  1. Axl would never do that. His ego wouldn't allow it. And comparing him to Bowie is a joke. Bowie was still making (amazing) music when he was dying of cancer. Axl's pissed the majority of his time away doing fuck all. One is a true artist, the other is a washed up singer and total fraud.

  2. Just from memory, it was out there that Slash had been recording stuff at Axl's home-studio. Shortly after that Sue mentioned that they guys were in the process of "fastidiously" recording for the next record. I don't think she was making that up. Now again, none of this means an album is coming soon. Cuz, you know, Axl. But I guess it's better than them not having recorded anything to date.

  3. A big part of being a rockstar is putting the music before your own personal welfare. Do we think that Bowie had peace of mind in the 1970s when he was snorting Scarface levels of cocaine every day? It just so happened to be the period where he was making his best music of his career. Coincidence? I think not. I'm not saying Axl needs to develop a $1000 a day drug habit. Just that he needs to be the rockstar he likes to think he is once in a while and drop an album every 5 years or so!

  4. FUCK THEM! I‘m going back to watching amateur football in Germany. Reasonable ticket prices, real fans, players who still give all they got for their clubs, no horrendous transfer fees and most importantly, only 2€ for a pint! I really hope that this league flops and the clubs participating will be punished by UEFA/FIFA/national FA‘s.

  7. Part of my boredom during Corona has led me to pull out my tickets stubs and go through them. I was surprised at how many times I’d seen some bands multiple times..Over 25 years of concerts I’ve seen: Neil Young x 16 The Stones x 15 Therapy? x 22 The Pogues or Shane MacGowan solo x 17 Black Sabbath x 13 Iron Maiden x 7 Motörhead x 8 Sex Pistols x 5 Jesus Lizard x 5 DKT/MC5 or MC50 x 7 Mudhoney x 8 Stiff Little Fingers x 8 AC/DC x 8 Guns N Roses x 6 REM x 7 Primal Scream x 7 Oasis x 5 The Who x 5 Me

  8. where btw is the proof that Axl has any kind of serious mental health issues these days ? that's only some peoples guessings when there's nothing else to talk about, or no other excuse for the lack of new music.

  9. I am assuming you all have perfect mental health and none of your family or friends suffer with mental health issues because if this was the case there would be more empathy here. Maybe I am taking all too seriously

  11. I think it's amazing how the same people who said the worsts things about Finck, Bucket, Bumble, Ashba and Fortus for not playing note for note Slash solos in the past are the ones trying to justify why Slash is not doing it with Chinese songs and sometimes his own solos... And the reason they try to justify it is the classic vibe/feel excuse... When 50% the vibe/feel thing is an out of tune bend with a closed eye and a pain expression that says "wow I almost fucked up big time"
    2 points
  12. On behalf of myself and Persia, we are offended! When was it you were first aware of Chinese? 2015? I give it another 5 years til you've had time to digest the 10th anniversary re-release of Appetite for Democracy with Slash overdubs on DJ, both visually and musically, which will eventually lead to you finding newfound love for Brian Carroll

  13. Yep, they are loosing money these years - with Leicesters, Atalantas "stealing" their spot. Now they want to get rid of them... And Spaniards - they are broke, so this is the last chance for them keeping the "top of the world" position... As LFC, let them walk alone, fuck them...

  14. I struggle with anxiety/depression and I have to go with Axl's peace of mind here. Those kind of problems don't vibe well with the music industry, especially when you're someone like Axl. I understand that as fans, we want that material. To justify my answer though, I relate to the stress that comes with writing/releasing music and I'm on an underground level. That shit is terrifying at times because as a songwriter, you know all of the intricacies of your music and you can fall into the trap of being a perfectionist. I can't imagine how much worse it is on Axl's level.

  15. Hasn't he had enough peace of mind since at least 2016?

  16. With Axl now a full time cartoon celebrity guest, part time touring musician and retired recording artist, what cartoon should he appear in next? Lots of rockstars have been in the Simpsons - Aerosmith, U2, Chilis, Smashing Pumpkins, Kid rock etc, the list goes on. Would he be mocked in South Park or family guy? Should he stick to Kids tv like Rugrats and pokemon? Apologies for this subject, but there is nothing else going on in GnR world!

  17. There might be some I'm forgetting, and there's some local bands I've seen multiple times too, but this is my list: GNR - 12 times (7x 2010-14, 5x from 2016-now) Motley Crue - 5 times Alice In Chains - 4 times Godsmack - 4 times Alice Cooper - 3 times Sebastian Bach - 3 times (should've been 4, fuckin covid...) Yelawolf - 3 times Monster Truck - 3 times In Flames - 3 times Aerosmith - twice Foxy Shazam - twice Buckethead - twice Zakk Wylde - twice (one acoustic show, once with BLS) edit: some I forgot earlier, Sh

  25. Agreed. Even when bowie knew he was dying he organised his back catalogue for future releases after he had passed. He continued to record blackstar until the end. Thats dedication to your fans. From what I read freddie mercury did the same thing and recorded as much vocals as he could before his time was up. I dont know why Axl wouldnt let someone write for him if he cant other than selfish greed regarding royalities. Even then some artists will change a few words here and there so they can still get royalties on a song. Most their hit songs were written by Izzy anyway

  26. 100 percent right but you know even a old sober david bowie still continued to release music and reinvent himself. Something for whatever reason Axl cant do. Even if Axl cant write a song anymore then bring in a team to do it. Just go in and lay down some vocals. Plenty of rockers do it this way. Its not that hard. Oh but that will get in the way of eating candy and playing with his cats. Axls busy schedule over the last 30 years.

  27. Mourinho fired, allegedly because of a row over "super league". Smart of Mourinho to leave because of that, now he can get out before he runs the club down into the mud and even get out with his head held high. I hope other managers take a stand against this atrocity. Come on Ole Gunnar!

  28. I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I never thought you know nothing because I don't even know you, that would be a rather ignorant thought on my part. I wasn't interfering with your little argument on here either. I was merely reacting to you assumption that other people can't like something just because you and all your top musician friends don't like it or don't consider it the right way of playing guitar. Maybe you didn't mean to phrase it that way, but that's exactly how you did it. Unfortunately this happens too often, especially online. I have no interest in debating someone's

  31. Well... it's ideas / concepts on guitar that I've heard from some of the best in demand musicians I've seen. You obviously think I know know nothing but some of these musicians are top of the food chain in session work worldwide (Tim pierce is a famous example of someone who shares this view). I can safely say the majority know what people like to hear considering it's their entire job. I'm not saying you aren't a great musician too, before It's suggested I'm saying it... But you're also saying what ALL those people believe "makes no sense whatsoever" so I do have some concerns for the listene

  33. I think we need to look at this way... Say you are the Axl Rose character. You had a very troubled upbringing born to very young parents and was raised by a very abusive stepfather. Music remains the calming element of a very tumultuous beginning chapter of your life. With no real foundation to speak of, you find yourself in and out of prison or detention or whatever BUT you love Rock N' Roll music. and you just may be brilliant at it! It is your passion and you KNOW you are brilliant at it...you just need the Chance to prove it! Your family and everyone in your

  34. Well, this is a forum, people react to what they read. If you don't like that, maybe stop posting? Or if you don't want other people to react to your posts, only communicate in PM from now on with the poster who is only allowed to react to your posts? Just a thought... Anywho, these were your exact words, And no offence, but that makes no sense whatsoever. Maybe don't act like you know what other people like or don't like, or else you can expect people to react to your BS? Just a tip...

  35. With his own band, Slash makes definitive statements. "We have 20 songs." With GNR, it's vague "working on" or "we've got a bunch of stuff going on." It's never something like: "We've written 30 original songs and we're trying to narrow it down to the final 12 that will be on the next record." I mean, just comparing the way he talks about the Conspirators vs GNR, you can tell there's jack shit going on in GNR world.

  36. Well at least we agree on that. Have a nice day.

  37. I think his muse is gone as well. But, I believed it was also a factor of the industry beating him down. And I don’t think it’s the perfectionist aspect of him that prevents releasing new music. It just feels like he doesn’t have it in him to create music to the standard of the GNR name.

  39. If you're going to expect respect back for things you enjoy, then you're going to have to give the same. Outside of that saddle up, that's my overall point. If you had said "I respect the other players, but Slash's version are more my style" that's totally cool no issue whatsoever because that's reasonable. However you insist on saying (ad nauseam) that every other guitar player outside of Slash/gilby/Izzy are shit, can't play the gnr catalogue, have no feel/vibe/emotion/creativity. You can see how that might rile someone who enjoys it up, I'd imagine? Also, I never said anything ab

  41. Another section added: 25. AUGUST 2004-MAY 2006: FINALIZING CHINESE DEMOCRACY; LAWSUITS; RETURN TO NYC (a-4-d.com) This deals with the period from August 2004 until May 2006. People got to hear more of the elusive Chinese Democracy through various leaks, band members indicated that only some vocals and mixing remained. Axl returned to the spotlight in 2006. A replacement for Buckethead was finally found in Bumblefoot. Velvet Revolver toured and started to splinter. Slash paid a nightime visit to Axl's house. But denied it happened. Media speculated that VR was about to break up and Slash

  42. The last part of your post shows that you don't read my posts carefully, or you just don't understand them. And than you say you aren't arguing about tastes but you do exactly that. Maybe there are some rules in music theories, I don't know and I couldn't care less. I don't listen to music and think "oh boy, he did something there, but the music fundamentals don't allow that, I don't have to like it, otherwise a strange guy on an internet forum will not agree with me blah blah blah". Either I like it or not. I don't play guitar myself, neither any other instrument. All I do is liste

  43. I don't think Slash plays any of the CD material better than Bucket or Robin, but both Robin and Bucket frequently played Slash's parts in a way I liked more. I think it comes down to Bucket/Robin were more respectful of the material and legacy of Guns and Slash than Slash is of CD stuff. But I would also suggest that Slash doesn't seem very interested or respected in his own material for much of NITL, either.

  44. You just did the same regarding the CD solos: “As for Slash's unmemorable solos on CD stuff... well it's unmemorable stuff from the start. ” You obviously have a pair of malfunctioning ears, because Slash doesn’t sound good these days and it’s has been like that for a LONG time. He still shines on songs like Estranged, NR, Don’t Cry, etc, but he’s clueless on the “fast” songs and plain down pathetic when he has to improvise. The CD solos are unprofessional, to the point were no musician in the CD era reached that point of “dontgiveashitness” with Slash’s solos. It’s just plain disrespectf
