Also, to the people saying this isn't getting any attention; I think that's a weekend thing. I'm sure it'll get picked up by all the music outlets tomorrow.

Let’s cross our fingers it goes under the radar?

Question for you guys...

If you were a betting man, do you reckon there's good odds on us getting Atlas Shrugged full version in the coming weeks?

I've personally never seen anyone claim TWAT and This I Love are about Slash.

I'm reasonably sure I'm the only person who thinks The Blues is about him. I'm fine being in the minority on that one though :)

Definitely remember Lofton making the same argument about the blues years ago, while others were claiming it was about Everly and a miscariage (or was it an abortion). A certain slasholic from there claimed This I Love was about Slash like every other track.

Fair enough. I'm sure people have made all sorts of claims that I've forgotten about lol.

I'll always stick by my feelings about The Blues. For the record, I think that's the only song on CD that's directly about Slash.

I don't think Hard School is about him either.

Miscariage take comes from the " what I thought was beautiful don't live in you anymore" line

I’ve heard rumors that it’s about Cobain, actually (not joking).

song is great and I'd bet money that Slash could make it even greater

in other news they need to release this via proper outlet.  I'll pay money.  I found the song on an adult website and oh the things I saw......  I cant unsee........ wish I could.  but to each their own. those two fellas must have been workout buddies or something.

if this doesnt prove that some will do anything to hear new music, I dont know what will.  well, off to wash my eyes out with bleach!

I just can’t help but to keep thinking about what could have been. Say Axl actually released this song (completed), and all the leftovers, including The General, Atlas, etc and performed them at shows. How different would things be now, if at all? He would have a clean slate. We keep hearing about this “new album”, which we all (fairly) assume is just CD leftovers. But had he released all CD material he had, would we even be having a discussion about a “new album”?

All the leaks seem to be a weekend thing always on a Saturday. I'm not sure if anyone noticed but last weekend House of Blues 2001 was back on YT for a bit, weekend before was Saskatoon. I know we've had those, but it just seems odd that there being posted around the same time every weekend.

Wow, really? I've talked about it for years. Seems obvious to me that it's very much about Slash but you and everyone else disagrees.

I think people are just trying to see if they can get those videos to stick on YouTube eventually. I sure hope it works.

I just don't see it Russ. Any of the rock songs like Hard School or other songs on CD I can see that. But not a slow sappy song like The Blues? I don't see Axl saying "What I thought was beautiful inside of you" to Slash and the next day "Slash is a Cancer, the least we hear from him and his supporters the better" It just doesn't sound right. Ya' know?

It sounds absolutely right, at least to me. If you thought a person had something beautiful inside that died, you could certainly see them as a cancer.

Anyways, I've derailed the thread enough already lol. Like I said, im very aware that I'm in the vast minority in my thinking about the song.

Here are my suggestions for how the band can clean up Hardschool:

-Get rid of the four seconds of silence at the beginning.

-Replace the minute-long slow-paced intro with a simple AM-filtered measure of the verse chords (like in all the fake leaks).

-Have Slash re-do all the leads with a consistent tone/feel (and maybe add an extra lick or two throughout the song).

-Have Axl add extra lyrics during the keyboard-heavy bridge section (right after the solo and right before he sings the next chorus). That way, the overall song won’t sound as repetitive.

-Lastly, have Axl add just a few more new lyrics on top of the drum roll “build up” part at the end (right before the last vocal line).

that should do the trick!

No matter who was the inspiration for whatever song I've never personally cared that much, if I like how it sounds and can relate anyway to the message in the song it is all that matters to me.

It could very well be, a lot of artists have written about him.... even Cher!

Tearjerker by The Red Hot Chili Peppers sounds like it's about some girl, but it's about Cobain too.

Isn’t the Slash’s Snakepit song Lower also about Cobain?

hell, even I wrote a song about him that’s on my latest album that I dropped two month ago (end of shameless plug).

Just heard it

nothing special just like CD

copy and paste type single from pro tools

has no riff at all - Axl uses way 2 many effects on his voice

Outro solo has some chromatic scaling going on

pretty cool there - No feel and no emotion

sounds like a band breaking up

Filler at best on a album

very disappointing

According to Slash, it wasn't specifically about Cobain or dedicated to him, but included him, too. He said the idea came when he heard that Savannah (the porn-star who he had been involved with for a time) had killed herself (that was about three months after Cobain), so it was kind about both and the state of someone ending up killing themselves.
