With all due respect, coming from a guy who travels to the UK often for work and has many friends there, why do people like you feel the need to attack/trash/insult an entire country?  Yet, here you are, on a forum for a band from the USA (a rather drab band at this point, mind you), insulting all Americans.  I can confidently say you don't speak for all Brits, as the ones I know have a lot more common sense to not blindly throw insults like this around.  But I digress.

I, too, find these tributes to Kobe quite tacky.  All low-flying aircraft that day were grounded in LA due to the weather.  Someone made a foolish and selfish decision to fly... probably Kobe himself... and it cost him and 8 others their lives.   It's a tragedy, but tragedy's happen every day to common people all over the world, including 'classless' Americans, as you've so dubbed all of us.  They're all a shame, but tributes to the uber-privileged are just so tiresome.  We can agree there.

That aside, did you ever consider that Axl lives in LA and is a HUGE Lakers fan?  As is others in the band?  Kobe was known to be quite the stubborn arse, just like Axl, so they, I'm sure, connected on that level in a way we couldn't possibly understand.  If I could offer a bit of advice, if they want to pay a tribute to somebody they admired, whether you or I think it's tacky or not, let them do it and try not attack an entire populus of people from another country... on a forum for a band from that country.

Does anybody on here ever attack Brits for their obsession with a defunct monarchy?   Can I insult you because all that's all over the papers and news channels in your country is all about Harry and Meghan?  Two people that have absolutely no bearing on any of our lives.  Is it tacky when your country pays tribute to Princess Dianna at every turn, to this day?  Can we Americans call all Brits lifeless fools for the constant obsession over the royal family... the most uber-privileged group of people in the world that your hard earned money supports via taxation?

Will you be upset when Elizabeth kicks the bucket?  Will you be okay with the 'tacky' tributes to her when the time comes?

This is my first post ever on this forum, and probably the last (I like GNR and like to see photos and videos from their concerts... this forum seems to be a good place to find that stuff), but I just had to chime in when I read this comment.  It's incredibly insulting coming from someone in a country where it's people do the same types of things, and practically adore anything American.   A quick look at the 20 most popular websites visited by people in Britan in 2019 based on user traffic (https://www.lexiconnect.co.uk/top-20-uk-websites.html) finds that just about all of them have their home or origins in America (Google, Youtube, Facebook, etc.).  #16 on that list?  Pornhub.  That's classy.  American too!

So, what's really tacky here is someone from across the pond who feels the need to attack/insult an entire nation because he doesn't like some tribute to some American sports hero at some American band's concert, in America, on a forum for said American rock band.

As if his people never put their celebrities up on a pedestal as if they're some kind of Queen or King or Prince or something.   How silly would that be in the 21st century?

Pot, meet kettle.

I see you have a similar sense of humour to Axl...

Equally tired is all the bitching about setlist, weight, hair, etc. Nobody is forcing anyone to go, or even pay attention. So many people complain and say ‘I’m done with this shit’, only to be back next show with the same tired complaints

I stopped giving a shit about this band a long time ago. I'm still here for the same reasons people would slow down to look at a car crash.

Why get so bothered?. Does it have any affect on your daily life or in some way financially help or hinder you personally?.

All of your posts are complaining about the people complaining, with all due respect wouldn't this also apply to you?  Your posts are more about "sticking it to the haters" on here than actually discussing GNR

Well I guess I’m done with GNR for a while. Until the Buenos Aires show (which I’m attending) I won’t check any set lists or videos or anything. I’m the first one to defend Axl and his voice but it’s gone in lots of songs. I’m not trying to be a hater but I’m not liking this version of Axl and GNR either

Either Slash is telling the truth on recording material or not, I honestly think Axl is "scared" of going back into the studio again with Slash, since we all know what happened the last time and I dont think Axl wants to ruin that relationship again if him or Slash dont agree on the material. Anyways I've given up hope of a new record, the band is a corporate/ nostalgia act now compared to what it was, which is a fucking shame.

I don't think any material with the current lineup exists. Maybe some ideas or sketches.

I loved You're crazy! Not bad for the first time.. Obviusly he didn't rehearse it but not messed the lyrics. Ha ha

Axl obviously didn't rehearse enough or at all which is kind of embarrassing but expected at this point but aside from that was great. He still sounded good for the most part and I even like what Fortus added which is a rarity for me. Some good interplay but he stayed in his lane. Can't wait to see it after they run through it a couple times. That slow version has got to be one of my top 5 to 10 Gn'R songs ever recorded.

Just listened to You’re Crazy from last night. Harmonies were pretty good but really weak performance from Axl in my opinion, especially considering this was a highlight in the 2011-2013 shows.

I justs watched one from a different angle and he did look pretty out of shape and winded at points.. That is on him. Sounded great during other parts though. Too bad he couldn't ever pull it 100% together for this reunion. I am convinced getting in shape would have a positive effect on his overall performance.

Weren't there supposed to be highlights aired on TV tonight?

He’s in his 50’s. People get older. The crime is that they needed to do this a decade plus earlier

Agreed. I’m pretty sad about him sounding weak on it. He sounded great during the NuGNR era on it even if instrumentally the song felt off. Axl comes off to me like he just doesn’t give a shit about anything music wise anymore.

No doubt the reunion was a decade too late but his age really isn't an excuse. Slash, Dizzy, Izzy, Steven, Matt, Gilby, Frank, Fortus, and Duff are all in their 50's.. No one in AC/DC, Metallica, The Stones, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Slayer, KISS, Tesla, Anthrax, Alice Cooper, Van Halen, Cheap Trick or pretty much any of their peers have anyone in as bad shape as Axl and some old those guys have 20 plus years on him.  Excluding Vince Neil of course lol.

Age definitely plays a part in the voice thing but he sure doesn't do himself any favors.

I doubt Axl wants to throw away all of the CD era material to start fresh with slash and duff which is bound to be a sour point  and create tension.  Slash will probably quit again once he’s happy with the amount of cash he’s made touring.

I think he gives a sht or wouldn't do it at all. He puts in effort while on stage but doesn't seem to put in all the other work needed give the best performance possible. Is what it is at this point. Better than nothing.
