ArthurMorgan
August 20th, 1991 - The band, minus Axl, lands in Oslo, Norway for the following day's show. Izzy tells the Swedish production manager that there's a little problem. Nobody knows where Axl is. The rest of the band checks in at Grand Hotel. Later in the evening Axl's assistant calls and says they're in Paris, France. August 21st, 1991 - At around five or six o'clock in the morning, Axl's assistant calls the hotel to tell them that Axl won't make it for tonight's show. The show at Spektrum in Oslo, Norway is cancelled. This is from the timeline on HTGTH. Does anyone know the reason why Axl ditched this show? Been wondering about this for a while. They played the other nordic shows. Edit: Also, this was one of Izzy's last shows. My guess is that this didn't exactly make the decision to leave any harder.. foreverguns
How Axl hasn't had his ass kicked every single day of his life is beyond me :))
SoulMonster
It would be claimed that Axl struggled with a throat infection at the time, and presumably needed to rest his voice.

Waemoth
It's a shame that it was down to him hurting himself, but the Euro 1991 shows are some of his best performances IMO. Him singing in Oslo would have either sounded epic, or like absolute garbage if his voice did fail. The recording from Copenhagen is just insane.

I read your thoughts on the Noblesville show about enjoying Axl's fucked-up voice, so my guess is Axl's voice was pretty hoarse/rough on the Copenhagen show? By the way, is the Copenhagen show an audience recording?

Quality is pretty mediocre for the Copenhagen gig, the one from the second night of Stockholm is much, much better.

And here I thought SCOM had enough rasp in Tokyo '92 I'm not a rasp hater, but some songs i just enjoy clean most of the time. BUT the VARIETY is one of the things I enjoy som much about their live performances. Sometimes I put on Noblesville because the raspier versions are what I wanna listen to. Shame he royally fucked his voice over and over, but maaaaan did he give it all. Might need to check out that Stockholm recording some time!!
