Notice at the end of the Frank talk when the interviewer says "He's a great drummer, not surprised it worked" and Richard does a 'u-huh'... sounded close to his tone of Ron... 37:20 on he talks about CD era band. Loves Robin, Tommy even Bucket... That love doesn't extend to Ron🤣 He continues to shit on him. How could you choose to shit on Ron when to his right DJ ashba was there, playing ou

  2. I think if you listen to something, give it a go, and really don't like it - fair enough. I'll happily hear why you didn't like it and why you don't think it's any good. With CD though it seemed people never even bothered listening to it before deciding they didn't like it. I once got sat on a table at a wedding with come guy, and the conversation got onto music. I told him GNR was my favourite, he started saying how shit CD was, and it soon became apparent he'd never heard one fucking note of it. Not a thing. I'd had a few drinks and just told him he was a prick who had wasted ten minut

  3. I don't know how to multiple quote, so I'll have to tag.. @Swampfox Canada and the US are very interconnected, so whatever happens in the states usually has some kind of direct influence in Canada..and even if America doesn't know, or reports on, what is going on in Canada, believe me, Canada's media shows everything going on in the States. And not everyone in Canada is as liberal in their views as Soon and Downzy either, some of us have just learned to stay away from the mob with pitchforks in the politics thread @Ace Nova I would call myself a conservative in Canada..but that does

  4. Different strokes for different folks my good sir. I listen to Guns N' Roses for great riffs, phenomenal vocals and Pitman. Chinese offers it in buckets and some of the finest vocals that ginger bastard ever recorded. Half arsed promotion from the label and the length of time it took to finally get released hindered the strides it could have made across the world. I'm not saying it flopped or anything, but it should have had a greater impact than what it did and there was definitely a majority of casual fans of GN'R that never gave the record a chance due to the line up changes, some of

  8. I find this attitude inexplicable. As I said, I have a lot of friends and acquaintances with views opposed to my own. I think how it works is we all know when to shut up about politics and just focus on subjects like sport and beer.

  9. A lot, if not most, of my American family either don't talk about politics to each other or talk to each other at all because of politics. I've lost connection to many in my family who are ardent Trump supporters. I just can't be bothered spending time with people I have little to no respect for. It's one thing to disagree with policy, but it gets to the point where spending time listening to someone defend the needless separation of kids from their parents while sitting in detention centres is no one I want to waste my time on, family or not. I had one family member say that fam

  11. I've always found really interesting how people classified some of CD stuff as industrial. Songs like Riad, which had an old school guitar riff and even some Immigrant Song vibe with the vocals. And that drum from the beginning is totally the same as the bridge on Muse's Time is Running Out. Better is based on a chord progression that is not really that different from songs like STP's Plush. The album didn't get a fair chance. Still don't have. Fair enough if you don't want to call it a GNR album, but even people who praise the individual musicians are mostly ignoring CD. I've never saw

  13. Nobody is saying you have to "update" anything. There is much to love about the Switch without resorting to massive generalizations about the current gaming economy. Fortnite and Battlefront aren't the industry standard. I don't think I own a single game where DLC or micro transactions are a requirement. I don't entirely disagree though, because I don't love the ever growing "online only" style of gaming. Like the Playstation and the Xbox, the Switch is not immune to criticism. It's not unreasonable to be disappointed that Nintendo is charging $80 for something that should not be $80 when

  14. It’s pretty obvious that it must’ve been Axl who got bumble into the band, against everyone else’s will. To be fair, though, Axl has been doing that shit since nearly the very beginning. He put Dizzy in the band in 1990, despite nobody else really wanting him, and then he kicked Gilby out in 1994 (against the rest of the band’s wishes) and replaced him with Paul (even more so against the band’s wishes). At this point, Axl being who he is and making these rather bizarre choices is just kinda part of the band’s “dna,” for lack of a better term. Still tho, one can’t help but wonder what

  15. BBF was a perfect replacement for Bucket, can't blame Axl for wanting three guitars, that was his vision at the time. Wonder if that's why BBF felt so mistreated when he joined.

  19. I do apologize as I did get that wrong. You didn't defend the cop; I confused you with someone else. Again, i gave you my reasons. But that's not what you initially stated. You said "I stopped arguing with you about Canadian politics." When you say you stopped, it implies that you started. Again, here's another example of why you're not allowed to discuss politics on this forum. You don't make the slightest effort to have a genuine discussion with those you disagree with.

  20. Stereotypes exist for a reason! Yes, we love all three, BUT Tim Hortons has been corrupted, it now has too many items and is more like a cafe than just a donut shop..its now just too complicated, too many food items, not enough yummy sweets. And for some reason we just aren't that in to football, it's all aboot the fast action hockey for us. Maple syrup festivals and apple picking, how can you go wrong?. Of course, there are places in the states that have this, just not where I am.

  23. Idk...maybe not the biggest thing to worry about, imo. Even Kavanaugh (who was appointed by Trump) voted against the Trump admin, on recent issues, no? If a SCJ does his/her job correctly, politics shouldn't be the main driver of their decisions in most cases...their interpretation of the law and the Constitution should be what they base their decisions off of, no?

  25. No idea mate - did they even do that in 2008...I can’t remember when downloads started counting....or maybe I’m getting confused with streaming.....this all makes me feel old 😂!!? You might be in with a shout if downloads WERE counted:- "Chinese Democracy" is a song by the American rock band Guns N' Roses, and the title track from their sixth studio album. It was released as a radio single on October 22, 2008[1] and was released on the iTunes Store on November 9, 2008. It was primarily written by Axl Rose and Josh Freese.[2] It was the band's first single of original material since "

  26. Very nice! I have the second one you listed. I believe the first one is more rare. I'll try to remember to post photos of my little collection tonight after work. My favorite is the Japanese CD single, it uses the 2006 era artwork, which is my personal favorite, by far.

  27. I agree, there were definitely songs that the 3 guitar thing was too much. In those case Ashba should have been given his baby bottle filled with Monster and thrown off stage. I was never a big fan of them splitting the end solo in SCOM. I liked it in YCBM though, although thinking back Ashba didn't really do it justice!

  28. I don't doubt it would look that way from the outside looking in. It sometimes seems that way for many of us "in the middle" as well. We just need to remind ourselves that politicians aside, most people that consider themselves "right wing" are still good people...and many have just fallen circumstance to the political divineness that has been taken to a new level in 2020. A lot of the same things can be said about people that consider themselves "left wing" as well. It's unheard of (or rare) that friends and family are "breaking up" and getting into relationship ending fights over politi

  29. Yeah, it was Richard that introduced frank. Not saying there's anything here! but he did for whatever reason decide to throw Frank under the bus for his playing not fitting in the early stages of rehearsals, and then kinda sound unconvincing in his belief that Franks a good drummer. Maybe he was in a bad mood after several phone interviews? I know what you're saying about the 3 guitar things, but Richard should be saying "I didn't think Axls idea of 3 guitar players worked, Ron, Bucket and all those guys are great musicians! but for GNR the sound is 2 guitars" Instead he lays all the heat

  31. Most people I know (on forums etc.) bought that record. I remember how I met a guy from another forum at the store before it opened just to be the first in town who buys that record on the day of its release. We were excited as hell and we both knew there wasn't Slash on it. The disappointment was BIG though. To me the point of preoccupation because of Slash regarding CD seemed always as an attempted explanation or as an excuse by people who were dissapointed of the low success of CD. There might were a few guys out there who were biased to the point of not buying that record or

Beats the usual drivel and polite tosh you normally have to spew out, at least until the older generation have called it a night!

  34. I clearly recall the article man. This was a Forbes article in 1994 for the highest grossing entertainers. GNR was number 4. Forbes is a legit as a source can be. It was a 1994 article. Early in 1994. I think it covered 1991-1993 because there was a breakdown of each year. But, it gives you an idea of how much GNR made from 91-93.

  37. Ah ok, that's probably the confusion then. They sort of did/sort of didn't depending on your view of them switching out two songs. Yet again the absolute waste of time and opportunity saddens me. Whenever I read anything from that era it hits me how much could have happened and never did. How many years have gone by and nothing has transpired. I do often think that the GNR legacy, for me at least, will be one of missed opportunity and 'what could have been'.

  41. This is what gets tiptoed around in any band member interviews (not the older interviews, Slash and Duff used to be honest about it back in the day). Axl is who and what mostly makes or breaks the band - whether a particular line up has chemistry, decisions made about line ups, decisions whether to attend rehearsals or not, how he feels about and treats individual members. It's obvious there's some resentment towards Bumble, I can get why but in no way is it really Ron's fault, it's on Axl. Sometimes his 'vision' that he forced on everyone else really paid off. The whole grandeur of UYI e
