complete song yet. Maybe some parts and ideas here and there. Who knows, maybe we'll have a surprise.

It also explains why Axl is so silent these days. He doesn't use twitter no more, no communication, that's a good sign (or so I hope). I hope he hits the gym a lot and does his best to look as close as possible to his 30 years old self (one can dream!). Stop the junk food, stop alcohol, run twice a week, and do some kickboxing. Unless he doesn't care about the iconic visual part no more, or doesn't understand how important it is. Sure the most important part is the voice and I didn't care much how he looked in 2010 because he sounded amazing. But I've always wished he'd disappear for a while and come back looking like a million bucks. He can definitely do it.

Look at Kyle MacLachlan. He has looked like shit for a while, let himself go, but lost weight, hit the gym, and looked his best for Twin Peaks: The Return. There's even a line stating how good he looks in season 3. That's how you do it!

The thing that's really bugging me though is the part where Slash says "we hadn't really done anything yet". Damn. That means the rest of Chinese Democracy doesn't count. I really hope "The General" will be the opener of this new album, at the very least. I don't see this line-up topping The General. Aside from this track, we haven't heard much except a very short clip of Checkmate (which I dig a lot, I'd love to hear the whole song), so who knows. Maybe Axl has thought this through and doesn't feel it's up to GN'R's legacy.

Now, again, I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I feel what Bucket, Robin and the rest of the CD staff have brought to the table is more interesting that what Slash & Duff have released ever since they left Guns in 97.

I absolutely dislike Duff's last song (haven't listened to the whole album and don't want to), and there's absolutely nothing on Slash's Living the dream: it's mediocre, generic and utterly boring. I don't want the new GN'R album to sound anything like this.

So really, I don't have much faith in their skills. It will all rely on Axl, pushing everyone to the max. He has to become the leader again and expect top material from each of them, along with getting back in perfect shape, both vocally and physically (mostly vocally, obviously).

The next mini-tour will allow us to see if he's trained enough.

I went to the Paris show last year, I was happy to see them together, I enjoyed the show, it was cool. I did love the setlist. My expectations weren't too high, because I knew Axl wasn't using his full potential.

But if it's a new album we're talking about, I'm expecting top-notch quality. Axl has never disappointed me when it comes to studio album and he's not going to throw the towel now!

Yeah...Twin Peaks Return was really good...Lynch did it like no nostalgia series...I almost cried when Coop was back in hospital...Also I didn't understand last episode...What did happen?...Will be there fourth season?

But this is reallly good news...I can't wait for new music...Also I want to hear nee stuff not stuff from CD era...

So this is about as definitive statement on a new album we've gotten isn't it?

Finally! A working man interview... "Hey Slash how's going?" "Here, touring a bit, working on new material for GnR..."

This is how it all started. Way back when Internet was discovered, the first search I did, related to popular culture, was along the lines "Axl Slash interview GnR new album". All I ever wanted was this LOL

When I did that search in '98 there were few clips from maybe 91/92, and they were just like this one (of course taken from Terrestrial radio).

I wouldn't be concerned with CDII stuff, it's perfectly normal for them to have a starting point, where they'll end up, who knows.

Would love to hear lyrics and vocals by Slash.

Also new music is now released on Fridays, not Tuesdays. Has been that way for a while.

Don't want to be an asshole and I really like postive threads like this one but there's nothing new that surprises me at all with this interview. I mean... it's cool hearing Slash visits Axl's homestudio but to me it was never a question if they will try to make a new record. Slash is always writing music and Axl stated he has a lot of stuff and wants to do something.

But the main questions remain the same. Are they able to record a whole album together without to struggle? Do they have the same artistic target or are their ideas about GNR still close enough to overcome their differences and different work ethics?

How long will Axl need for his vocals? How long will he need for the production?

Will he overproduce the record with his layers and farts?

Everybody is so positive about this topic but it's till a long way to go... unfortunately.
