  1. I've been away from GNR for quite some time but I just listened back to Axl/DC and also Rock the Rock. Just wanted to tell you guys how much I hate this band. Axl sounds amazing on both. The reunion happened 5 years ago and we still have no album, not even a song. Yeah they soundchecked Hard School but I'm not buying the "waiting until Covid is over" argument. Axl will be 60 soon and he could be the highest riding old school singer in terms of public reception, up there with Brian Johnson and Mick Jagger. But he just doesn't do shit. It makes me really mad. Sorry for the rant, it's j

  4. It's definitely real. Axl's vocal are clearly representative of how he sounds now. And I'm yet to see someone doing a convincing 2020 shitty Axl cover.

  5. 20 years ago... Rock in Rio 3, the day I met Axl, and I will never forget it. Perhaps one of the best moments in my life, and I would be able to write a novel about it, but some things are better just in our memories, I guess. On the other hand, it's been exactly 20 years, and there is not a single day that I won't think about it. Some people may say I should let go, but it kind of changed my life, in terms of how to believe in myself. So for once, let me try this: Rio de Janeiro, January 13 2001 - Intercontinental Hotel My room wasn't ready when I checked in, and I had to han

  6. Pretty Tied Up in particular sounded great. Further proof that they should stick to songs that allow him to sing in that range!

  7. Axl seemed to be disappointed in the China exchange interview that a lot of Gn'R fans didn't like his choice of singing a lot of Chinese in his clean voice which is why I think it's possible he might choose to use his classic rasp more or at least record new vocals with less of a clean tone.

  10. I hate the thought of leaks forcing Axl's hand, but it was too much of a coincidence for me not to lean that way. Thank you Rick by take care of us. What a glorious period that was. I will never forget hearing Atlas for the first time and how it instantly changed my life...along with everyone else's.

  12. The purpose of imprisonment is at least fourfold: rehabilitation, deterrence, prevention of new crimes, and revenge. You are correct that rehabilitation has been shown to not work efficiently (studies report only a 10% reduced chance of new crimes), but this is likely to vary from country to country as a consequence of the resources allocated to rehabilitation programs. Simply imprisoning criminals in itself will likely not result in rehabilitation, it must be couples to rehabilitation programs that work on each inmate to help that person change (education, therapy, etc). And yes,

  13. Paying for them to live out the rest of their life in prison is the cost that society has to bear to avoid innocent people being murdered by the state. The alternative is to accept that innocent people will be killed by the state as collateral to satisfy people wanting an eye for an eye, its a numbers game and its inevitable mistakes will (and have) been made pretty often by what i see from other posters here. What gives anyone the right to decide that that its a fair trade off. I don't know about you but I wouldn't be prepared to tell a family of someone wrongly executed "Sorry we f

  14. The "I want to bury Appetite" statement was in 1989. The exact quote: Axl: We found ourselves trying to write the next 'Jungle', write the next 'Paradise City', you know, and it's... we didn't want to but it was happening... Lyrics were coming out with lines about our other songs. That took a few months to get past that, to where we'd put those to rest. It's like, I hope this album's more successful because I just want to bury 'Appetite.' It's like, I like the album but I'm sick of it. I don't wanna live my life through that one album. I have to bury it. So rather than just throwing

  15. That's exactly what he meant. He didn't hate Appetite, he just wanted to out-do it. Most artists, regardless of what type of profession they're in (writer, painter etc.), strive to make their next work better than their last. Anything less is seen (by the artist) as a regression and a signal that the well is drying up.

  21. I guess with Matt it's tricky cause I like his playing style a lot but he comes off as very agenda driven. He recently posted a short positive comment on Slash's and Duff's instagram and was a part of a cover Slash was involved in over Zoom (The Beatles - Come Together) so I don't think it was a dig at Slash and Duff.

  24. I've always argued that 1997 may have been the best year for the WWF ever. It has Bret's best work as a character. Austin's best and most original work as Stone Cold. Michaels was great. It was the birth of the Attitude Era - but still relied on traditional wrestling programming and feuding. I hold it in high regard next to WWF '88-'89 years.

  25. Having listened to the sound check again okay, it's pretty cool and obviously real. But it's still all very weird. I guess it's a repeat of IRS, Better and TWAT leaking causing the band to play them in 2006. Although if they hadn't imagine the outrage, they come back off a 3 year hiatus and play the same set. I'd be happy if a new album was essentially cd2. I think Atlas, HS, General etc will be far more interesting then the and crap Slash and Duff have put out.

  26. Excellent observation, but the guy somehow knew he over his head and bowed out gracefully. It must have been cool for Axl to play with his closest friend from childhood during those concert dates. It’s odd Axl never talked about him much after 2001 considering Axl said there wouldn’t even be a band without him.

  28. I think Vince's ideology on professional wrestlers at that time was that they were past it when they hit 40, and with Shawn being 8 or so years younger than Bret, probably wanted to invest his time and money into younger talent. It's mad when you consider that AJ Styles will be 44 this year and Jericho continues to defy the odds at 50 - all of that along with the fact Bret Hart's 1997 was one of the greatest years for any wrestler ever, he was top man. The WM13 bout with Austin showcase the two of them at their best, it's almost a blessing that the alleged rematch with Michaels didn't hap

  29. Exactly... Getting older an will sound shittier.. Look at sammy hagar and his voice is great still at his age.. Best thing now is the chairman or somebody gets any more leaks out there from 20yrs ago with lyrics when axls voice wasnt spent... Id be happy with that. No new album is coming... And anyone seeing them live listening to that shite vocally served up an slash playing not giving 2 f*cks anymore.. Good luck to ya...

  32. I fucking loved the Invasion angle back then, especially the Survivor Series from that year. Funny how with age, you truly see it could have been so much better had they had access to the top tier talent. I not long ago finished Bret's book and I have for some time wondered what would have happened had Bill Goldberg not given him that concussion, especially with the take over not being that long after. His return could have been huge ratings in itself, especially if he was still active in ring.

  35. They still have the right to believe and say what they like. But they can't expect to be allowed to say whatever they like everywhere. Freedom to speech has never been total in that sense. And as a private company, Twitter is free to kick out anyone they want. Don't confuse this with their freedom to speech being violated.

  36. It's also a LOT cheaper than putting them to death interestingly. Check out the cost of executing a prisoner in the US vs keeping them in jail for life. With all the appeals and legal avenues that have to be exhausted in most cases before you can execute somebody it's pricier than life in prison. Here's Ian Hislop making (it's a good thing she's) Priti (cos she's not very bright) Patel look like the dumbass she is.

  40. That is highly debatable... Slash plays better with just about any (if not all) other drummers than Frank.. Looks at his playing with his solo band and even the jam on New Years compared to his NITL playing.. They made it work by selling out for money over quality.. Truth but Axl is a lost cause.. They could at least try to make the band sound better to make up for how awful Axl is..

  41. Complaining about the drummer in GNR when you have a singer as shocking as Axl circa 2017-2020 is akin to complaining about Anne Frank's role in Nazi Germany when you have Hitler in the same room.

  42. The bass-drummer relationship is the most sensitive one, according to both bassists and drummers I played with. It would have been unlikely that it actually would have worked out smoothly from the very start.

  44. In a nutshell I think Frank is Axl's boy. I think that his position is ensured by his loyalty to Axl and not his abilities. I feel Axl also wanted to keep Frank as a nod to the previous line-up thus trying to assure that the whole "new GN'R" era wouldn't be completely lost or forgotten. Axl is extremely loyal to people who are loyal to him so as long as Frank doesn't do anything to piss him off he's guaranteed to remain in his position. Even at the expense of quality. Axl has reasons to keep Frank but they don't necessary have anything to do with his drumming ability. That's the way I see
