TEXT: Rocker Axl Rose just got hit with a lawsuit by a Los Angeles art dealer who says he backed out of a deal to

buy a $2.3 million Andy Warhol portrait of John Lennon. The Acquire d'Arte gallery charges in L.A. Superior

Court that, after agreeing to buy the painting, Rose's manager said Axl didn't like the price or didn't have

enough money for final payments. The gallery wants $1.1 million in damages. Rose's lawyer Howard

Weitzman tells us: "Axl owes nothing," adding: "[He] may be the victim of a fraud or misrepresentation."

AXL ROSE (right) really has a problem finishing things. The dreadlock-adorned frontman of GUNS N' ROSES is not only, oh, roughly 12 years late with the former heavy-metal titan's much postponed new album, Chinese Democracy but now he's forgotten to fork over about $1.5 million he owes as the second payment on a portrait of John Lennon produced by ANDY WARHOL (middle right). Rose, who is being sued by broker Acquire d'Arte, laid down half the cost but since then his manager has told the dealers, "The painting was not worth the price he had agreed to pay." Hopefully Rose will extend this policy to Chinese Democracy if - not when - it's released, with fans paying 50 per cent upfront and then deciding if they want to give Rose a cent more after they've listened to it. ...
