3 1/2 years after CD was released, how do you rate the songs? (1 to 10 scale)

Ok, so I've been exclusively listening to CD for the past couple of days and I'm getting more and more into it. I don't know if it's that I'm getting used to it or if I'm listening to it without a judgmental attitude. Either way, I've discovered that I like more songs than I thought.

I just wanted to ask you, how do you rate the songs on CD today, 3 1/2 after it was released, on a 1 to 10 scale?

Chinese Democracy 7/10

Shackler's Revenge 7/10

Better 7/10

Street of Dreams 7/10

If the world 6/10

There was a time 3/10

Catcher in the rey 7/10

Scraped 4/10

Riad N the Bedouins 4/10

Sorry 7/10

IRS 6/10

Madagascar 6/10

This I love 7/10

Prostitute 6/10

Chinese Democracy 3 (too generic)

Shackler's Revenge 5 (I like Buckethead)

Better 4 (enough of the bitter heartbreak stuff)

Street of Dreams 2 (this version sucks compared to when it was "The Blues")

If the world 1 (I like rock)

There was a time 4 (kind of a jumbled up mess)

Catcher in the rye 5 (tolerable but not something I seek to listen to)

Scraped 1 (just makes me cringe)

Riad N the Bedouins 1 (just because SCOM was a hit, there's no need to ohhh ohhh ohhh through a whole song)

Sorry 2 (slow and depressing in a bitter way)

IRS 4 (good potential but a song about snitching? No thanks)

Madagascar 2 (OK, i get it Axl. You think you're the innocent victim. How MLK's speech is considered relevant to his personal issues is beyond me. Just seems like it craps on the speech by distorting it to fit petty issues)

This I love 4 ( enough of the heart break please! get pissed man. Enter the pissed stage and appeal to those that can pick themselves off of the ground!)

Prostitute 6 (I can tolerate it)

i can't believe people still listen to the album. i put it on twice, but never managed to get through the whole thing in one listen. such a looooooong, sulky time. it's like listening to heavy tori amos to me. only it hurts more, because i hear axl's voice and keep expecting something cool to happen.

Believe it. I love Chinese Democracy and I'll continue to enjoy it. Tori Amos is cool too.

I think the 1 to 10 scale kinda sucks so I'll just name my favorites:

Better, Street Of Dreams, There Was A Time, Catcher In The Rye, Madagascar, This I love, and Prostitute are fucking great imo.

Chinese Democracy, Shackler's Revenge, Sorry, and I.R.S come close and are stilll awesome

If The World and Riad are songs that I really like with cool moments

and Scraped is the one song I don't care for. The riff is nice tho.

Btw, Oh My God is one of the top songs of the new era to me. Right up there with my favorites from the album.

Chinese democracy is 8/10 record in my opinion. It's little bit overproduced but I still love it :) UYI2>AFD>CD>YUI1>Lies>TSI

chinese democracy = 10 EPIC Robin Finck riff and solo

I guess it's epic if you like the theme song from Beverly Hills 90210. Also, Josh Freese wrote that riff and even he has claimed it is generic and nothing special.

I can tolerate Prostitute, IRS and Better only because it's Axl Rose, so I have some patience.

But I believe the song Chinese Democracy is indicative of the entire album - keeps building and building up but nothing amazing ever ends up happening.

I don't remember Josh ever saying that. Source?

I think Robin's Chinese Democracy solo really fits the song and is very energetic. It goes really well with Bucket's solo right after it.

To each his own.

I think there are amazing moments and great songs on the album. Like how There Was Time and Catcher build to the great outros or How Better explodes with the bridge or the emotion of the last part of Streets Of Dreams.

It's all there for me. :shrugs:
