  1. Awesome to hear. I hope everyone going tonight has a great time. One thing of note- Please remember to take detailed notes for the forum to post after. This includes, but is not limited to: Exact percentage of rasp used on every song The chances you thought you were going to hear HS beforehand against your disappointment level afterward when it wasn't played How old you were when KOHD started along with your age when it finished If Axl was in a good mood AND cracking jokes or just one or the other The opinion of the people around you of Absurd when it was played The exact number of concert goers who thought Fortus was Izzy Thanks!

  2. From the creators of "The next chapter" and "All new show" comes "Tonight gonna be special" *they play the same setlist as ever*

  3. I heard from some top secret underground insiders that they're playing a hybrid of "Rocket Queen" and "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" titled "Knockin' On The Rocket Queen's Door" that's supposed to be around 2 hours long.

  5. I feel like people like to shit on current members because nostalgia, mainly. For some reason Tracy&Roberta are OK and should come back "if Axl needs help", but apparently Melissa shouldn't be there (even if she adds much more to the shows than just backing vocals). Same with the Gilby/Fortus comments. Some people don't realize it isn't 1992 anymore

  6. Those things have nothing to do with rock music, they effect every singer. Also, rock fans aren't stupid and don't need basic things explained to them lol

  7. But it will only be an instrumental. Axl hasn't recorded vocals for anything.

  8. He probably barely even speaks to the current members

  9. The technology to incorporate video didn't really exist back when we did the book and we didn't consume video back then like we do now. The show is a more robust look at the archives. Again happy to answer these questions and more on a Q&A here.

  10. Ya know what? Fuck it. What have I got to lose? I say HardSkool gets played tonight…..again. 😏

  11. They could literally say outright tonight we will play Hard School and I still wouldn’t believe it until the very last note of the entire song. Even then I would have to watch it to make sure I didn’t hallucinate.

  13. The funny thing is that your co-worker is actually pretty well informed, compared to all the casuals who have never even heard of Izzy.

  14. I agree, same here. Michael was somebody that everybody has an opinion on, whether you know alot about him or have just seen a picture of him. Most people attack him on his looks, his behavior or the allegations and I'm glad this isn't the case here - and I'm also glad that there's more MJ fans here than I expected So thank you, @lilacmess for uniting us

  16. My guess is the "tonight is gonna be special" social media post happened for 2 reasons: 1) to sell tickets 2) the show is near Axl's home town. Would I love an Izzy appearance and/or a new song debut? Of course. I just don't think either of those things are what the social media post is about.

  19. My boy turned 14 yesterday and has loved the band since he was 5. What better way to celebrate than catching the show in the pit tonight?

  20. I really like Melissa's singing voice. her backing vocals on Madagascar especially during the last chorus. Someone mentioned Chinese. Also great. Powerful voice with a cool timbre to it. I much prefer the way her voice sounds with Axl's compared to Tracy and Roberta. you can argue about if she and her synths are necessary but I guess it depends on the band and how important are the details of the instrumentals to a specific listener and what they want to hear. it's hardly rare for a rock band to do this like others have already mentioned, only most bands do it the lame way obscured from audience view but if you're against synths in Gn'R there's really no point in discussing it if you can't differentiate your musical preference from the musician who happened to get the Gn'R gig and is just doing her job. (and doing it well in this case, I might add) should Axl ever choose to utilize Melissa as a composer in Gn'R, she'd already proven she's talented enough in that department as well by collaborating with Bucket and Brain. fake flute flurries were a part of the recorded version of November Rain so I feel like it does have its place in the live show.

  21. Pele told me that they're going to play a song from the new record on this one. It's called KOHD

  22. The fact that so many of you don't know what Melissa brings to the live sound is proof she is good at her job. She is there to enhance and thicken the sound not to stand out. GnR could choose to have someone stand off the side of the stage with a Mac book but they elect to give us a fully live experience. Honestly I'm not sure the band has ever sounded tighter (minus Axl) and if they have it was well before Axl formed NuGuns and she is a part of that. Like it or not.

  23. Has it ever occurred to you that Axl means stuff he says? I don't understand this narrative you're presenting in which he just lies and makes excuses about everything. The vocals on Madagascar are clearly intentional for the song. Do you think he sang it like that accidentally? People not liking them is totally subjective. It's pretty clear that Axl has always enjoyed Silkworms, and Slash and Duff clearly enjoy playing it. It's not that deep.

  24. It will be played 7-31, 8-3, 8-5, 8-8 8-11, 8-13, 8-16, 8-19 8-22, 8-25, 8-27, 8-30, 9-1, 9-4 tomorrow night, I can feel it

  25. I hear her on backing vocals all the time and she sounds great - if that’s all she did then that alone would be fine. The fact she does all sorts of other additional stuff to enhance the overall sound is a bonus. I don’t understand the big fuss to be honest. 🤷🏼‍♂️

  26. well according to my HAЯDSKOOL METER it says a SPECIAL version of KOHD will be played tonight. Whole 1 hour version of it. There will even be a sing along with the crowd in the middle of it. Should be fun for us here too, you can go grocery shopping and come back home streaming with Fortus just starting his solo. Hey, if you ain't Fortus you're against us

  27. Correct, I think the deal with the city mandates the roof is closed for concerts. I went to U2 and I was closed for that show as well. It’s an absolutely perfect day here FWIW, sunny, not a cloud in the sky….80 degrees at 5:00

  28. I haven't heard most of the songs you mention. Will do. 😊 I realky didn't expect to find a bunch of hardcore superfans here. It is nice, though. I now almost feel unworthy having started this thread. 😅

  29. Love Is It Scary, and Ghosts and the sound effects of what he's singing about in the moment. It has a cinematic feel to it, if that makes sense?

  32. But is pointing out The Who aren't as wild as they were in their 20s or that The Rolling Stones aren't changing the face of music anymore REALLY news or a big revelation to anyone? It's a bit like an article telling us Marlon Brando wasn't such a hearthrob when he was 80. The article could really be just a line saying "young rockstars aren't as good when they get old". I'm not sure I've ever met one rock fan who would disagree with that let alone "don't want to admit it".

  41. Yeah, I believe it could have been considered for a charity disc, a B-Side or a bonus disc back when he had plans of writing more songs and completing all of those fantastic instrumentals. I think at this point, it's a strong contender for the album because I strongly and firmly believe the well is dry. No need to remind me Axl said he recorded Soulmonster, Fortus said there were new vocals or Beta said there was a 'CD'. We'll all find out who is right when we see the track-list.

  46. I was not drunk during a show. Nor I only care about Slash top hat. If Axl needs help he could get Tracy and Roberta when it comes to his voice. During the UYI tour they had Teddy also playing keyboards. He is gone. And I don't see anyone begging to get him back. Some shows from the Skin N Bones Tour were much better that what we had back in 92 and today. I never heard anyone complaning that November Rain sucks without Melissa and her flute flurries as she put it

  47. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/guns-n-roses-melissa-reese-interview-1003943/ The gig meant she had to learn roughly 50 songs in granular detail so she could help replicate them on the stage. That includes keyboard parts along with countless tiny samples she had to create herself, like the flute flurries on “November Rain,” along with guitar parts she plays on the keyboard and various sub-bass frequencies. “I had to do an insane amount of shit, plus be able to sing backgrounds for Axl,” she says. “It’s stuff that would be hard to pick out, because I’m using sounds that are meant to enhance what’s already going on with Richard [Fortus] or another guitar part. It’s supposed to just sound bigger when I’m doing it, but it’s not supposed to stand out.” and “I think that 99 percent of the people that go see Guns want to see the top hat and Axl do his thing and Duff,” says Mantia. “They don’t get at all what she’s adding. If you take her away, the low end where she’s doubling Slash’s riff on ‘Brownstone’ wouldn’t sound the same. Axl’s voice wouldn’t sound as thick on a lot of parts. But they wouldn’t give a fuck anyway, since they’re drunk and all they want to do is see Slash do his solo and twirl.”
