I though it would be cool if we could, collectivelly, put together a list of GNR references in general pop culture over the years, mainly movies and TV shows.

From the top of my head, only Californication comes to mind, where there's a GNR reference every 5 minutes (well, not really, but there's at least several).

I know How I Met Your Mother had a couple of different references - one was a character trying to recite some lyrics from NR to another character to win her back, and another I think I remember they had a tiny bit about Chinese Democracy but it has been so long I forget the specifics lol

Isn’t there a thread like this somewhere already?

Anyway, I remember hearing a bit of WTTJ in one of the Simpsons episodes. The bit stands out, because I don’t recall any other GN’R references in the show (by which I’m not necessarily saying they’re not there – it’s a long-run show, and it’s been a while).

Then of course, Axl’s looks were recently mocked in either American Dad or Family Guy, can’t remember which one but think it was AD, in 2016, and I think those images were from an Axl/DC gig.

No references in Futurama as far as I know; neither Rick & Morty so far.

And yes, Californication. They were mentioning both AfD and ChD. Hank is cool. :)

Of course, plus all the movies, starting with Jim Carrey in, what was it, 1988?

True Lies: The Arnie Movie. His mate tells Arnie that his daughter no longer looks at them like parents. "Her  new mom is Madonna and her dad is Axl Rose"

UK tv quiz shows: "Celebrity Juice" In 2010 just after the reading fiasco (I was there :D ) one of the contestants points out that Keith Lemon the host looked like Axl Rose and they showed a pic of him to the side of Lemon.

"Never Mind the Buzzcocks" Frankie Boyle guest hosts the show and there is a GNR question. After the question Boyle goes on a rant on how Axl Rose along with his fans ought to be locked up in a burning building.

"Mastermind" Someone Chose GNR as their specialist subject.

Those are the ones I've either seen or been shown on UK tv anyway.

To me the best usage of GNR in a film is Cape Fear - Patience : Juliette Lewis is going nuts at her parents in her room and Patience is blaring

Also Sweet Child in State of Grace with Gary Oldman/Sean Penn - It's a tense bar scene - great insert

I like modern (and old too) British detective tv shows, and I’ve recently finished the third season of the Unforgotten (1 series = 1 case of a very old crime). The protagonist (a milf detective) said in one of the last episodes something along the lines that despite of not being too religious, she used to wear a cross when she was a teenager, because she wanted to look like Axl Rose. :) It was unexpected there to me.

Saw a documentary the other day about Davy Jones of the Monkees and he said "Justin Bieber stole my haircut and Axl Rose stole my dance."  Funny stuff.

Yeah well you stole your haircut off of The Beatles Davy boy.  Mind you, so did an entire generation.

I've seen that episode too.
