Who the hell said anything about silkworms?

I was talking about playing the same songs, some more old classics but changing around the order to keep it interesting. Also, if we're talking about the 85% we better take another look at that set, because Coma died a death at a lot of shows. Maybe they should only play SCOM, NV, Paradise city etc. or maybe they should put on a show that is entertaining and even if they do play an obscure or new song somewhere in the set, they won't lose huge portions of the crowd.

Have you honestly went to see them and not been bored? I love the band, but the set was boring in places the first time for all the reasons I mentioned earlier.

Also, back on point. I thought from what I heard that it sounded ok, Axl was a bit weak but I've heard him much worse on tour openers in the past.

Slash needs to cut the long jams.

Doesn’t sound too bad. Hair looks good. Here’s an interesting fact, hair grows. Cutting hair helps keep it healthy and helps regrowth. Keeping hair in cornrows for years will do some damage and hair thins out with age anyway. Cutting it short is a good idea. Looking forward to the tour. Hardschool will appear at some point I’m sure. Would love Breakdown or Don’t Damn Me on the setlist. Still would love Steven back but I’m enjoying GnR again and they’re back to work

I don't care how Axl looks, as long as he sounds great and even then I'm willing to accept a lot... as long as they would release new music.

Case in point: I really like Marilyn Manson's newer albums, but I didn't go to his shows :shrugs:

And I'm not bitching about Manson, because I somehow can't while I'm enjoying his music. It's just what it is.

I tend to agree, however you and I know what to expect.  I’m wondering what it would feel like as a casual fan who is seeing it for the first time.

Agree too somewhat, issue is let's say here in Melbourne they come back next year & sell out 80,000 at the MCG with the same set as 2017 three years later? Even the casual fans amongst that 80,000 will bitch & moan. Everyone on this forum will see them no matter what but the set is definitely overdue for a refresh

Hard to digest when he is the best guitarist in the world. If they are not going to add a different song into the set then maybe change the guitar solos but he is Slash, he can play for hours straight & I'll still listen.

I would prefer a no frills show approach, but i know the solos are for a reason. As the palladium was a shorter set we will see what the overall setlist looks like at the next show. Also if they do an oz show next year, hopefully they wont be late playing melbourne again.

seeeeeriously....what is the fuckin purpouse of Mel in this band!?!?

So basically she is there to add layers of sound to the live show.  She might play along with the songs on her keyboard or trigger the electronics and synths depending on the song.

It isn't uncommon at all for bands to play to backing tracks today in music.  In fact more bands play with backing tracks than play purely live, especially in giant arena/stadium shows.  The difference is with GnR instead of playing to backing tracks they actually have somebody up on stage playing along to the songs to give them a much more layered and enhanced feel.

Long gone are the days where a guitarist plugs into a Marshall and that's what you get man.  I actually really respect that GnR puts somebody on stage to perform this shit live rather than running it through a protools rig from the side of the stage.

They should do next year you would think. Problem I have is it will be the same setlist. Coma was cut from the set due to the late start. Bad traffic, Axl wanted to walk from Crown along the river to get to the show on time but management said no. They also asked for a police escort apparently.

I always tell people who complain about  the band having keyboards

If you want a band that is just Marshall. Listen to AC/DC. GNR has always been an innovative band

About the Melissa comments: (what for?) she is a great singer who worked with Brain and Bucket. I think she can contribute a lot in the studio and live it helps when there is someone who can play all the synth parts but can actually also do backing vocals that are great and not just passable at best. This will become even more important if Axl will release another album in the future imo.

She's an easy target for ridicule with her stage presence and the fact she does the synth thing for Guns live but she began playing piano when she was like...4. Started composing when she was 12.

Playing the synths is not the only thing she can do musically. She's extremely talented and I like her positive attitude and excitement on stage. Really liked Pitman and what he added to the band as well musically and image wise with his towl waving, falling on his ass drunk, and finally getting fired in a funny fuck you kind of way. He was too rock n' roll even for Gn'R but we got a fine replacement to handle synth duties.

Don't waste your time with a bunch of angry cowards.  For them, to belittle and ridicule people is a kind of therapy, they feel good doing it.  Therefore, nothing you say will change their posture, it is useless.
