  1. I pose a question to the forum: is it time to let go? Disclaimer: I absolutely anticipate this will be merged or swept into another topic because it doesn't contain a new piece of info but this part of the forum is called "Discussion & News" I joined this forum in 2005 at the same time as @Axl_morris because we were obsessed with the mythology of GN'R; who Axl was, where he's been and what comes next with this amazing rock band. 15 years later, I've seen them 8 times (on both sides of the Atlantic), I've arrived at a record store for opening for Chinese Democracy, I've flown my g

  4. Just wondering what you are doing here when there is nothing you like about GnR, seems rather strangee. Anyway I think what you are saying is a load of crap...'doesnt flow'...out of place'...nothing to open the show with and the rest. What planet have you been living on and most bizarley what are you doing here?

  5. The village leaks still feel fresh and new to me! And it seems pretty much inevitable that we will hear further leaks. Ill take CD2 with out Slash replacing BH, please and thank you. The reunion show I saw was the first time me and my best friend were together after moving to different places. So it kinda served as a catalyst for this era of our friendship. We'd been planning to go see Roger Waters. Its kinda how we structure our time together. So I still have the warm and fuzzies about the reunion. I joined the forum to watch the reunions shows here. And then I was like "wait, there

  6. Is there any other band out there that indefinitely tours a "hits tour" without ever releasing new material? I can't think of one. It has literally zero artistic integrity. All other bands release new music and still tour the "hits" for joe punter but throw in the occasional new song to keep the hardcore fan interested, all while maintaining both interest in their indefinite hits tour and their artistic integrity. SMKC may not be life changing genre defining, but it's good old fashioned rnfnr played well. What's not to love. WOF was amazing. More of that please.

  7. If you're a fan of the Village leaks and need more, just start listening to more Buckethead albums. as for GNR, we'll see what they bring to the table when the band emerges again. or calls a hiatus. I'll always be a fan, and knowing they have music in the tank (obviously all Axl's, with the new SMKC album announcement) gives me some hope it'll one day all see the light.

  8. It's fun to post here- I always get some laughs out of the comments and people are pleasant. It gets me through the days really, coming here and discussing my favourite band, and realising I'm not alone out there. I'm sort of accepting of the idea now that we'll never hear anything new. I'm not ok with that- I think it's a shameful waste of talent and opportunity, but I accept that's the way it will be. Nothing but an album actually being releasing will make me think there is any new material- we've had promises and carrot dangling for years and years. For me though it's not about

  10. I read yesterday how Todd Kerns said that a new smkc album is coming out in 2021 which means a tour as well . i’m guessing this means no new guns album until at least 2022 or 2023. do you think they just don’t have the material? What’s the hold up? I know tickets weren’t selling well for the stadium tour that was planned that was canceled due to Covid. From what I read it was not an extension of the ‘not in this lifetime‘ tour but a new tour on its own . Not sure what the tour was supporting ? It’s not a reunion tour anymore. And there was no new album being promoted.

  11. I think that, with the exception of the first three years of the Project/Velvet Revolver, Slash did always want back to GnR. And they were always offered money to reunite. In 2005 he made that mystery drunken visit to Axl's house and apologized for what he had said in the press when he was promoting VR (he didn't say if he wrote it in the note he left for Axl or if he told Beta). There was a lot of smoke about a reunion in early 2006, and most likely there was fire, too. Slash wouldn't do it unconditionally, of course. At first, his main condition - based on his public comments, at l

  13. Slash quit Axl's GnR, so I disagree that he has "always" wanted back in the band. He is all about making money, which he has every right to be. Funny thing is, I don't recall seeing anything about a reunion until after he and his ex-wife had spilt. -He wanted a star lead singer for VR instead of Izzy's hope for he and Duff to share lead vocals.: cost them Izzy. -He wanted a bigger piece of the pie for NITL: reportedly took more from Duff's partnership share; probably didn't back up Izzy's attempt to get his old % back.

  15. CD is the last and final album. New Album will never happen. Axl might come up with some bullshit excuse about why they couldn't release anything. This as well will happen years later when reunion era will be a history.

  16. According to Mark Tremonti, Alter Bridge will be back out touring as soon as COVID is over. As well as Myles’s solo album coming out in 2021 too I’m not sure how he’ll have time for Slash assuming they intend to tour on the back of a new release. http://www.niwyiben.com/interviews/interview-with-mark-tremonti-of-alter-bridge-sept-2020/?fbclid=IwAR3dvbNwIOInDocToIO5irUlsIh1sMQDyKQSmTTrJ0Sj0YlOZvDKBOGs3P8

  17. No, its not. Every year could be said as "crucial", its just moving goal posts. 2010- They have to tour Chinese first, next year is crucial 2011- They have to tour the United States and get through the Hall of Fame, next year is crucial 2012- Okay, Chinese touring is done, next year is crucial 2013/2014- Nothing going on but touring, it is crucial they put something out soon 2016- They have to test the waters and see if they get along again, next year is crucial 2017- Well, NITL is huge so they have to finish this up, next year is crucial 2018/2019- They

  18. since 2011 it's been mostly a shit show, with the odd exception. NITL was a complete anti-climax. Am I going to let go of being a fan of the band? no... but where the rank in importance in 2020 is remarkably different to where it was 10 years ago, I enjoy the records they released up to 2008... but I can barely get through those shit selects, I don't really enjoy listening to the current band... I'm open to having my mind changed so I check out whatever happens but it really isn't looking likely that I'll ever be as into GNR as I was... It's like the 'watching how the sausage is made' thing. 19. Even IF there was a Guns album in the can. Even if this years tour was supposed to promote it. That still doesnt mean it will ever come out! And my impression is that no one person in the camp could say why. I think the ship it set up to allow a wide berth for behaviours and choices that we dont know about and wouldnt understand them if we did. Im looking forward to a new SMKC (despite that being the cringiest name in rock history!). Franks licks on Driving Rain are very promising for the future of the collaborations! Also, Slash might have gotten fired up with the Guns mojo and directed

  22. I literally only care about three things at this point: 1.Soul Monster with vocals 2.Oklahoma/Berlin with vocals (assuming it exists) 3.The General Those are the only specific reasons I'm still holding on. I'd no doubt be excited to hear any other CD II tracks, but in all honesty I don't care if there's ever a "brand new" GNR track, as I don't like Slash's recent work and am not really interested in whatever the corporate jukebox that used to be Axl Rose has to say lyrically, so the fact that they seem to be creatively bankrupt doesn't bother me. If an eventual album was al

  24. I totally get what you’re saying. I think clearly the best are behind them for a number of reasons. Technology has changed, which gives us a front row ticket to almost every live show . That’s watered it down a bit. Then there’s not near as much mystique around this band and specifically “woke” Axl as once was. Plus we’re all older and in different parts of our life. To me nothing beats the excitement of the Hammerstein in 06’ the vibe around the band was so good then. Then 2010 was great because Axl still sounded amazing and brought back a more classic look. We thought they were finally goi

  25. It's a strange concept to me. You like the music, or you don't. Let go of what exactly? Just decide we don't like the band anymore? Does it work like that for anyone? "Oh, you still like Welcome to the Jungle? Pfft, I decided not to like GnR anymore last fall." Maybe while I'm at it I'll decide I don't sex anymore, because reasons. "You still bang? Pfft, I just decided I like my hand better than a cooter. I 'Let pussy go."

  26. My man, enjoy the memories you have. Enjoy the music they gave us. Worrying about new music is like a Toronto Maple Leafs fan worrying about the Stanley Cup - it's nothing to worry about at all (bad joke).

  27. Let go of what? Who is forcing us to be here or to be big fans? I feel like a broken record but until someone shows that GnR no longer owe the label any albums, I'll continue to believe that new music is coming. If they never release another song, they'll still be my favorite band. I will see them again as well when they tour which I doubt will be next year so hopefully 2022.

  32. My biggest gripe with VH II is the production, I've always found it just a little flat. VH I is raw, aggressive, and Eddie's guitar just cuts through the mix like a knife without ever feeling like it actually overpowers the rest of the mix. Production-wise, it's one of my favorite albums of all time. VH II is more polished and less dynamic to my ears. Works good for some of the poppier stuff like Beautiful Girls and DTNA, but it really doesn't do the rockers like DOA or Light Up The Sky Justice, they feel a little neutered by the production IMO. Song-wise it's absolutely on par with the debut,

  35. The Locker Leaks massively restored my love for GNR. Before that I hadn't listened to much of their music after the dust had settled on the London 2017 gig. I cant see me listening to much GNR in 2021 without an official announcement regarding new music. How fucking hard would it be to give us Hardschool?

  36. Thing is - Slash won’t get involved in a slanging match (not his style) so we won’t ever know for sure. My thoughts are it’s either a case of Slash trying to appease Matt during said conversation or it’s just been totally embellished. Slash has always wanted back in to GNR so I think it’s more than a gig to him.

  38. this band really isn't aimed at the hardcore fan. rather, it is a greatest hits band known for november rain and sweet child of mine. those songs gather some views on youtube, yes. as a hard rock band, it even wasn't that remarkable to begin with. most of their songs don't have a nice "flow" to them. I guess "nightrain" is cool. "it's so easy" too. but I wouldn't class GNR as an enjoyable rock band. Other than it's so easy / nightrain, what do they have to open a show? other acts, like AC/DC, motley crue, aerosmith, the stones, judas priest, motorhead, had a WEALTH of great songs to

  41. Yeah, that judge was completely clueless. Good film and good performances too. With Sacha Baron Cohen I was afraid that I was only going to see him as Borat or Brüno throughout the movie, but he delivered a good performance as well. I watched some clips of Abbie Hoffman afterwards and Cohen nailed the accent. Mystic River is a great film too by the way!
