Honestly having listened to the Youtube version with Bose headphones, it sounds identical to the intro of Finck's solo. -

Yeah I get you, but ultimately I imagine in the Nu-Guns era everything was contractually attributed to Guns N' Roses - as in, any creative contributions would fall under that umbrella rather than individual personnel. -
Yeah in the multitracks the proper wah bits sounded very Bucket but couldn’t say for sure. Looks like another zombie approach of layering guitars on guitars. If no leaks had ever taken place with Rhiad, maybe we would be arguing over whether there was ever a Bucket/Robin version of them also. Based on this I think there is a ‘Bucket’ version of Shackler’s somewhere in the vault. Hopefully one day we can hear it.

No but I mean a proper Bucket version. We don’t have definitive confirmation that the rhythm guitarists on Shackler’s are indeed Bucket. For example, the rhythm guitar was updated between antiquiet leaks and CD for Rhiad, leading to speculation that it was re-recorded by BBF. So, think it’s possible the final version of Shackler’s is Bucket’s composition but not his playing.

Sorry to bring this one back up, just had a bit of an epiphany about it this morning Your comment has been on my mind for a while and you're absolutely correct about the comping of solos. As much as I think TWAT is the greatest GN'R solo (not the most iconic, but the best), I think it's fair to say its comped from different takes rather than one long untampered Bucket solo. However, I think it is safe to say there were some changes from the demos in Village sessions to the final cut. Case in point - Sorry. Whilst the vast majority of Sorry stayed the same, structure etc, the solo was re-recorded by Bucket so based on this I think it is a reasonable assumption to say that there was an "updated" demo of Shackler's, albeit without vocals, that was created post-Shanklers.

I think the majority of people here are expecting it to be in similar vein to Hard Skool and Absurd: - Song structure to say very similar to Village sessions (as heard in the soundchecks). - Slash/Richard/Duff to replace the original Guitar/Bass work and adapt slightly, ultimately making it sound more "GNR-like". - Same Axl vocal take as previously heard.

Tommy Stinson on Chinese, GNR and Axl

Not sure history will view it as their best but definitely their most progressive. -
That’s a great observation and one I’ve considered more and more since the locker leaks. Once the track listing for RM2(?) was leaked and we knew we were getting Shankler’s Revenge I was so excited as I thought we’d hear a very close demo, structure wise at least, to what we got on CD, but that couldn’t have been further from the truth. Your earlier comment too about the replacing of rhythm tracks on Riad, combined with the topic of Axl’s vocals and therefore the date being so late in the CD-sessions recording also leads me to believe these aren’t Bucket on the final version. However, the only thing that makes me think there was a close-ish version with Bucket on is the RB2 multi-tracks and that when you use the isolated lead guitar stem you can hear something that resembles an old solo buried in the mix. Now, is that confirmation of a Bucket solo? Not definitive, but think it’s a strong indication.

Honestly this is the sort of thing that always boggles my mind with this band - it’s always “trying” to figure out how to release a song or album. I used to think there must be some huge red tape stopping them but the Azoff thing was resolved years ago, the partnership is back together and then they got Absurd/HS out indicating that any BTS stuff was actually bullshit.

My guess is that he wants to differentiate the Axl/GNR version from the Scott/VR one

Setlist.fm saying ISE, Estranged, civil war and anything goes - can anyone confirm?
-
Yeah that’s fine - I have been up town anyway so need to go home and change first. Wanted ideally to pick up lithos and take home rather than hold on to during the gig
-
Dang just as I got here. Right gonna head home and back again for 3pm

Lovely - thanks for that. May head up around midday to see if I can snag one then but let’s see! Cheers!
