It was the opener on the actual Rough Mixes discs. :shrugs:

Still doesnt make it a good opener. The first song of a cd has to either be an intro or to kick ass.

Those discs weren't sequenced in any particular way, except the discs progressed from most complete to least.

RM1 wasn't in any way a 'version' of the album.

Uhh ... Madagascar is Axl's statement to the world after returning from a loonnng hiatus ... I think the emotional weight of the lyrics makes it a great contender for opening track ... But thanks for your comment on one song's placement out of 44 ... lol
