  1. Yeah, there is no place for the death penalty in a civilised society. One of the major reasons for having a justice system is to blunt the edges of the more visceral human instinctive responses to perceived wrongdoing (i.e. to pursue revenge and retribution) and ensure that the danger to society is contained or removed whilst also being fair, proportionate and retaining the moral high ground. Capital punishment basically says that in order to deal with the worst criminals, society should stoop to their level and perpetrate a vicious act on them. I get why that's appealing - I think any vi

  2. A bit off topic and random, but all this cryptic supposed "insider" stuff reminded me of those "credible insider sources" about the EP recorded by the current band and the T-Rex cover included in it. I wonder where that "reliable information" came from.

  3. This feels like the forum over at gunsnfnroses.com. The only thing missing in this thread is something like "the 1999 version of HS sucks because Axl was already so fat"...

  4. I don't know why this type of attention seeking doesn't get old for some people. The post in question reads like "I have some unleaked GN'R songs, but I'm cooler than you guys because I don't even care". Good for you, I guess? Most of GN'Rs fans have moved well past hoping for GN'R to release something officially, let alone give a bunch of attention to yet another faux insider who claims to have unreleased material. Like I said, I really thought the community would have tired of this type of behavior but for whatever reason, there's always someone else out there looking for a

  5. Duffs wife appears to have her own career and cash flow. Just because these guys are enjoying the higher revenue stream doesn’t mean it’s just a cash grab. I imagine Slash and Duff both enjoy being in GNR fully sober. And imagine that fact alone makes their relationship with Axl improved.

  8. I am disappointed with Duff and Slash too.. They definitely chose took money over integrity and most importantly the quality of the music.

  9. There is mention of the song for the Jackie Chan movie in Matt's book, too. Matt refers to it as a song "Axl had" (with no vocals yet), which Rick Rubin (who was very briefly involved) liked. This - combined with what Duff said in 1996 and with Axl's reference to "Checkmate" as "Jackie Chan" (working title) - gives even more credence to the theory that the core of Hardschool (the verse-chorus part) dates from 1996, and also to my assumption that Axl probably wrote it with Paul Tobias, then it was worked on by Duff and Matt, and then reworked-restructured by the CD era lineup.

  11. On this day, let us remember what Dr. King stood for and treat each other as fellow humans, regardless of skin color, background or political ideologies. "Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

  12. maybe a lot of fans are starved for new material and really want to believe and the 2019 leaks happened so maybe it's understandable why it's easier to believe it could happen again.

  16. It just goes to show that this was never intended to be a full "reunion". Fortus would never have been asked to step aside for Izzy or Frank for Steven. Adler can play Illusion and CD shit just as well. I'm upset Axl went this direction instead of just closing the "Chinese" era down...

  19. Pretty much exactly how I feel. Chin Dem the song is a mean rocker in the Village sessions and waaay more raw. As is Rhiad. Prostitute on the final version is much better than the Village version. I’d say 3/4 of the final release was properly better in in 2000/2001 which is crazy really. Although don’t get me wrong - I’m a big fan of 2008 CD.

  20. Just saw people on Twitter saying they hope Trump incites violence at some point after 12pm tomorrow because then he won't have the presidency to protect him from consequences. Jesus Christ. There are so many stupid people on both sides of this. Hoping for violence in your quest to own Trump is not a great option.

  21. There's some songs where I prefer the demos, and some where I prefer the album version; some are hard to judge like Shackler's either having a very primitive demo or no demo at all. I'd love to hear what earlier versions of Scraped and This I Love sounded like. Chinese (the title track) is so much better in its early demo form, all it was missing is the Bucket solo extension to hit perfection.

  22. I liked his guitar on the title cut, and his playing towards the end of Catcher, and the Shackler's Revenge solo. His Riad solo bugged me the most.

  23. Of course - Better, IRS, & TWAT only got played in '06 after the leaks. Without that we probably wouldn't have even heard it soundchecked.

  24. The bass is definitely much lower on the final album, compared to the demos, but that doesn’t bother me, and I liked bumble’s additions (tho I’m one of the only few who did).

  25. Full disclosure: I haven't heard anything from anyone on it in a while, so I have no idea at this point. I'd be happy to step up if anyone involved with it asks me though, that's for sure.

  27. Good question; Austin wins lol. I'll have to think about it; maybe have the NWO involved but have them play both sides until they're forced to pick a side, it blows up in their faces or WWE/WCW/ECW join together to stop the NWO. Triple H versus Ric Flair perhaps and the fallout from that eventually leads to Evolution. I can't remember why Flair joined with HHH in 2002 or 2003. For some reason I've got Austin versus DDP in my head. Stunner versus Diamond cutter. Bret versus Angle; ridiculous match. Bret's with WCW for reasons. Angle wins, Bret passes the torch. WCW turns on Bret, Br

  28. Ah ok. That sort of thing is definitely easier for tennis players than it would be for a touring band with all their crew...and if they do have to do it there's no way they could leave the country then come back and do that one Perth show. The guy is at best incompetent, but more likely willfully negligent. Racist, sexist, homophobe liar who shouldn't be leading a dog, let alone a country. As an island, we let people come here throughout lockdowns, on holiday, without even testing! We're in our third national lockdown here, the death rate rises every day, hospitals are full, the economy

  29. It still would have been too late in 2000 for those songs imo. OMG didn’t get great traction in 1999. From what we heard from the leaks and those versions that are more stripped back? The Blues, Chinese Democracy, and There Was A Time would have fared well. Those versions should have been released

  30. That's a hard one and not something I've thought about - I think coming back into WWE television, it'd have been best for him to make the most noise and show that he was disgusted at being back working for Vince and aligning with WCW, at least temporarily, if he was still babyface with the fans, he could have turned on WCW much like Angle did - having something between Bret and Vince would have been easily done, though a program with Triple H would also have done well for PPV, seen as Shawn wasn't around then. Then the talent around that time that he could have worked with, Angle, Jericho etc

  33. You might do a series on GNR fights back. I would love to see a clip of Tommy telling people to get a life and then accidentally hitting the cameraman in the head with his bass. Believe that was one of the Download festivals where people were throwing bottles at the stage. There's always the Trump piñata. You include the Axl rants and that might keep us entertained through the covid pandemic.

  34. I used to really love coloured vinyl, but recently I had a movie soundtrack from Waxworks records which was just terrible, pops and skips all over the place, but due to the swirl effect you can't spot the issues on the surface. One of the benefits of black is it is much easier to check the quality. For this reason I literally just ordered (last week) Bucketheadland 2 on vinyl. There was the choice of black, or blue and pink (it's a double vinyl) for $10 more. Both limited to 500 copies globally. I went with the black. Now you're making me regret it!

  35. Great series @Gambit83, just finished Vancouver today. I actually remember those posts on the GNRBar back in the day. We were all excited about reviews for the show and it was deflating reading that it didn't happen. I remember thinking at first the posts were jokes. It slowly became clear they weren't. I haven't been on that forum in probably 15 years, frankly I didn't know it still existed! I always think of Vancouver as the lesser known riot. Sounds like the "Axl was in the air" rumor is true. Would love to know ultimately why the venue apparently decided to cancel the show.

  41. At the time I found it exciting when Axl mentioned Oasis onstage. I had visions of Axl interacting with all the bands that had emerged since he went into seclusion. It never really happened. I always liked the version of Madagascar from this show. It seemed a bit more low-key than subsequent performances but that might have been a bad mixing job. Most of the show is pretty bad.

  43. It was probably intended to be included on the soundtrack to a Jackie Chan movie, hence they would refer to it as the "Jackie Chan song". It wouldn't make sense to keep that working title now, which is why it is now called "Hardschool". My 5 cents.
