A second chance for mankind. Obviously, we blew that chance but at that time everything was still possible. Elvis is pretty much background music all day long. it drives my wife nuts. They weren't ever so fantastic y'know. On the surface of it you have rock n roll and Elvis and all that stuff but it was also a very staid and culturally repressed time, hence the need for and eventual popularity of rock n roll. Hence why a lot of freaky fuckers came out of that time, all the Beat Generation writers that were so influential to the on-coming hippie generation. Beneath the facade is where you often find out whats really going on. John Waters the film director also speaks of the 1950s and being a terribly repressive time. Everyone looks back at Elvis in the 50s and being this glorious time but its worth noting y'know that very soon after his getting big it was all protests about 'this evil n!gger rock n roll bringing us all down to the level of the black man'. And thats without stopping and thinking about what the 50s was also like for black people, if thats the sort of stick a white fella got for just playing their music.

I'm loving the '50s - the utopia - rather than the real 50s I guess. The romantic image that is depicted about these times. They could condence the romantic 50s in a book, the good stuff, and that would basically be an inspiration to all of us. It's all in my mind though, it isnt real Edited March 17, 2020 by action

This is the thing- in these types of set-up is there any point avoiding the neighbours? We're all about the same age and get on well, if we can't go out and socialise we could at least hang out with each other even if we're not leaving the building. EvanG
Most people at the office are gone but no working from home for little old me so I spend all day at the office working with numbers and figures that mean nothing to me and I couldn't care less about. But I'm not bitter. Oh no. At least I've got my health and incredible good looks, hm?

I'm confused as im pretty sure i would be entitled to SSP of £94.25 a week. This shit ain't funny anymore. Is there no way you can work from home or anything? You are entitled to SSP no matter what they say your company is legally obliged to give you that if you're still employed.

Gracii Guns
Good work @Dazey. My co-working space has closed. Last week I was my city's hottest freelance designer, and this week I've not had a single enquiry. Plus, I managed to screw a job up for a client, so that's down the drain. I'm hoping that we're all just adjusting to working in a new set of circumstances. People still want to run their businesses. I hope it's just a quiet couple of weeks before people get planning how they're going to work things out. In the meantime, my challenge is to keep my two year old entertained. Im thinking that a lot of lower tier/ beginner online content creators will be trying to use the shut-in time to up there game. I think there will be a million new yt channels launched. And I think that will also include successful YouTubers with cash. After this YouTuber parlance will have to develop a less clunky way of saying "For more on that you can head on over to my other, other, other, other, second channel." Im sure you know infinitely more than me about that market. But I thought Id mention it in case you want to throw your hat into that ring (if you dont already). Just thoughts. Prolly wrong. Maybe Im the only one who now has an ASMR channel where I read a section of Gramsci and then slurp noodles, lol.

Behave, the UK government isn't about giving concrete instructions We're just told to stop unnecessary contact and if anyone in a household has symptoms the whole household has to isolate for 14 days after the first showed symptoms. No discussion over how many people together is too many or what to do in close living situations such as small blocks of flats. They assume we're all in mansions and can isolate in separate wings Either way, there's only 9 of us in the building so if it's going to spread between us it wouldn't take long. I'll take some time to upload my work to portfolio sites. I don't have the skill/patience for YouTube, but I could certainly follow a few Photoshop tuts, which is something I've barely improved at over the last few years. Thanks for suggesting this. I bet tonnes of new podcasts are going to come from this.
James Bond
I recently got rid of my Xbox One because the laser died and rather than get it fixed I cut my losses and figured I'll hold off until the Series X releases later this year. lilacmess
Day 7. Beautiful spring day in our garden. I am harshly judging all neighbours who are gathering in groups chatting. The rest of the country is on day 3. I can feel everyone getting bored and itchy. I think I'm going to have a glass of wine tonight. soon
Lots of time for reflection lately. Ive spent some time just sitting around and forgiving people. Connecting with grace. Feeling compassion. Although, I just hope this will continue when I have to actually see them again! 1

dontdamnmeuyi2015
Gov Abbott of Texas spoke today. Another senior died in Arlington. I know they are doing all they can, but it's still sad to hear about someone else dying. People are still shopping everyday and hording paper products and any food the store has. I don't think the employees can stock fast enough. I'm going to the store alot more just to get what I need. I'm working from home too since my daughter is now home. her teacher gave us websites to do homework each day, so she doesn't get too far behind. I'm scared all these kids will have to repeat the grades they are in now before they can move on. Texas has suspended their Stars testing, which is good. Trump has sent a hospital ship to NYC to help with patients. I'm doing yoga with my brother just to relieve stress. Stay well people. 2 hours ago, soon said: Lots of time for reflection lately. That is amazing. that is the good that is coming out of this whole crisis. People helping people and trying to do better in our lives. I'm sure you will be able to continue being a good person. I'm sure you always were a good person.

A lot of my job involves traveling to and from different sites for meetings etc so with that part removed it leaves a good chunk of the day for my FIFA career. Once I figure out how to get online with it I'm gonna be challenging people on here to a game.
