  1. Someone we all know showed up and complained about the vocals from 1999

  2. It's like parenting, you have to big up even the smallest achievement to encourage them to do more, granted that Axl has been at the toddler stage for far too long but y'know, baby steps.

  4. Rock singles have never done well in the charts. The stats on GN’R singles in 1990’s don’t paint a picture of how successful they were. The charts will always be filled with what the youth are listening to, now more than ever given the way they can stream. This forum really is the pits at the minute. My favourite band are on tour, releasing music and seemingly enjoying it..this swamp of negativity on here is depressing.

  6. it's not about others and their own agendas. It's ego, ignorance, and fear. even after the pandemic killed more than 4.5 million people. Impressive. All the evidence in the world wouldn't be enough for some people. if you don't get the vaccine, you put yourself and other people at risk for no good reason. Everything else is just bullshit you repeat/tell yourself.

  7. I’d love them to call the new album “99 Vocals”.

  9. Wouldn't it be kind of funny if the live versions of Don't Cry and You're Crazy didn't even end up being NITL versions and instead were just the Live Era versions?

  10. Would’ve been amazing if he played them Eye on You and said it was the first recording.

  12. Axl/DC doesn't sound anything like the 90s, it sounds better. 90's were either too raspy or too nasal, 2010 and Axl/DC is the right amount of rasp.

  13. Another one with Todd: And damn me if this Nightrain doesn't sound better musically than GNR, Brent is doing magic on drums:

  14. I think people are giving them props merely for finally releasing music, not for the paraphernalia that go with it. And it's not like someone has to buy those in order to get the music. If one wants to buy just the cd (which is - surprisingly - reasonably priced) and or the vinyl, it's fine, if they want the stickers etc., too, it's up to them, and if they want to just stream the songs that's fine, too. I just don't understand why one might not want the music just because they released some themed merch items.

  15. I agree. The constant NITL touring probably doesn't help matters, but he had a level of consistency at the 2016 Guns shows that we didn't see again beyond that and that is likely because of AC/DC. There were even some shaky, voice cracking AC/DC gigs near the end of that run. I watched a Hells Bells recently from one of the final US shows (I can't remember which off hand) and he cracked a few times. Now, in 2021, when he does manage to get some rasp out it has a gurgled, unhealthy quality to it. There's no clarity to his enunciation anymore like there was previously. Plus, while a lot of people point to AC/DC as proof that Axl can still do it, that was already five years ago and I just don't think he could do it again. I think he needs proper coaching and to rearrange more songs to fit what he can still do.

  16. You can do it, buddy! Come on, Axy Waxy...Do the sing-y sing-y

  17. I think AC/DC ruined his voice. He was amazing in 2016 but he was never quite the same after the AC/DC gigs.

  19. Haven’t read the whole thread yet but i hope Axl recorded everything in 2006. His studio vocals would have been flawless around this time

  22. I just read a Rolling Stone article about Dave Grohl, and it's hard not to like this guy. Not that there's a reason to dislike him. About recording new music: “Long before anybody listened to anything I recorded,” he says, “I recorded these things by myself. Basically, just to impress myself, in my friend Barrett [Jones’] basement studio, playing all the instruments, not wanting anyone to hear them because I was so insecure and embarrassed by my twee little voice and bad guitar playing and stupid lyrics. Didn’t want anyone to hear that. But I would bring it back to my room on a cassette, take a few bong hits, and listen and be proud that I had done this myself. So it’s the same feeling now. Demoing songs, showing it to the band, going into the studio, recording them together as a band, and then listening to it afterwards. The feeling of accomplishment matters to me. If I walked into a studio, and I couldn’t fucking record a song, then we wouldn’t be a fucking band. It’s still this exercise in proving to yourself that you can do it.”

  23. Passed 1,000,000 views on the official audio today (woo hoo ) I really hope they release anything for an official video to help boost the single, and get the song in some spotify rock playlists ASAP. Interviews would also help, why does Axl hate promoting songs he spends decades on?

  24. I think you guys are dreaming. He has sounded the exact same 2016-2021 except for the ACDC shows. Fucking look it up. Nothing changed, he wasn't any less mickey in 2016, apart from the Houston show. He sounded awful on songs like YCBM and RQ and PC BEFORE the ACDC shows, and after. Didn't "damage" or change his vocals at all.

  26. I should also mention that in no way do I think Axl is phoning it in at these gigs. He's definitely giving it his all. Even at the unfortunate Hershey show he was clearing trying. Plus, he's genuinely looking less bloated and in a great mood cracking jokes.

  31. Rocket Queen and KOHD provide excellent break opportunities. You can leave for a five star restaurant, order a full meal plus dessert, eat it, stop at the bathroom, and still be back before the songs are over.

  32. That's another thing I like about Todd Dammit Kerns is he has a pretty good voice, the video above showing that. He also does a pretty decent job with WTTJ. I mean, yeah, he's not a superb singer or anything and surely can't capture vintage AXL ... but he does a very good job with those 2 songs when SMKC performs them. FWIW, Todd is a self-professed fan of DUFF and GN'R stating that they are among his all-time favorites. Says GN'R is in his top 3 all-time bands. That makes sense considering how well he seems to know the songs.

  33. Guns N Roses would sound better live today if you had Fitz and Frank playing with Slash/Duff/ Axl. Musically (minus vocals) Slash's band plays circles around the current GNR when playing GNR songs. Fitz frankly might sound more like a GNR drummer than anyone they've had since Steven when it comes to nailing the sound. It is night and day listening to him vs Frank. Throw in the lack of Dizzy/Melissa littering the songs with stuff that doesn't need to be there and it just takes away from the sound.

  34. And that Volbeat song is not a cover of GnR's Shotgun Blues unfortunately.

  35. It's not a EP. It's a single. GnR already released stuff like this in the past... https://www.discogs.com/es/Guns-N-Roses-Welcome-To-The-Jungle/release/2599598

  36. Taken from amaninjapans info: "The litho is a reference to the Carolina Gold Rush of 1799 and is designed to look like the North Carolina lottery "Gold Rush" scratch-off lottery ticket."

  37. Yep, this was my reaction as well. Don't really understand why people are giving them props or acting like this is some huge milestone. Once an album is announced I'll get excited about buying something. I'm thinking one isn't coming and we'll just be getting stuff like this from now on if anything at all, though.

  38. The Sun, huh? Must be true. Seriously though, you're probably correct. We'll never know. And moreover, I've always felt it really doesn't matter. Unless they can prove that China purposely released the virus rather than some form of accident, there's not much we can or would want to do about it (other, of course, trying to make sure that these accidents don't happen again). That said, closing wet markets would be a great start.

  44. Proper African tour would be challenging due to logistics and economics (huge distances, poor road infrastructure, they would have to move gear from show to show by cargo planes, they would have to sell out stadiums with 60k~ capacity in poor 3rd world countries). That's why most artists who go to there restrict themselves to South Africa only. Technically if Axl really wanted an African Tour, they could do something like this: Cape town, Port Elizabeth, Johannesburg (South Africa), Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania), Nairobi (Kenya), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Cairo (Egypt), and maybe Algiers (Algieria). Would a tour like this be profitable at all ? Don't know

  45. Just saw this comment in YouTube: Lots of people criticizing axle and his voice saying he should hang it up. These guys dont need the money, they are, and have been set for life. This has been for the fans. They didn't cancel because of covid restrictions like some other bands.Baltimore got one hell of a treat. They played for 3.5 hrs and left it all on the line. Been to hundreds of concerts and they arent even my favorite band, but it was the best show I have seen. People are also saying tickets didn't sell well. Check out this video... Packed house even with restrictions. Thank you Guns for a show for the ages!!! The casuals are loving it. Maybe we need to slow down a bit and enjoy this band with less expectations.

  46. I know such an overtly positive thread will probably be met with negativity by some, but I think Axl, band and management have done a great job of turning things around in 2021. I won't lie, I was pretty jaded and cynical before the tour started, but for the first time in ages it feels like it's fun to be a Guns fan again. Not everyone can make it to the live shows and there hasn't been a whole lot to feel positive about with regards to Guns for those of us unable to see the band live in recent years. Whilst I am (perhaps naively) hoping that the single releases continue and that one day we might even get a full album, I must tip my hat to the band for finally entering the 21st century, embracing the use of streaming services, playing new songs live and even releasing a physical format single for the first time since 1996. Nice one band and management.
