  1. 20 years ago... Rock in Rio 3, the day I met Axl, and I will never forget it. Perhaps one of the best moments in my life, and I would be able to write a novel about it, but some things are better just in our memories, I guess. On the other hand, it's been exactly 20 years, and there is not a single day that I won't think about it. Some people may say I should let go, but it kind of changed my life, in terms of how to believe in myself. So for once, let me try this: Rio de Janeiro, January 13 2001 - Intercontinental Hotel My room wasn't ready when I checked in, and I had to han

  2. People need to stop worrying about Frank’s drumming and worrying about Axl’s singing. No matter how good or bad Frank plays, it means nothing if Axl is singing like crap

  3. This. By 2019 Axl sounded like a vietnamese girl in hypno therapy re-experiencing her severe war trauma's. And while we're at it, Slash's playing in reunion gnr often seems so disinterested that I'd call that a weak link too. Not nearly as bad as Axl "Cat stuck in a meatgrinder" Rose. But still. Fixed.

  4. In the case of Frank - I think most people just parrot everything back to each other. There was someone who started it, and armies of idiots followed to say exactly the same stuff about him. Cheap talk, patter and jive. How many have actually studied his playing or his contributions to CD? I don't like his style personally, but the hate is absolutely ridiculous and over the top. I really hate this mindset that there is some kind of an "objective" reality or opinion in music. It all comes down to taste. You can scream "Adler" or "Sorum" a thousand times, if someone prefers Frank or

  5. And nobody is asking for new Velvet Revolver music, especially without Scott, anyway.

  6. I'm sure I'll catch some heat for this but here we go: I still don't get the Frank hate. I mean for nostalgic purposes I totally get, my self included, why someone would prefer Adler or Matt but stating that Frank is a bad drummer is just ignorant and stupid in my opinion. There's no question that he plays the songs a bit different than previous drummers but so did Matt when he joined. I also get that some people may not like his style but I sometimes wonder how much of that is down to his actual drumming or the fact that he isn't named Steven Adler or Matt Sorum. Do I regard him as

  12. This BS that he was plucked from a bar band is nonsense! He was a session player who played with everyone and anyone, from bar bands right up to touring original acts. The snobbery of 'bar band' as also laughable! as if there aren't incredible musicians playing the bar circuit that could easily play in GNR (Gilby was one of those guys). I'm sure he does pinch himself though, even an already incredibly well known drummer would pinch themselves if they got the gig with GNR. I also agree that he's a good drummer... I just don't always like some of the Frank-isms that he adds to some s

  14. Well this is definitely one of those "no shit" or "you don't say" kind of topics. A) AC/DC literally just released a new album (with their actual singer). Why would Axl suddenly be writing with them in 2020/2021? B) Angus Young writes AC/DC'S music, not Axl Rose. Axl can't even release his own music.

  17. Complaining about the drummer in GNR when you have a singer as shocking as Axl circa 2017-2020 is akin to complaining about Anne Frank's role in Nazi Germany when you have Hitler in the same room.

  19. Frank is fine. It's the singer who needs work. All the same I don't think Slash or Duff were about to come back into the picture and tell Axl to start firing his guys. They clearly discussed some things with Frank (ie. He no longer plays the Brian variant of the Mr. Brownstone intro), but otherwise it seems like they made it work fine and the bonus was Duff had already been back in the fold playing with Richard and Frank. Speaking of Brownstone, I think it's funny how much shit Frank got for "playing it wrong" between 2006 and 2014 when all he was doing it was playing it the way Brai

  21. In a nutshell I think Frank is Axl's boy. I think that his position is ensured by his loyalty to Axl and not his abilities. I feel Axl also wanted to keep Frank as a nod to the previous line-up thus trying to assure that the whole "new GN'R" era wouldn't be completely lost or forgotten. Axl is extremely loyal to people who are loyal to him so as long as Frank doesn't do anything to piss him off he's guaranteed to remain in his position. Even at the expense of quality. Axl has reasons to keep Frank but they don't necessary have anything to do with his drumming ability. That's the way I see

  22. London, Niko and Noah went on Instagram Live to clear the air. Noah announced he has Bipolar Disorder and will be seeing a therapist and he will also be going to AA meetings. But he won't be rejoining the band. I'm happy he's getting help because it's sad to see the youth go out like that.

  23. I don’t like Frank at all, but a lot of criticism directed at him over the past years is completely unfair. People blaming him about tempo and playing “too fast” shows they know nothing about music.

  24. fuck that. That woman carved open another human being and tried to steal her baby, she deserves what she got. People need to take care of their own mental health somehow, but such barbarous acts should be punished with more than just locking them up. they don't deserve the money spend on them.

  27. At this point I'd probably be fine if they simply called it a day now, unless something new is coming. Would leave a bit of a bad taste in the mouth that the end was a wind-down in enthusiasm and quality, but I'd prefer that to another few years if things aren't going to change or get better. Ideal scenario is still within their grasp though in my vjew- new album, new energy, etc etc. It's still all theirs for the taking......if they want it.

  28. That was me I think. Coming at it from a UK point of view. It's not even scheduled over here, date wise, so who knows when it might happen. Could be this year of course......but we have a really really awful government here at the moment (hence why Covid is so bad) so no-one is very optimistic, or particularly believes what they're told by these people as we've had so many lies in the past year. I think you're right about both tours or nothing- but I'd definitely go with neither happening..

  29. Classic lineup reunion was a pleasant surprise, and an even greater one when they sounded pretty great coming out of the gate. Then they were welcomed back with open arms in the rock community with the Dave Grohl throne thing and Axl kicking ass with AC/DC, there was reason to be excited, even feel slightly vindicated for staying invested. But then we had the steady decline in performance, the weird boxset schilling, the only "new" piece of music being a polished i.e. partially re-recorded b-side from 1986, then during a period where no touring is understandable but every other artist has foun

  38. They'll still have fans throwing money at them, unfortunately. There's a new thread every week with people still somehow celebrating bullshit merch. As long as people are throwing money at GN'R for useless shit instead of new music, it doesn't really matter what the useless shit is: tour or merch.

  39. Interesting! That's fascinating to me, as someone who has only visited the forum since around 2013 or so and don't remember that I always assumed it mostly started with the NITL tour. Maybe I'm just not as bothered with it as some others on here seem to be. I do agree that Frank was a downgrade from Brain though but the point I was trying to make in my previous post was that I wouldn't consider him a bad drummer as some people seem to do.

I'll happily stay indoors for a few more months if it means protecting even one person from this shit. i won't be 'blaming China' for it either. I might point a finger or two at the ABYSMAL handling of all this by the government in my country and a certain other country, who have equally dire leadership! Fortunately though, it's not like the world are clamouring for another leg for the latest leg of the never ending NITL tour. Sorry.....

  49. Hey guys, rarely post here but infrequently read posts. I agree with a lot of the frustrations so thought I'd chuck in my twopence worth! I think GNR is a little bit irrelevant these days. The reunion had high hopes, and I even saw them in NYC, flying over from Glasgow, which was awesome. But listening to the recent NITL video clips, they are not very good at all. There's no getting away from the fact that Axl has let himself go something hellish the past few years and Slash just seems keen to solo his way through a show. The lack of new material is astonishing, and 15 years minimum between a
