Should summer USA Tour be Stadium or Amphitheatre?

They don't have to tour whole US.

They're playing 5 gigs in Brazil, all in South and Southeast. North and Northeast of the country don't have any gig booked, and some friends I have will have to travel more than 3.000 km to see the band live.

Do you guys think they could sell out stadiums if they did a whole tour here like Canada? No way.

Look, Metallica and AC/DC sold out their stadium concert in 3 days, and it was a stadium MUCH BIGGER, with capacity for 72,000 people. BUT, it was only one concert (Metallica added another date, but it was after).

Guns N' Roses is playing one gig in Argentina, for 65,000 people, and it sold out in less then two weeks.

If GNR was playing only one concert in Brazil, in a huge stadium, it would be already sold out too, but instead, they're playing 5, for almost 130,000 people:

Brasília (gym) : 15 thousand

Belo Horizonte (gym): 20 thousand

São Paulo (stadium): 45 thousand

Rio (park): 40 thousand

Porto Alegre (gym): 20 thousand

So what do you prefer, a lot of small venues (canada) or just some big venues concerts?

Saw AC/DC at Gillette Stadium outside of Boston, Massachusetts over the Summer, and THAT wasn't even sold out...Saw Stone Temple Pilots in an arena, where the stage was set up at Center Ice so that only half the seats where used, and that was full, GnR would fill arenas in the US to near capacity and sell out larger cities..

With that said, Arena/Amphitheatres, are the way to go for sure

Where the band plays is up to the manager and the tour promoter, what's going to make the most money, past history with a specific venue, and they take weather into account. Outdoor venues usually have more curfew issues than indoor arenas. Something like a weekend festival show like Coachella winds up being an exception to that.

As far as American fans over European fans or Asian fans go - I don't think one is more or less rowdy than the other, because the crowd is usually mixed with people from all over anyway.

They can't sell out stadiums in Canada, so they played in smaller venues.

They can sell out stadiums in South America, so they're playing in stadiums.

It's all relative! Can they sell out stadiums in US?

I hate simple minds.

They're playing what, like 12 shows in all of South America? Of course they're going to sell out a few stadiums. Canada has a tiny population. They could have done four stadiums and sold them out if they wanted to there, but they spread the wealth around a little bit and played more shows in smaller venues to make it easier for fans to get to.

They'll do the same thing in the States. They'll play about 25-30 shows in arenas. More than double the amount of shows they'll play in South America, and ultimately more fans in the states will see the band. And they won't have to travel hundreds of miles and pay for hotel rooms and take time off work to see the band.

If anything, GNR is screwing South Americans. I'd be a bit upset if I had to make special travel plans to go see my favorite band. But, I won't have to worry about that. I could hop in a cab and go a few blocks to see them and be back in my bed a few hours later.

I can only imagine how much nicer it is to play Europe, Asia, and South America for them. In those places, the fans are non-judging, into it, energetic and loud. In North America, the fans are full of judgement, quiet, and they are just standing still watching the show.

I've been to a few GNR gigs in North America. NYC, Philly, Baltimore, DC. The fans in those venues were non-judging, into it, energetic and loud.

So I don't know what the hell you're talking about. You clearly don't, either.

No, I didn't read your other post. Unlike a lot of people on this forum, I only come on here for entertainment once a day or so for a few minutes. So I don't read every single post or thread.

Back on topic, your other post makes sense. So why are you completely contradicting yourself? What's your point? Because the post I quoted makes it sound like you're some arrogant South American gloating they can sell out a few stadiums in South America.

As you pointed out in your original post though, yes, if GNR was to only do a dozen shows in the states, europe, anywhere... in stadiums... they'd sell them out. It's called supply and demand.

But you can't expect GNR or any act for that matter to sell out 30 stadiums on one continent, anywhere.
