Ok shitty speakers here on office computer- do any of you have the lyrics for Going Down yet? Thanks if you can post them.

Digging the opening melody and the vibe of this song. Gets a bit muddy in the middle with the wha wha pedel but so far of all the new material Im giving this a chance. I would like Axl on lead vocals as well as most you probably do.

Theres an Izzy vibe to this song in my opinion as well.

Spirit posted partial lyrics in another thread, I have added a few lines to it (opening section is very hard to make out):

GOING DOWN (Tommy Stinson)

I've known my share of pain
It's a crown of thorns
That never seems to break the skin
There's no blood in the scars

Just your broken fall (heart)

You used to be so sweet
You walked (woke) with a smile
(Life) tastes funny and the coffee's cold
Amuse yourself, make you useful

Pre-chorus:
You've got nothing good to say
Keep your mouth shut
Nothing good to do
Keep it to yourself
Nothing's ever good enough for you

Chorus:
Sick of everything that you say
It's going down
Sorry for everything
Sick of everything that you do
It's going down
You look like a fool
You never mean to hurt no one
They just happen to be there next to you
As you're going down

I know this dark place
I heard these words
On the tip of a million tongues (a million times)
I've heard them yelled

I've even heard them sung

Get into your car and drive
Just as fast as you can
You've had your 15 minutes
You tried to take an hour but
Now no one, hears your call

Pre-chorus

Chorus X 2

'Cause you're going down
You're going down

'Cause you're going down
You're going down

Nothing's good enough for you

The world is shaking

To find out why we never seem to make love to the stars

And miss you baby

We used to be so sweet

Walk with a smile

The taste is sour the cup is cold

Use this thing to make so good

RISE

You've got nothing good to say

Keep your mouth shut

Nothing good to do

Mirror talks to you

Nothing's ever good enough for you

CHORUS

Sick of everything you say as you're goin' down

Sorry for everything

Sick of everything that you do as your going down

Look like a fool

Never Meant to hurt noone

just happened to be there next to you

As you were going down

I know this dark place

I heard these words

I've heard them a million times before

I've heard them yelled I've even heard them sung

Get into your car and drive just as fast as you can

You had your 15 minutes you tried to take an hour

Now Noone needs your call

REPEAT RISE

REPEAT CHORUS

As you're goin' down

As you're goin' down

goin' down

BUMBLEFOOT SOLO

CHORUS

As you were goin down, goin down (x4)

Nothings good enough for you.

Lyrics may be slightly off.

Nice, I think it's definitely "crown of thorns", changed that. It could be "blood" instead of "love", sounds like a word than ends in "s", but your version makes sense. Next line "Just your broken heart" could be something like "broke apart" ?

I know the word 'scar' is used in a couple of Tommy's songs. Seems to be a recurring theme. But that's just my guess.

The last line is definitely 'Just your'...broken face, fate, fame? That's a hard one.

I'm interested in third line of:

I know this dark place

I heard these words

???? unfamiliar terms

Lier has 'I've heard them a million times before'

However, I'm thinking the word 'tongues' is in there. Another Tommy favourite.

I heard these words,

I heard them on the *** of a million tongues

I heard them **** unfamilar tongues

'' '' on familiar tongues

Yeah, it's a tough one. Once you get it right you can usually tell, but in this case it could be a group of unfamiliar terms, million tongues, million times. I am starting to lean towards "a million times" but I cannot figure out what comes before that, there is a syllable that sounds like "group" in there.

It reminds me of breaking down IRS lyrics from that first leak, there was one line "I bet you think I'm doing this all for my health" that no one could figure out, then as soon as someone posted that line it was "Duh, it's so obvious now lol".

Yeah - Tommy can be tough enough to decipher. Some of his solo stuff I simply have no idea on certain lines. But there are a lot of clever lyrics too, which makes it difficult when we're thinking of obvious words and phrases.

is it me or does this seem like Tommy singing about Axl? look i don't know what the song is about and how is the relationship between Axl and Tommy (and i couldn't care less) but as i heard it this is what i thought of straight away,

i guess after watching Tommy throw his guitar and walk of the stage i kind of always think of him as being miffed by Axl :shrugs:

Get into your car and drive
Just as fast as you can
You've had your 15 minutes
You tried to take an hour
Not no one, easy call

Imagine if it is indeed about Axl... how cunning they have him singing the backing chorus :takethat:

Nice call on "tongues". I was thinking about the part where I heard "group", and I think I figured it out, it's "tip" - "on the tip of a million tongues". A nice turn of phrase that seems to fit.

The part where you suggested "blood" - it sounds like "bugs" or something than ends in s ... thought about "lines", still tough to nail that one down.

Corrected a few words that were slightly off, I think this is getting pretty close now. Underlined the parts that are still unclear.

Maybe the lyrics are about us.

Strikes me more of a song about an ex. Except for the bit about the lines about "i heard these words on the tip of a million tongues".

But the chorus definitely seems like about an ex - "you never meant to hurt no one, they just happen to be there next to you". And that stuff about "you had you 15 minutes, but you tried to take an hour". Seems like a girl that overwelcomed her stay and he got sick of her.

i guess i got it totally wrong. here's what i heard, as a NON native speaker

Going Down

I've known my share of pain
It's a crown of thorns
That never seems to break the skin
There's no blood in the scars
Just your broken heart

You used to be so sweet

You walked with a smile

...............

................

If you got nothing good to say keep your mouth shut

Nothing good to do, do it to yourself

Nothing's ever good enough for you

Think about the things you say as you’re going down

Sorry for everything

Think about the things you do as you’re going down

You look like a fool

Never mean to hurt no one but it just happened

To the feeling next of you. you’re going down

I noticed gods face

I heard these words

I heard them from above for a million times

I heard them yell i even heard them sung

Get into your car and drive, just as fast as you can

You had your 15 minutes you tried to take an hour

Now no one is your cock

you got nothing good to say keep your mouth shut

Nothing good to do, do it to yourself

Nothing's ever good enough for you

Think about the things you say as you’re going down

Sorry for everything

Think about the things you do as you’re going down

You look like a fool

Never mean to hurt no one but it just happened

To the feeling next of you. you’re going down
