  1. There's one thing called "media theory". The thing is: people are not robots. Axl Rose isn't telling people "how to vote, save the planet, and telling what to eat". People read this and make up their own minds based on their own knowledge and experiences. It's beyond stupid assuming an old rockstar political view would be taken as gospel. Like others mentioned, there's this little thing called freedom of speech. Anyone is entitled to speak their minds about anything. If there's one thing to consider, it's the effects on his own career. On the other hand, why on earth any of us woul

  2. Everybody has a right to express their opinions from bus driver to nurse to librarian, why not singers, entertainers etc, if you dont like it dont read it and carry on enjoying the show. As for myself I am glad with anybody that wants to criticise this man (Trump) who is a total embarresment to his ccountry and dangerous. Axl has been most articulate in his opposition and expresses what many people would like to express. In no way does this impact on my enjoyment of GNR s' music, the same with any other musician who may speak with a political voice.

  3. There are no full pro-shots from the NITL era as yet, and there’s no official DVD either – the management (who has won several awards for the best rock-band management in the world) deems it to be unfair to release anything of this sort as long as stuff is happening in the world; so as soon as things will stop happening in the world, we may actually receive a DVD (probably something from 2019 or so). Also, they are allegedly hiring people (for video editing, PR etc.). They said "F’n Patience, fam". They seem to be real professionals. Fingers crossed. Edit: However, we’ve been promised th

  7. Haven’t read the discussion, but I’ll say this: Trevor Noah uploaded a video in June I think (more than 9 million views on the day I was watching it) where he talked about why the reactions of the whole BLM are this extreme (I strongly recommend the video). It may not be the most diplomatic way, but if one party of the "agreement" doesn’t follow its obligations (treating everyone equal etc.), then peaceful, diplomatic, non-threatening meek methods won’t work, or it may take too much time while people are dying etc., so quicker demonstration is due. Don’t wanna get into this, but the principle

  9. This isn’t an airport. You don’t have to announce your departure. The guy accusing Biden of some Marxist trojan horse is accusing others of being an ideologue. Rich. What I expect is people to be able to defend their opinions should they choose to offer them. If it’s simply a matter of arbitrary opinion based on personal preference then that’s fine. But you came in the politics thread espousing some truly ridiculous arguments based on one asinine article. You seriously expect myself and others (anyone else here agreeing with you btw?) to sit idly by and allow such nonsense to go

  10. I can't wait to share the revelations of this article with all my leftist friends in and around my corner of the world. They'll be delighted to hear that BLM are the new Bolsheviks who, under the guidance of comrade Sanders/new Lenin, have been preparing to take down Czar Trump, and then seize the White House from Biden/new Kerensky, socialize the means of production and spread the revolution all over the world I wonder if the people who believe this shit have read even an introduction to Marx for dummies or the first paragraph of the wikipedia entry for the Frankfurt School. I guess not

  12. I don't see anyone changing their minds after Axl's remarks on Trump here. So the problem is not about which side Axl takes (even though he already stated he's not taking sides or parties), but the fact that you disagree with him, so he shouldn't talk about things you don't like. Seems like people are really not fan of democracy, and I'm not even talking about the chinese one.

  13. Not really. Marx, Marxism, Marxists, Bolsheviks, the USSR, China etc. are not this one, homogeneous and oversimplified "evil" thing, as people like the writer of the article and those who believe this shit view it because they don't really know much about the subject. There is the philosophy and body of works of Marx, which is not homogeneous itself. Then there are the different "Marxisms": the Soviet Marxism-Leninism and the various forms of "Western" Marxism that developed, updated or adjusted aspects of Marx's theories like the analysis of capitalism, social structure/class etc., schoo

  14. The Civil Rights movement was dripping with marxist thought. 'Every' old timer I know from SNCC are trained marxists. Also, Black Libers like the Panthers were a Marxist organization. As was their BLA. And Black Church luminaries like MLK certainly sounded like a read Marxist in the years leading to his assassination. Historically Marxism has been a major force in achieving Civil Rights. As important as the Black Church and Islam. And, really if an economic system bought and sold you as a product, you might look to alternatives too. So if the nonviolent Civil Rights campaigners, lea

  16. Thats not the most advantageous way to hear about politics. But its a great way to hear the lies politicians tell. But since you follow politicians you will note that they have been tweeting at Axl. So, you can see, reality doesn't conform to your desired approach to political discourse.

  18. There seems to be this false notion that once a person establishes him/herself as a public figure known for something particular (artists etc.), they should only stick to this whatever thing they’re good at. It’s all twisted. Like, before you were publicly known, you could preach about whatever cockamamie stuff you liked, whether you actually knew anything about it or not, but once you've become a celebrity etc., you suddenly can’t, you’ve somehow lost the right. People have pigeon-holed you in their own schemes and don’t like seeing that you may not fit there, especially if your opinions diff

  20. - We’re not in ancient times any longer, it's 2020, and we wouldn’t get frozen without it today. - Not a solution but a way to draw attention to this primitive nonsense. - No, I avoid these brands as much as I can (but one cannot avoid everything completely if living in a civilization); however, this is a different story, let’s not use straw-man arguments. It's just plain wrong and completely unnecessary, as are your "arguments", no offence.

  21. Our ancestors didn't travell by plane or car. There is something called change, pregress. We're in different times. Things are different and people also change. You're right about modern slavery. That's our challenge and maybe our children challenge to change things for the better. The world is not preffect, it will never be. But we can always improve things.

  27. Probably nobody in this forum knows who Charlie XCX is. She's a young pop artist that caught my attention on an interview for The Verge about the music industry and technology. Anyways, she wanted remixes of some of her new songs. So I did this. It's really nothing like the original, but I hope some of you like the effort. I also played bass and synth on my Mac keyboard lol. And I know some things are off, but I could only work on all of it during this weekend.

  28. No, I wasn't wondering about that. I was making fun of the article for paralleling the current situation in the US with the Russian Revolution just because of the fact that there are Marxists participating in the BLM movement and for presenting BLM, Sanders and Biden as part of a plot to transform the U.S into the United Soviet Socialist States of America. Then I rhetorically wondered why Americans (mostly, but also people in other countries) fall for such ridiculous theories, which apparently is due to lack of education on the subject (Marxism) - hence the rest of my post was relevant.

  30. I believe S. Korea has tested 1.2 - 1.4 million whereas Florida has tested 2.4 - 2.6 million. South Korea has nearly three times the population so Florida does have a higher per capita test rate. That said, context matters here. S. Korea tested often and early while doing extensive case tracing. It explains why S. Korea has seen single digit case volumes five months into the pandemic while Florida is now breaking nation records. Florida was slow to shut down and quick to reopen. There are reports of people having to wait hours in line to get testing and that it takes five to seven days (

  33. If our ancient ancestors didn’t kill animals and wear fur most would have frozen. Fur as a fashion statement might no be cool, but if find throwing paint on people a solution to that issue then whatever. I seriously doubt anyone here advocates for Chinese sweatshops workers who are slaves to make most US goods. If you have an iPhone, wear Nike etc then you support a slave industry. Slave labor was essentially exported overseas in the name of profit and everyone on this forum is complicit in some way. Yet, who cares.

  34. For me its probably Paradise City. It has it's moments and the intro and bridge are cool, but the outro and choruses for me are just not on par with their great stuff. November Rain needs a mention for me - iconic soloing but not that a great a song - the most inferior of the big UYI ballads for me. TWAT and Madagascar also need calling out - overwrought, earnest and no where near Guns top gear level of greatness...

  35. Lol, what a joke. Your posts are littered with non-sequiturs and yet you accuse others of the same transgression. Regardless of whether Obama is/was a globalist, the same marxist mumbo-jumbo was levelled at him and his administration (one that, in case you aren’t aware of, Biden was apart of). Quoting GNR lyrics in a political discussion. Such devastation. Black Lives Matter is both an organization and a movement. It is not, and cannot, be reduced to one person’s political philosophy. To treat it as a monolithic organization is asinine. The organization and movement (like any

  44. To be overrated it has to be one that is at least popular to qualify right? So Bad apples, so fine etc wouldn't count as they're not rated highly by society and most GnR fans (obv not all) So I'd have to say Knocking on heavens door. Dylans is better. GnR circa 2006 played it better live. The album version and the current live version is so dull.

We had just finished our encore and were all sweaty, drinking beers. I remember Axl looked Trump from head to toe and said, “You know our music?” He smiled and replied, “No, I saw you in Forbes magazine.”
