  2. It always confuses when people come to a discussion board just to get upset that people are discussing when they have a different opinion. Critiquing doesn't necessarily mean complaining. Conversely, if you liked it, great. People are allowed to be underwhelmed by the content. If you go to work for eight hours you expect to be paid for eight hours. If the boss only pays you for five do you just accept it and be happy with what you got, or do you speak up? In other words, one can appreciate that Fernando is keeping his word while also being willing to discuss and/or critique the performanc

  3. But he can't sing. People have just lowered their expectations so much that they'll accept any shit that's offered. If a random man got up singing karaoke like that in a pub, he would be booed and jeered and laughed at. People give him a pass because he's Axl Rose and he can hide behind the great musicianship of players like Slash, Buckethead, Bumblefoot et al. But lets be real here for a moment, Axl Rose sounds like dog shit. I wouldn't dare play this to any of my friends or family, would you?

  4. When the band don't post a video they get shit. When they post a video they also get shit, no pleasing some people. Sure it isn't perfect (afterall it is a live performance), but i am grateful the band are doing this and look forward to the next one!

  5. And we are omitting the constant arm pointing the roof that annoys me reaaaaaaally bad...Come on, Axl can sing weak nowadays but when you watch him you can notice his legendary artistic aura...very few have it, Axl is one of those few.

  6. I said it before, it sucks that there's always so much to complain about and I'm sure almost every member of this board is sick and tired of it. But really, it's like they're asking for it, again and again. Why the fuck did they choose these performances now?! Axl sounds like fucking Mickey Mouse on every single song, with a couple of seconds that sound like angry Mickey Mouse. It's shit. It just is. So people will complain.

  8. Ok, now that i've seen the whole thing - I don't really have a problem with anything (energy level, the whole vibe, the drumming, etc.), but I will never watch it again. Because of the vocals. Axl sounds exactly like Mickey Mouse. That ruins it all to the point that it sounds like a joke, a parody. It's laughable, sadly. I can't deal with that much mouse.

  9. I’m very pleased! Great to have Slither in this quality, Axl sounds great on it. Slash recovers nicely from accidentally playing the first solO of SCOM again at the second break before the final chorus, hahahahaha. The track list is excellent. This was quite enjoyable and I’m happy they posted it.

  10. Yeah, it's a shitshow, but we didn't need pro-shot "selects" to find that out. Axl's sounded dreadful for years. This band are a disgrace and it's all on Axl. It's kind of funny seeing the drones in the audience singing along, seemingly in their own little world, pretending it's 1992. No, it doesn't sound better in person. You've been had and you just don't want to admit it. I would be embarrassed to be caught on camera looking like I'm enjoying this shit. It's painful and you look like a twat, a mug, having paid top dollar to witness a guy who doesn't even have the basic respe

  11. They are not performing together, more like alongside. And they sound total shit, ruining some of the best rock songs ever made. I've seen street musicians, trashy cover bands in pubs and even living room musicians on Youtube playing the songs with more love and life than these boring old farts who wrote them. I'm not expecting them to sound like 1988 or still "feel" songs every night they've played a zillion times over and over again. Everyone gets older and everyone can have a bad day or a night off. It's ok, really. But this has absolutely no heart, no soul, no passion. Just

  12. Yeah. I'm watching now and enjoying the video very much. I've seen and enjoyed 5 shows in 2018, so I know what to expect. Read a few 'anyone who likes this is deaf and blind' comments, and others calling that 'healthy debate' and decided not to bother with the rest of the thread I feel like a fangirl again though. Still hoping for a NITL release. Thanks Fernando for putting this up. You see some of us are grateful

  13. It’s so much more apparent to me the more shows and vids I’ve seen of NITL that the 2006 lineup was the best sounding lineup they’ve had since the original 5. They just don’t sound good together live anymore. None of them. Top to bottom. Wish Finck and Tommy were back. At least there was integrity there. Axl should have trusted his gut and stayed with his hired guns. Slash at times, trying to reinvent things, is just as bad as axl trying to keep the same pitch/tone he used 30+ years ago...they are pushing the performance instead of feeling it.

  14. How dare anyone compare Myles with Axl...its like comparing the guy in Wolfmother with Robert Plant for godsake. Axl and Myles are different categories... Do I like Myles in his own songs? YES I DO THOUGH HE TEND TO BORE ME AFTER A WHILE...but saying he should replace Axl should be punished with death penalty hahahah

  15. No. Myles Kennedy sucks live. Mickey Axl is preferable to ANY version of MK. I can't listen to him at all.

  17. I think Slither is great but the rest of it makes me sad. At this point, I’d like to see Slash, Izzy, Steven and Duff tour without Axl. Call it whatever you want, but it would be more entertaining than this. Seriously sad now...I never asked for this version of the band.

  19. Me.. I love seeing all the classics live.. Plus they haven't been here is 3 years.. And I go of tons of shows.. In my opinion they really do switch it up more than most bands. If people weren't analyzing set lists online every day it would be a non issue. I would say yes for the most part. I am sure there are nights they feel like shit and would rather not be up there but it must still be a high playing in front of all those people who are there you see your music.

  21. This are my thoughts on yesterday's video, after watching it a few times: - I have nothing to criticize about the video itself. I think management realized we are not stupid and that we DID notice the lack of Axl on the previous one. I loved the quality of this one, both audio and video wise. Those who say the mix sucks, well, then you should hear ISE and WTTJ from the Highlights TV show that Download aired themselves the weekend after the gig. Audio was vastly improved. - For this one, the critics should be entirely to the band. Honestly I don't think it was that bad, for GNR 2018-2

  22. I couldn’t watch it through ... believe me or not but I just couldn’t. The band is good, crowd, camera work and sound are also pretty ok. But Axl ruins it for me. Each time he tries to sing I skipped forward until I finally had to give up.

  23. Axl's still a great performer. Slash is amazing, Duff is really great. They put on a top show. Most people at the show are thrilled afterwards and the reviews are mostly positive. So the negative stuff you get here is not at all what you get at a show. People go to a show, are all excited about a great performance, only to read on here that it actually sucked.

  24. It’s funny because that’s the exact feeling I get from Slash and Duff now....I never felt that about Nu Guns. They had something to prove.

  25. Yeah, it sounds like that's what they were going for, but it's as you said... Maybe they should try to work out a harmony with Axl and Melissa (Axl singing lower, Melissa higher). I like her singing and wouldn't mind hearing her more prominently during shows, even though the idea probably makes some purists recoil in horror

  26. I enjoy it. This the gnr current status I believe. Sometimes better sometimes not. But I am very happy that the band finally decided to upload all those songs. Hoping to get selects from all the shows of the tour.

  27. Rocket Queen...seriously...what the fuck??? Whatever happened to the slide guitar solo, Axl half-assing the entire song, piss poor drumming/rhythm section, Slash pointless talk box noodling, Richard's aimless shredding...if they hate this song so much why do they even bother trying to perform it? Just look at the crowd trying to clap along during the climax and the band isn't even picking up on it or giving them a reaction...while everyone does his own thing on stage not even looking at each other totally mailing it in. Just sad. I would cut them all slack if this was from their

  28. The side-chain compression use on the band is used pretty fucking well here, Duff sounds thick and fat, exactly what a bass should be doing, the guitars are present and clearly audible, and a weak Axl Rose cuts through with enough definition that you can get with what he's doing. People like YOU make ME chuckle!

  31. There are always new fans, as well as the people that miss them every time completely unaware the bands in their city. So each time they play a city there's probably thousands of people seeing them for the 1st time. Not to forget the portion of the fanbase that just never get tired of those songs, and the other portion who would defend the band and their performances no matter the cost. Takeaway is the hits in a GNR set are never going away.... unless they play an intimate club date specific to nightrain subscribers... even then those loons would want SCOM. Yeah Australia gets a rough go

  33. I would really like a studio version (side B) of Slither with Axl rasping his lines on the chorus with his melody...that would turn that song into something else for sure...

  34. Slash is clearly the star of the show. I just wish Axl would sing in a manner that fits his current voice. Like on Slither, he sounds pretty good for most of it, but he strains trying to hit some notes.

  35. I wonder who said "hey let's upload Slither, Rocket Queen, YCBM and SCOM. Axl always sounds great on those songs!" They could not have picked worse songs than that. Maybe the first performance of Dead Horse from 2019. RELEASE SOMETHING FROM 1986-1993 OR 2006/7, 2009/10. 2016 would be okay too. Also I can't believe people are into this.

  37. Just watched this. Thoughts: In general, very good. Having read the comments on here first I was very pleasantly surprised as I was expecting a horror show. Slash on fire. Loving the green guitar. Excellent all round. Simples! Duff's bass licks are great, loving the funky stuff during the RQ intro. Attitude great. Fortus solid and harmless as ever. RQ solo totally unnecessary!, but he's a gifted player and can shred a bit. Don't like the rhythm bit he plays under the RQ solo though, far too cheesy. Dizzy / Melissa might as well have not been there (for these 5 so

  38. At this point I’m convinced that the Lebeis family, after years of telling Axl he still sounds amazing, have bought into their own lie and can’t tell the difference anymore. I can’t understand why they’re choosing some of Axl’s worst performances and why they would highlight YCBM and SCOM in the same video, along with choosing SCOM for the Super Bowl show. I almost wouldn’t highlight YCBM period, I know it’s a classic but it’s embarassing at this point and shouldn’t even be in the setlist. Actual video, sound was way better than last week. Slither pro shot is exciting. I just wish Ax

  43. Yeah ‘cos singing in time is too much for one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time, if only he had learnt that at some stage over the past 40yrs, imagine what he could have become? Maybe when he gets better at this “singing in time” he’ll really develop into something. Is there anything else you think he could learn?

  44. He kinda jumped up onto one of the monitors on stage, and must've cracked the bone immediately because he just as quickly fell backwards. Got back up, pants split, broken foot and kept fucking going. -- I knew the "ought" would get flack, obviously, there's a lot of "oughts"-- but seeing Duff talking about the Troubadour, spurred this post. I had to at least put it out there... Initially I was thinking they could shoot something new from there, but as you guys have pointed out-- There already is footage from the 2016 show and streaming that odyssey would probably fetch more in

  45. I was quite enjoying watching this, girlfriend (who has no interest in the band nor has seen any other modern-era recordings) walked in, and said immediately "why does he sound like Mickey Mouse?" I did absolutely piss myself laughing at the bluntness! She's really not a harsh or critical person-she just called it exactly as she heard it.

  46. The mix was better, but still poor! Positive is tou could clearly hear Axl. The drum mix was poor, almost zero of the overheads, you could barely hear the ride, crashes and hats it was basically all kick and snare and they were fairly drowned out in places... eq, compression it's really not difficult to make a half decent powerful drum sound. The mix like ths last one, does not capture the power of the band live. Performance wise it was about as good as the last one. At the very least Axl was trying on RQ. His voice sounded fairly shot though. Not sure what the answer is considering they

  49. So out of respect for the BLM protests, Fernando said they weren’t uploading videos at the moment. Then on June 19 of all days, he decides to upload? We already knew he was full of shit, but this proves it. Regardless, I’m pumped for it.
