James Hetfield Returns

Recommended Posts

Too bad he got a military haircut, I was digging the mullet he had going on last year. Maybe being sober makes you want to have a dull hairdo? (note to self: never stop drinking)

I did really like the speech they gave in 2002 when they were honouring Aerosmith for MTV Icon. They were like little fan boys, very nervous, looking up to their musical heroes but also very sincere and personal, especially Hetfield. (who had just gotten out of rehab at that time too!)

I can't post the youtube link anymore obviously....

Funny, I was actually thinking about that when I posted it!

Glad he was able to bounce back pretty quickly. I was super saddened to see he had fallen into old habits again.

well good for him if it was not cut short because of touring obligations... they started booking shit right after he went in as if they somehow knew how long he would be?  Thats not how rehab works

Gotcha. He has always looked like the cowardly lion, especially when he had long hair.

I remember he got the locks cut when he came out of rehab the first time around. He seems to age very well. A band that likes to release music for the fun of it.

That’s not really a mullet though. Mullet is short on top and long at the back. It all looks the same length there, just slowly growing out again.

Either way, it’s great to see James back again.

Still waiting for them to reschedule their cancelled Australia tour. And it was a kick in the nuts when they announced these new 2020 US festival dates after just cancelling the Aussie tour. But I’m still hoping they’ll be back here soon

I know, I know, party in the back and business in the front, but it kinda looked like a mullet because of his receding hairline.

I used to have a real mullet:

Alcohol would make someone look puffier than weed though, correct?

Apparently Metallica has dropped out of the Sonic Temple festival in Ohio in mid May, and RHCP will be headlining in their place instead for the first night, and Tool on the last night.

Wonder why Metallica dropped out. Is James still having issues? Does anyone here know?

Dear Metallica Family,

It pains me to write this, but I have to let all of you know that I cannot make it to Sonic Temple in Columbus and Louder Than Life in Louisville this year. As part of my continuing effort to get and stay healthy, I have critical recovery events on those weekends that cannot be moved. I apologize to all of our fans who have bought tickets for these festivals. We are working with the festival promoters to provide for refunds or exchanges. My intent with this statement is saying “I apologize” to each one of you. The reality is that I have not prioritized my health in the past year of touring and I now know that my mental health comes first. That might sound like a no-brainer for most of you but I didn’t want to let the Metallica team/family down and, I alone, completely compromised myself.

Looking on the brighter side, my therapy is going well. It was absolutely necessary for me to look after my mental, physical, and spiritual health.

I want to stress that the band will play all other announced 2020 shows.

I am looking forward to getting back to playing and seeing all our great South American fans in April. And, of course, playing Epicenter in Charlotte, Welcome to Rockville in Daytona and Aftershock in Sacramento. We will still play two unique sets at each of these festivals.

Beyond 2020, I am optimistic about the blessings I have been given and what the future brings. I appreciate all the great prayers and support from everyone since I went into rehab last September. Like the moth into the flame, being human in this career has its huge challenges and can be difficult. Your understanding helps the healing.

– James

Glad James is taking his health and recovery seriously. You never know what goes on with these tours. I commend him for getting well and staying that way.

Their fans should understand if they want Metallica to continue touring and doing music.
