  1. I was listening to Oh My God again and I couldn't help but think about the direction of the band Axl had in mind. I love all eras of GNR and I do really like oh my God. When I stop and think about the content we could have gotten from Axl in the late 90s still in his prime boggles my mind. I know the turn to more industrial rock sound isn't everyone's cup of tea but I am I fan of almost every genre of music. Not just hard rock. So the song is such an interesting look into where Axl was musically at the time. The dude never stopped evolving. Estranged sounds nothing like anything from appetite

  7. In the fans mind gnr were a straight forward rock band. From the moment UYI came out it should have been clear that they definitely weren't going to be making songs that sounded like Aerosmith etc forever. The only reason I say he should have went solo is because of the type of fans that refuse to allow bands to change directions. You dilute your brand and band by saying "oh our fans like this, so we can't do that". Aren't there enough bands playing the game? I much rather listening to a band that's adventurous (on record) and not serving up the same meal each time. I fully def

  9. People that think rockstars are automatically rich and set for life don't realize the vast majority of rockstars go broke, and when you are making money in the late 80's/early 90's expenses rise to income. After that, when you aren't touring, and spending money recording for decades, the well gets drained. Axl might mentally not want to do things for money, but at some point, bills need to be paid and banks and vendors don't give extensions on due dates to save a persons feelings on musical integrity. Axl bought his Malibu house around 1990, it is public record on mortgages taken out agains

  10. I am not sure I buy that Slash was broke after the divorce, he was the one who filed it so I am sure he knew what he was getting into and also did some pre-planning. They bought their Sherman Oaks house in 2009 for 7.3 million and sold it in November 2017 for 8.7m, that's a 1.4m profit which after the 100k real estate taxes per year, holding costs on the house and the 4.4m mortgage they took out, they probably broke even and ended up with 3 million in cold hard cash after that sale. The divorce was filed around Christmas 2014 and wasn't finalized until late 2018/2019 I believe. Perla got a

  11. This is a disgrace and hopefully leads to the end of Cuomo's political ambitions. Democrats wonder why Republicans who have nothing to offer constituents need to only look at the shit jobs both Cuomo and Newsom have done in their respective states. It shouldn't be this hard. Just competently execute a scientifically backed strategy and be transparent. Adjust to the situation and provide clear and consistent communications when changes are needed. And avoid political considerations, even in the face of terrible news. Apparently Cuomo's administration found much of this too dif

  12. I thought the same- they'd have to change the dates of that was the case, and it could mean the shows don't happen, as quarantining the entire working crew for two weeks for such a small run of shows might not be an option. Time will tell I guess whether Australia changes it's quarantine rules. It may well set up travel corridors.....but the US will be one of the very last countries on that list, given how Covid has been allowed to run wild there.

  13. Yeah, no shows this year (in this scale) for anywhere other than potentially ANZ. Fascinated to understand what the quarantining measures will be like for ANZ come October/November, no way GN'R will fly over and quarantine for 2 weeks in a hotel before playing the shows, especially as they are going Australia->NZ->Australia.

  14. I wholeheartedly believe that they made valiant attempts to engage Axl on these matters only to be met with the type of pushback that can be soul crushing. I can only imagine “that look” Axl gave them when they were most vocal about recording, laying down tracks or what have you. Coming to the realization that Axl is willing to throw everything away again if things don’t go the way he is intending them to. On his own terms. GNR is undoubtably ruled as a dictatorship.

  15. This list has always struck me as completely real and completely odd. Some of these songs are references to what I would assume are remixes (TIL2, Better2, Pro2) some unheard songs (a few of which we have now heard) and Catcher which I’ve read in places over the years was not always slated for CD1. This list seems to potentially confirm that. Then as mentioned above a bunch of songs that are rumored to exist are not listed. Which may confirm it actually was supposed to be a trilogy of records with bonus tracks (Remixes)

  16. I've wondered the same thing. As with Zodiac, Ides Of March, Quick Song, Oklahoma/Berlin, and Seven. Perhaps some of the above were re-named, or were stated for CD3.

  24. He was trend chasing and sadly that is a very bad look for a guy who was once the world's biggest rock star. That was the beginning of a long, dark period for the band.

  25. Yeah, totally agree with everything you said here. I think that overall change is nothing to scoff at, but with Axl the change seemed forced. Like, he lost the members of the band that helped define the sound of the band and he needed to do something different to compensate - which IMO is pretty much what happened lol I personally don't care about if Chinese was "real Guns" or not, but I do personally think that Axl could have benefited from doing it under a new band name or solo act, getting all his new styles out there through that, and getting with Slash, Izzy, etc. for the Guns stuf

  26. I'm completely agree with that sentiment. Although I don't think they would dilute their brand. They would have had fans from every single Era. Just like how I would go get a beer during scom someone else would go piss while oh my God played. I just really hate how much material is sitting in some vault somewhere lol

  27. Why not? Or at the very least, discuss it. Sorry, but this whole thing is as nuts as Qanon. It’s reading into things that are not there. The same could be done with your posts on this forum if someone were so inclined. Absent hard proof other than arbitrary and capricious readings of certain words to fit your prescribed narrative, few are going to accept your interpretation.

  29. I don't know if I'd call it some of his best work but being a big Michael Jackson fan myself I thought it was pretty cool. Jackson's Dangerous was very guitar driven and I sure as hell don't understand why working with the king of pop would be a disservice. Come to think of it Axl's rise to the top and subsequent fall from grace has a lot of similarities with Jackson's albeit on a much much smaller scale. Jackson's popularity was just insane, unparalleled with the exception of The Beatles.

  30. It's obviously ludicrous to say the likes of Buckethead, Bumblefoot and Richard Fortus aren't good guitar players, and does make you seem a bit ridiculous to claim that as well as, sadly, really rather ignorant. A bit sad to say musicians aren't good players if they aren't household names really. So much of my music collection is made up of insanely talented people who barely go noticed. Your loss though. I hear Justin Bieber is rather popular.

  37. Ive said for some time that DJ was good for Guns when he joined. It wasnt until (I believe) that DJ saw the writing on the wall that he was not going to use Guns as a creative outlet, that he began getting sloppier, and stopped caring.

  38. Give Slash literally a million years and he couldn't come up with something like Electric Tears or Whitewash.

  39. Despite the criticism het gets, I think DJ really did try hard for that first year or two of touring. He put a lot of effort into putting on a performance (fine, people may not like the 'Hulk Hogan Hands' things, but you can't deny he tried). He did a fair version of the songs and, as you say, seemed to gel with Axl. He often talked about wanting to create new music, talked about having written demos etc... I think the situation with DJ was, much like Bumblefoot, he became jaded after 2011 or so and became fed up with endless touring/realising that new no music was being produced.
