  1. The official video for Chris Cornell's tribute to Guns N' Roses classic song "Patience". After helping his daughter Toni learn the song, Chris Cornell got inspired in March of 2016 to record the song himself after hearing the news that Guns N' Roses were reuniting. Released in celebration of Chris's 56th birthday. Produced by Toni Cornell and Christopher Cornell Directed by Josh Graham

  4. Fans opinions matter, if he doesn't get asses in seats. And now he knows he has Slash carrying the biggest load of the show. He has Duff carrying another load of the show. It's not all him. With all the clowns back in the band, it's back to all focus on him and him having to carry the show, with a voice that gets worse instead of better. And I do not believe that he would be content going from playing in stadiums back to playing in front of a couple of hundreds in theaters. Axl wasn't filling arenas anymore in Europe in 2012. He had good sized crowds, but far from being close to sold o

  5. Slash leaving would probably mean the end of GNR, because the casuals wouldn't buy tickets if they knew he was gone - and the only option for Axl would be getting back to Up Close and Personal stuff and the likes. Even if he hired someone like Zakk Wylde, they'd never get the numbers again, not to mention that Slash is essential for the sound and spirit of a real GNR record. So unless we're talking about getting back to ChinDem era and releasing CD II / leftovers, there's no way Guns could continue - at least not on this scale - without the top hat man, especially with Axl's worsening form...

  6. If Slash ever leaves again, there will be no more GnR. Axl (TB) unfortunately seems not to care a lot about an ongoing succsess of the band anymore. So why should he suddenly care about it without Slash ? Only to tour with a few puppets ? Never ! If you like it or not, Slash carries a lot of the b(r)and these days.

  13. Anarchy is a load of bollocks as a concept. What is anarchy, in its purest form? The lack of rules right? Well, isn’t that then a rule unto itself, the rule that ‘thou shalt have no rules’, its middle class mind games, to quote a certain North Londoner, some bullshit dreamt up in colleges and universities that has no functional practical application, which is not to say that it is completely without worth, its an idea and all ideas have a worthy position in the field of discourse...but thats about where the buck stops with anarchy, its a fantasy in the same way superman and spiderman are a

Also have a care-plan meeting for one of our very dearest elderly neighbours. First one in-person since lock down. These tend to quickly devolve into a gossiping session if Im honest Im guessing topics will include 'whose not been wearing masks' and 'who

  16. I guess it depends on what you classify as small. In Switzerland there is a smallish venue, called Z-7, which holds about up to 1500 people (even though usually there are way fewer people there) and they also did some social distancing concerts in june and july. Of course, a pub won't be able to do anything. ;-)

  17. If Slash was to go, that would be the end of the band, without a doubt. They struggled hugely before in terms of sales, with many tickets for the later tours being given away free. The only attraction for a lot of people then was that it WAS GNR (i.e. it was that or nothing). Now every casual fan that is even remotely interested has seen them with Slash, there's not a chance in hell they'd pay again. They're not really paying again WITH Slash (they've ticked that box and moved on now), so without him the band wouldn't be a viable commercial concern anymore I don't think. There woul

  19. I'd guess he's happy with what he hears on stage and just uses his IEM to hear himself a bit clearer, whereas Duff's IEM has Axl and Frank almost as loud as himself. (There's about 90 mins of Slash's IEM recording from the Osaka 2017 show, and 20-25 mins from Duff's IEM)

  21. If Like A Stone isn't your cup of tea then to each their own of course, but to say Black Hole Sun was his only hit? If that's not your personal basis for judging the quality of music then I totally get where you're coming from (regarding popular music output), but in Chris Cornell's case I think one can fairly objectively state that his success was not driven by any one band but by his voice and his songwriting. To be able to have top ten hits across three bands (and a solo output), numerous awards, write a Bond song, and so forth just proves that he was the common denominator. He had an amazi

  25. Okay, but I think the original discussion was about whether the protesters in Portland who were arrested (or rather kidnapped) are actually anarchists, and not whether the word is used in that other way by authorities etc. So, in this case, bringing up the dictionary as proof doesn't help.

  26. If ignorant means using the simple definition of the word to prove an overall point, then yes, I guess you could say I was being "intentionally" ignorant. (I'm well aware that calling the founding fathers "anarchists" would be considered ignorant by most scholars and historians, etc)

  27. I think my reservations with this is that I just don't see how it works in the real world. It seems to rely on people not being dicks which as history tells us we generally are. Can you think of any actual examples of this in the real world?

  28. The idea that people will organise themselves into societies without any hierarchies (and that hierarchies wouldn't automatically form as some people would take control and some would allow them to do that), and that such a-hierarchical societies would function effectively even if they were to form, is naive and speaks of a lack of understanding of human nature. As I said, a fool's dream and not worth discussing except for fun when one wants a break from discussing real politics.

  32. I'm posting from home. I just came back from a three hour bike ride in perfect weather, sunny skies, 21 degrees. Couldn't be better really. Where I live there is a nice mix of urban and nature all within a few km from each other. I went into the city first and sat on a bench in front of an 800 year old church looking at all the tourists in awe of this beautiful building, then headed for the woods. I like the hustle and bustle of the city and then going into the woods where there is practically no one and you are able to hear yourself think.

  33. I guess it's all about making the best out of the situation and come up with ideas that work for everybody. Even if it means, making less money than they used to. I saw the Jacksons once playing in front of 1,000 people in an arena that holds 15,000. And I would have bet that that one gets cancelled too, like all the other shows. If there is a will, there is a way. If you can find sponsors to chip in, as mostly there are radio stations involved, also in the aforementioned drive-in shows, it might be worthwhile. It certainly isn't easy though.

  41. What a joke. Personally I don't care whether they post something. It sounds awful anyway. Just another chapter in the Guns N' Team Brazil saga. And you know what's even sadder? If Slash and Duff were asked a straight up question how they feel about Guns' inactivity, the management, and keeping everthing in the dark all the time they wouldn't even have the guts to answer honestly despite all of it being in such stark contrast to how they go about things. Hired hands. And I know maybe this isn't the right place but I'll go out on a limb and say that Slash will leave eventually. Once he

  44. See this is the problem with trying to establish a state I had a mate, lived in a council bedsit and was a bit of a Commie, and he had this idea once that you could colonize the North Pole, apparently it doesn't belong to anyone, he could basically have his own country, call it Jack-istan (his name was Jack) and have dominion over all he surveys...which presumably would be a load of icebergs and penguins and, if Kurt Russell movies are anything to go by, shape-shifting alien viruses that do weird shit to dogs. I'd like to add we were on drugs when this discussion took place

  45. Back In Black features some of the greatest vocal recordings ever put down on an album. Unbelievable chanting from Johnson and the period from about 80-83, vocally, he could have matched anyone. The story behind the albums creation is incredibly fascinating and probably one of the most intriguing ever, with Bon's untimely passing, to Brian working in a garage in Newcastle, given up on ever making a career out of making music full time and happy doing pubs and clubs with the second incarnation of Geordie and out of the blue getting a phone call to come and rehearse with them. 46. I’ve never had a problem with SFTD; in fact, I consider it one of their best covers. I suspect many people have connected it with Slash saying it was "the sound of a band breaking up" – but I think he meant it more like a metaphor. Yes, there was the guitar disagreement, but the song is actually awesome, and I’d love to have another – non-punk – Spaghetti, this time containing songs like SFTD.
