  1. Predictable set list aside, show was killer. Band was super-tight, Slash playing as well as ever, and Axl sounded the best out of the 10-11 reunion gigs I’ve been to (Vegas, NYC and NJ.) Axl was in a great mood, which never hurts. At one point near the end (maybe just before PC?) he was on Duff’s side and backed into Slash and said “What the fuck are you doing over here?” Small venue definitely the way to go. Charge more, play multiple nights. Even managed to grab the lithograph inside 50 minutes after doors opened. Looking forward to tomorrow’s show.

  2. I had to remove posts because yet again, covid discussion should be avoided in show threads. There's a covid thread already so please use it

  3. I'm unvaccinated and enjoyed the GN'R show this year in Detroit without a mask, as I'm sure thousands of others did at the show too. Didn't seem to be a spreader event some would think. I've faced things that had higher than 1% chance of killing me (assuming I'd get it) before with less fear than attending a show during a pandemic. Not trying to say covid isn't dangerous, it certain is, just like damn near everything else we do every day.

  4. I don't really think being 'anti-Trump' has much to do with it. Surely being 'anti-Trump' is just the default setting now for anyone with even half a brain cell? I don't think there's anything calculated about Axl's dislike for the Orange Mussolini.

  5. It is sweet. I suppose it's like having grandkids for him in a way. All the fun and none of the responsibility!

  6. Guys this was an AMAZING show. I went in with low expectations after being in Hershey. This ranks up there with the best I’ve seen, plus, I’ve never seen Axl as energetic and into it as he was last night.

  7. Lol, so much for the setlist recommendations on social media 😂

  8. That's not unusual, you'll see road cases with all kinds of old logos on them. Slash still has stuff with the VR logo painted on it, and I've seen cases in the past with names of bands that don't even exist anymore.

  9. Golden era rockstars are like teflon when it comes to cancellation. I think it's partly because they've always been upfront about the sex, drugs and R&R and it's what people expected of them in their prime and sometimes beyond. Look at what Bill Wyman got away with! I think the only way it becomes a serious issue for any of them right now is if recent allegations get made rather than the shit they got up to at 25. Even then I'm not sure how much appetite there is for taking down rockers. In a weird way it might be because they don't hold institutional power like politicians, studio execs etc...they're rich and famous but other than that loads of them are just ex addicts and fuck ups.

  10. Credit to Axl. He looks incredible this run and the happiness is radiating from him. Man has put the work in exercise-wise.

  11. That was my biggest takeaway from the Detroit show. Axl looked wayyyy happier than I'd ever seen him.

  12. The perfectionist label was something others have said, I don't think Axl himself has said that. Either way please stop saying the same stuff ad nauseum. It's gotten really boring now, we get it, okay?

  13. You keep going with the same argument, I'm starting to think you don't get it.

  15. There were no witnesses to the actual incident. She said there were other people in there, who were not passed out, but didn't name them when she was asked here, saying she didn't know who they were (although she said she was a regular in that place). She named certain people that were there afterwards, but most likely the documentary couldn't verify with them (and they wouldn't be able to confirm the actual incident anyway). There were also many other parts in that story (that she dated Axl, that she was pregnant and miscarried, etc.), some of which didn't sound at all believable. If they couldn't verify any of that with witnesses, or find the police report and potentially court documents, or at least pictures, then there was nothing to back it up. Then she said some things like that one of Duff's songs in his latest solo album was about her and that Duff said that in an interview, which wasn't true. Last but not least, that was a case that went through the legal system and the charges were dropped. Sheila Kennedy has named witnesses (it's in her book - see my post above) that were there during the incident, although I doubt the documentary verified with them. Maybe her story sounded more believable to them, plus it'd already been out there without legal issues.

  17. Just a rambling: UMG manually took 4 videos of my YouTube channel, which led me to 2 strikes. I just post guitar covers and an occasional own stuff there. I understand that they felt the need to took down after I posted a cover of an unreleased track (Perhaps), but they even took down my Absurd cover, which I posted at the same day the song got released. It's very frustrating to deal with this kind of shit on YouTube, as many of you know. But in my case I put a lot of work to learn, record, mix and edit the videos. To think that someone actually thought that I was doing the band any harm is ridiculous.

  18. You read that right before I deleted my post I regretted going down the COVID rabbit hole as soon as I hit post cause I wanted to bring it back to GNR, but I will reply to that. I am not as much of a fan of that Aussie idea, but I am a fan of vaccine requirements (and mask mandates) in public events where lots of people gather, to me you can have one without extrapolating to the other

  20. I think that Axl's greatest achievement this last few shows in comparison to the first ones, was to make Better sound listenable again. This one and Indianapolis have been very solid. However, I think he's reaching his limit, it's evident from the videos that he's giving it all 110%. I don't think there's much more room for improvement at this point.

  21. I'll preface this by saying any fucked up criminal behaviour should not be tolerated and any and all legal action should be taken against wrongdoers. And I'm sure Axl isn't a saint, to put it mildly. That being said 'Little Michelle' as she likes to be called, is clearly a lying fruitloop. And now I hear Axl had consensual rough sex with a 25 year old. It's a slow news day, folks.

  22. These two phrases don't really compare. Other one is about exploiting one's position of power to degrade women in real life situations and other one is lyrics.

  23. As mentioned before by others, I really don't think they want to show their former selves this way at this point. The drinks, the drugs, the stupidity, Axl's over the top diva behaviour - everything interesting/ hilarious would probably be cut out now. So, as with many, many other things Gnr: This ship has sailed.

  24. Russ felt that way too, but then GNR moved Jungle by 2 spots and re-worked a 20-year old throwaway back into the set. Each their own

  25. I imagine he very much doesn't! There is the concept of people growing and maturing up you know. It's an unfashionable concept these days when our world leaders act like spoiled children.....but not actually being the same person we were when we were 20 is still embraced by many!

  28. Axl is doing a great job today. I know someone pointed out that we always say that, but he's bringin his A game tonight, no cringe moments so far, I really think he's doing great. I mean, if you remember the first Madagascar they did this year, he was struggling a lot. He's also in a great mood tonight, very chatty.

  30. My aunt got me a ticket to a Motley Crue show years ago (I'm by no means a fan, but she's awesome and needed a show buddy). We're not po faced people, but we wound up leaving during Tommy Lee's TittyCam (TM). At one point Tommy was harassing a young woman to get her boobs out for the cameras (while also encouraging the crowd in a chant of 'GET. THEM. OUT' or some shit). "Come on baby, they're just titties, I'll bust my shit out for you!" Seeing this woman (probably about 18/19 years old) reluctantly acquiesce to Tommy was the absolute lowlight of my concert-going life. My aunt went and got a refund on her merch and we drove home feeling deflated. Fuck those guys.

  31. Teflon indeed. I was just thinking about Wyman the other day. I wonder if his retreat from the public eye has been to avoid heat for his weird (or ultimately criminal) behaviour. I'm a Stones fan and I'm holding on to their LPs, but I wouldn't have bought tickets to see 'em if Bill was still there. I don't judge people harshly if they feel otherwise, I believe we can all draw the line where we want - I just don't think rockers like Wyman (or others who come to mind) can be defended in the same way that say Jerry Lee Lewis can (i.e. weird as it sounds to urban folks in the 21st century, marrying your 13 y.o. cousin wasn't that strange in 1950s Louisiana...) Interesting in the case of Morrissey where his apparent 'cancellation' isn't due to sexual indiscretions, but rather an alignment with the hard-right and awful statements like referring to Chinese people as a 'subspecies'. As much ire as it has provoked, I don't think many/any of my left-leaning friends have thrown out their Smiths records, and I know he's been embraced by some conservative folks as a result of the controversy. Pre-Covid he still seemed to be filling live venues, so sometimes it seems 'cancellations' are a shift in audience demography. Anyway, maybe he'll end up on a double-bill at a county fair with that dingdong from Staind sometime I'm a fan of some of Kanye West's records and have enjoyed his shows, but I found his recent embrace of Marilyn Manson and Da Baby to be a cynical publicity stunt rather than something which pointed towards mercy or redemption. It might also be tough to tell if someone like Manson has been 'cancelled' or is simply washed up? One other thought...I'm not really sure that GnR is a safer/tamer entity these days on account of being 'woke' or 'PC', as some like to accuse them of. It seems far more likely that Axl has done a fair bit of growing up, especially in the last 10 years or so. Of course they're not going to be the raging, raw-nerve group they were in their youth. Geez...I could go on with these tangents for way too long. I should probably stop this stream of consciousness that's probably getting off topic!

  32. Can we go one show without mention of covid/vaccinations? It can get a bit tiresome after a while. There's other threads for that. Wonder how many hours KOHD will be tonight 🤔👁️

  34. If we follow the Absurd route, the song was actually debuted live the night before the one of the "release announcement". So, HS should be debuted tomorrow. Chicago would be the 2nd time they play it live. That's my theory. But I 100% agree that if we are getting Hard Skool this year, then it has to be this week. Either tomorrow or at Chicago.

  35. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the only tour footage we get in the $1000 UYI anniversary boxset is a HD remaster of the Japan DVD's. This place would go into meltdown

  36. This was the BEST show i have seen ( video feed wise) those camera men take the cake, something like this should be released as SELECTS. unlike the 2019 horrible videos.

  37. Oh wow! Fuck that is small. I would love to see them in an intimate venue like that, thanks mate. I think the smallest crowd I have ever seen Guns live in was around 15,000. And the largest like 80,000 - 100,00 people.

  40. Beta is streaming live on Instagram. Looks like a great show in an intimate venue. Axl is talking a lot to the crowd but I can't hear what he's saying. He sounds in great voice and the band sounds tight (as usual). I know Knockin' on Heavens Door is usually not a popular one on this forum but it sounded brilliant (from what I saw). Looking forward to Chicago next week.
