  3. Ashba not being able to pull off This I Love 1st bending note always baffled me. It's literally his job, you know? My sources told me this is what happened between Axl and Ashba: Axl: hey man, listen. We got Slash back. You know, that's big. DJ: wOw rAaLly? AwEsoMe. Axl: And he's the lead guitarist. DJ: oH, I kNOw I knoW. Axl: He's also playing most of Chinese Democracy solos. DJ: ... Axl: And you know how it is, the Bucket stuff is really too complex, so we're giving it to Richard. DJ: I kNoW, rIGht? ThAt gUy is cAzY 🔥 Axl: Yeah. But Slash is part of the band, along with Duff. He's not an employee. DJ: gReAt. Axl: You can be there too, I guess. Maybe you could have a couple of minutes for the KOHD solo. DJ: ReALLy?? Axl: But you would have to improvise. And you couldn't wear the hat nor any Ashba® swag N' we're deleting everything you recorded for us that we didn't had already deleted. DJ: YoU knOw what? SlAsH iS beTter thAn the olD oNe. I'll seE if NiKki StiLl wANts me. ThaNKs Rose, yoU're grEat.

  4. Many people still ridiculing Ashba for allegedly fucking up the SCOM intro, wow. Now listen up, you philistines. There were no mistakes in this performance, it was PERFECT. Ashba was waaaay ahead of his time and created a sophisticated microtonal intro to this legendary song that no one can replicate to this day. He was genius back then and still is today as you can easily hear in his recent masterpiece "Let's Dance". In his whole career, there was never even one single bend that sounded off, ever. Whoever says something else, hates humans and animals as well.

  6. The truth is: He still sounds like shit overall, we just lowered our standards because we want to like it.

  7. Don Everly was a hell of a lot more than "Axl's former father in law"

  8. Maybe Axl should have dedicated "Welcome To The Jungle" to the Antifa thugs that have turned Portland into a wasteland.

  9. As long as when he visits Republican states he can dedicate "You're Crazy" to the idiots who voted for Trump or Republicans in general the last 40+ years

  11. DJ's playing is average at best, and his antics make everything worse. A trend chasing, gimmick driven guy. He had to simplify even the simplest of solos, and any solos he couldn't get away with doing that on he'd trade off to Bumblefoot. That was truly for the best. Totally useless guitarist when guys like Bumble and Richard Fortus are in the band.

  12. Oh snap. I bet they were completely unaware of your displeasure with this whole thing. I would assume they'll take the single down off of streaming services now 😂

  13. Fortus makes sense, he’s a session player at heart that isn’t going to cause drama. He can play anything and is trusted by Axl. Plus, it seems Slash actually really likes the guy as a band mate and player. Frank was already there and an Axl guy Pitman was fired Dizzy is a piece of old furniture DJ doesn’t fit in the picture

  14. Having DJ in the band with Slash and Duff is both hilarious and horrifying. I forced myself to like the guy in the band and I was a teenager at the beginning so I thought some of his BS was cool at the time. I have a lot of good memories with the 09-14 lineup, and he was a part of that Dude is atrocious, though. He is a tacky, show boating, hack that puts out horrendous music now. I really enjoyed his 2 latest songs because they make me laugh. Some of the worst music I have heard in a long time, with videos to match It might be a blessing in disguise ChiDem2 didn’t come out, as there’s no way he is good enough to be on studio released GNR music

  15. I think Ashba realised that he wasn't going to be on the album (the one that Axl planned before the reunion) as a writer - maybe Axl had just let him lay off layers on some songs, but wouldn't use anything written by Ashba - so then he quit and made a big deal out of it for publicity. I've read some quotes and wondered if he really believed stuff like this: DJ Ashba: [Being asked if more material will be released] Absolutely, yeah absolutely, that's our main focus with it right now. Obviously with me being a song writer and producer [October 2011]

  19. I really have trouble believing that. Sounds Absurd.

  20. Axl, if he seriously offered, was just being nice. Axl, dj, Slash and the whole world knows that DJ could not be on the stage with Slash. Hell Bumblefoot embarrassed him nightly. And then there is the whole top hat thing. Richard is the only guitarist of the last iteration of NuGuns that would be acceptable.

  21. "Axl called me and he really wanted me a part of the reunion, and I turned it down," Ashba said. "I felt if Slash is coming back, that's great — that's what the fans want, and I can go off and do what I really wanna do now… And we left [off on good terms]; everything is good. And I couldn't be happier for the fans out there. I'm a fan. Half of the band reunited, which excites me, but at the same time, it's the best of both worlds — I get to do what I really love to do, and that's play in SIXX:A.M." https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/dj-ashba-on-his-exit-from-guns-n-roses-that-was-a-chapter-in-my-life-and-im-starting-a-new-chapter/ I still don't know what to think about that quote. Part of me is just laughing at it as a Bad joke but Axl has done crazier things in his life.

  22. I think it's simple. Axl made a decision to reunite with Slash and Duff, which he had every right to make, since it was his band. As far as the NuGnR members that were still there, including Pitman, Axl did his part and kept them in the band. He didn't throw anyone out, but he also wouldn't let anyone fuck it up for him. Pitman's part was to respect Axl's decision and behave accordingly, and apparently he didn't do that.

  23. Portland, just now. The show was held in that dilapidated building over there, the only left standing after Antifa raided the region.

  27. An insider told me tonight they are playing a 3 hour long version of KOHD. The encore will be an hour long version of Eye on You ft. DJ Ashba and Chris Pitman. If it doesn’t happen, plans changed.

  28. Of all the links the mods haven't immediately taken down. God damn it. It's also amazing that they managed to track down every single Ashba fan for that video.

  29. Does anyone remember when we had that studio interview in 2009 when the band was rehearsing and you can clearly hear Ashba actually (trying to) playing that full SCOM solo? When I'm sad I like to remember that solo just to laugh a bit.

  31. Yeah that definitely seems more in line with how DJ really is. All about publicity.

  32. Well we saw how that worked out (Sixx AM). Frank - They were told that Matt was a non-starter so they were basically forced to go with Frank. Richard- Well Izzy never showed and they couldn't come to an agreement and Slash and Duff seem to like him so they were like whatever fine. Melissa - Slash doesn't care Big difference between playing on that song and having DJ Ashba on stage next to you every night. Slash has a lot more leverage than people realize. Duff alone wouldn't be enough to play stadiums again.

  33. Axl didn't want to have three guitarists before Slash left in the same way he had them in NuGnR; it seems he had thought of that as a solution to the Gilby/Paul situation (one for the studio and the other for the tour). And NuGnR started as a two guitar band. The three guitar thing was not planned. Axl replaced Finck with Buckethead, but then Finck returned and Axl didn't want to lose any of them, so it turned into a three guitar band.

  34. Pitman was probably fired because he didn't get along with Slash and Duff, and then he bitched because only Axl's, Slash's and Duff's name were included in the reunion announcement, and his name wasn't. So Slash and Duff didn't exactly join NuGnR. Slash had some leverage and I don't think he would accept Ashba.

  35. Prediction: Same set list with a song or 2 in a different place, Axl makes a joke about love songs before YCBM or Absurd, KOHD & RQ are played and break the world record for longest songs played continuously.

  36. were you at the gig last night? i was. YCBM was a highlight. Axl's overall performance was fabulous. so many people in their own ridiculous GnR obsessively critical bubble on this forum. if this were 1992 and UYI tour recordings were being posted people would knock them. yeah - he has aged. but he is still crushing it, commanding the stage better than frontmen half his age and a very competent live vocalist. can he do things vocally he could 15 yrs ago? no ... but thats because bar was so high

  37. Well, all I can say is that we are real lucky to have gotten Richard; him and Slash are an incredible pair

  38. I have a US and European pressing of Chinese Democracy and of course, I've got a YouTube video filmed that will be out soon on them. Having said that, the European pressings sound WORLDS better than the US pressings.

  45. Kicked ass. Fun seeing Steven live. Singer was outstanding. Great band. Mostly all GnR songs. I’d see this again in a heartbeat. Huge crowd. Steven has that magical smile still. I just loved it all. So glad I went!!!! *** I don’t think Steven was late….rather Vegas billed it as 9-11PM. Steven was contracted for 90 minutes from what I understand. So NOT his fault. Vegas wanted the 30 minutes for the stupid ass comedian etc

  46. Possibly, but I suppose Axl had something in mind when he asked for Slash's number in March. I don't think he called Slash just to say hi

  47. Sometimes the fates align and things work out they need to lol. I just think that with Slash in the group there is no need for three guitarists - I always perferred the one-two punch of two guitars on stage. I remember the shows I saw in 2011-2012 being unable to distinguish the wall of guitar sounds from each other whereas in the 2016 shows I caught I could pick apart each guitar part anytime If this was indeed true, it sounds like Axl wanted initially for Slash to be a BBF replacement in his version of the band or something lol, and maybe BBF, DJ, and Tommy all leaving at once kind of forced his hand to make it a bit more of a full on traditional reunion/regrouping thing Plus Slash next to DJ Ashba in his GNR stage attire on the same stage would be like a "Dr. Evil and Mini-Me" thing going on
