I'm sure the London shows are going to be amazing!
Hope you have a great time and good luck with your spying and snooping around, I know you're good at that too and iirc, you said you wanted to check out their hotel in London, so keeping my fingers crossed for you!

They trashed an entire hotel floor? That just sounds like really good fun to me
Apparently if the people who told me that are to be believed. Must have trashed it pretty badly too if they're still banned from staying there, even after all these years

So glad you caught a great spot in spite of the idiots pouring thousands of dollars to get on the rail
Loved your review and your tales of the big ass, the drooler, the giraffe and the hangers onBTW...
Do you people realize that jacket is the SAME that Axl wears??
It is not shitty!!! It is the snake leather jacket from AMIRI but fuckin' Andrei makes it shitty because he shouldn't wear it!!! It sucks that he emules Axl so much and wears his same clothes. Stupid TB should let him know it is not cool to do that, just like you don't wear a white dress to a wedding!
Some of these people at the rail actually were really annoyed that people like me basically had the same spot they payed so much money for. Lesson learned for them I guess...
And yes, I realize Axl has the same jacket, but like you said, Axl can pull something like that off, while Andrei just looks like he's trying too hard and like a lame copycat
I actually thought about that while I was watching him when I noticed all the bandanas he had tucked into his back pocket (since we were just discussing this recently)
Btw, Axl's ass is still intact I didn't manage to take a bite out of it, so it's all yours still

@Lumikki, thank you for your lengthy and detailed report, as well as for the pictures. Awesome post!

Andrei... I thought his "job" was that of a "pimp", i.e. finding intelligent models for the shows and parties, but (thankfully) there has been no sign of these things since the European leg started - let's hope this won't change. So what's the purpose of him being there? Take pictures and wear Axl's clothes?
I was wondering about that too. He hangs around during the shows, stays with the band at the hotel, he travels in the same black cars, he basically gets treated like the band members and their families. And I didn't see him do anything during the shows in Munich, didn't notice him picking any girls out, haven't heard anything about there being a backstage party and Andrei was up and about pretty early again the next day. He was walking around Munich looking pretty fresh and well-rested, so I don't think there was any partying until the wee hours going on after the concert.

In regards to Axl touching Slash on the arm and back, it seems like Slash is the only one Axl actually touches in an intimate way. I'm acttually curious as to why it's Slash and not Richard or Duff. Was it also the same back when the band first started? As in Axl touching/being intimate with Slash rather than touching Duff and Izzy.
Axl does touch Duff as well. He often rests his arm on Duff's shoulers and leans onto him for example. There are also plenty of pics/videos of Axl being touchy with Duff and Izzy from back in the day. But yeah, all in all he probably does touch Slash the most, both now and back then. Axl also seems to enjoy teasing and annoying Slash the most while he's playing and when they were young, their cuddling was the most intense lol (Though Slash and Duff had their moments too...)
12 hours ago, dgnr said:Beautiful review, princess @Lumikki! So happy, you had a great time. You're going to Vienna too, right?
Just a few comments, if I'm allowed
- Thanks for the Andrei pic, it's much appreciated About his jacket, lol, he was wearing the same in Lisbon, but it was night and the fuckin thing sparkled with the stage lights, it was giving him the full pimp vibe, I remember I was just thinking 'Duuude, what the fuck with that jacket?'The same happened with Axl's SCOM jacket, awful
- So the security guy with the long beard was nice to you, giving fist bumps... I swear I was scared to death with him. He saw someone with a go-pro and the look on his face and the way he told the other security guy to go get the camera scared the shit out of me
- Beta and Meegan, I think they really are close. I noticed they comment on each others instagram posts a lot. It's good, I think. More power to the Slaxl
- Axl never leaving the room, what can we do? But at least he's coming to meet some fans now and going to soundchecks, focus on the small victories.
- I'm sad you didn't caught drooling Slash, it's worth itYes, I'll be in Vienna as well.
I guess scary security dude (someone in the show thread said he is Axl's bodyguard and his name is Gio???) is nice as long as you don't do anything that might piss him off. A woman standing next to me had a small fabric banner with her (nothing very big and no "provocative" message on it either, just something along the lines of "Greeting from some German city") and he immediately took it from her. He wasn't very rude about it, but wouldn't give it back either...
Beta and Meegan, yeah, I noticed them commenting on each others Instagrams a lot too (same with Susan), but I was still a bit surprised by stuff like Beta touching/stroking Meegan's face and hair and stuff. They also kept whispering into each other's ears when there was no music yet and no need to directly shout into each other's ears or anything.
And I was looking forward to drooling Slash, I'm sad I missed out on it
Btw, bonus pic of Andrei's ass for you:

Ooooh, you're right, that explains Slash not being seen by anyone in Munich. He must have left right after the show or early in the morning.
Good CSI work there!
And yes, it really is awesome that he travelled all the way back to L.A. to be there on Cash's special day
That's the kind of thing I like to hear about the guys

So, Munich... what can I even say that hasn't already been said a million times by people who have gone to previous shows? They were great. All three of them.
Axl sounded great (couldn't hear any Mickey or whatever in a live setting like this), moved around a lot and was in a really great mood. He was all smiles the entire evening.
Slash was amazing too of course. I really enjoyed his solo spots, which is not something I'm usually into, but Slash makes boring guitar solos worth watching and listening to.
Duff was great too, as usual. He wanders around the stage, looking like the coolest bassist ever. And I also got him to notice me and he smiled at me. That alone makes him the best in my book
Can't really say anything about Frank/Dizzy/Fortus/Melissa. I barely even noticed that they were there. Beta, Meegan, Nando, Andrei, Kat and Slash's bodyguard managed to draw my attention much more than they did throughout the show. Though I actually did notice Melissa's singing. Which is really nice. So I guess Melissa wins this one.Other random things:- Estranged was wonderful. I got a bit misty-eyed watching them perform that song in the same stadium the Estranged video was filmed at. After all these years. And with the same three people again. Kinda magical.- Axl said "I remember this!" (talking about the stadium I guess) early on in the show and also "So this is what daylight looks like! Interesting."- Yesterdays! It's one of my favorite GNR songs and I'm so happy they played it. Sounded great too.- Also was very happy about them playing Don't Cry. I like Don't Cry more than Patience, but was expecting them to play Patience, so I was pleasantly surprised.- Also was surprised about TIL. Not exactly my favorite CD song, but it was interesting to hear and see live. I liked the way Axl sang it and Slash' solo was beautiful.- Actually, now that I think about it, I really enjoyed Slash (and Duff) playing all the CD songs. More for the symbolic value than for the songs themselves (I like Better, but I can't stand TIL and CD), but still. Now I only wish they'd play some different CD songs (the ones I actually like) or some VR or Slash's solo stuff and I could die a happy GNR fan.
-At some point there was a really obnoxious girl who was trying to force her way into front row and kept throwing herself into everyone and bounced around crazily. Security pulled her out so fast she didn't even understand what was happening to her. The grim looking big guy with the long beard (I don't know what his name is, but I have seen him in a lot of pictures and videos) waved at her to come to the rail and she was all excited thinking she'd get special treatment or get to go backstage or something, but the guy just grabbed her, pulled her over the rail and told another security guy to escort her out of the stadium. She looked so confused and then indignant about what was happening. The other people in the crowd cheered when she was pulled out and GNR's grim security guy gave us all fistbumps lol. It was pretty funny. The guy clearly knows who he is working for and how Axl wants unpleasant people in the crowd to be dealt with. I've never seen security act so fast at a concert. In my experience, obnoxious people at concerts usually keep being obnoxious while security does nothing about it, so that was a nice change.- I did not notice people being bored by Coma or CD songs or whatever people like to claim usually. People around me were thrilled by Coma and sang along to it as well as the CD songs and cheered loudly for them. But then again I was right at the front where you'd presumably find the most hardcore fans.Anyway, here's some shitty pictures (I didn't take many because my phone's camera sucks badly):

The music wasn't bad, for when youre lying on the couch and getting high, but not for a rock concert. It was more of a downer and people were cheering when she announced the last song.
The Kills, I think.
But yeah, pretty boring. I felt kind of bad for her though with all the people booing and then cheering when she announced their last song.
Anyway, gonna post my review and pictures here too I guess...

Okay, where to start. I guess chronologically...
I arrived in Munich and decided to check out the town a bit first. Went by the guys' hotel (nothing much happening there) and went to see the Pop Up- Store. Lots of people there and even more confused people wondering what the hell was going on. Didn't buy anything though because I'm neither Axl nor Andrei and can't afford leather jackets for 1000€ or whatever. It was funny that the Guns N Roses Pop Up Store was on "Rosenstraße" = "Rose Street" though. Very fitting
I soon decided to go to the venue and when I arrived there I planted my ass under a tree right next to the entrance gate. So I spent all the waiting time sitting in the shadow. Best line up experience ever lol. When the gates opened I ran as fast as I can, but most places at the rail were already taken. I later realized that nearly all these people standing at the rail already had VIP wristbands. Both the more expensive "Early Entry Golden Circle tickets" and the actual ridiculously over-priced for what you get VIP tickets. Surprised they sold so many of the early entrance and the "Meet the stage crew for over 1000 Euro" tickets. But whatever, I still got second row and it wasn't even crowded. I'm annoyed that cameras weren't allowed in because from the spot I had and with no one bumping into me I could have taken some kick ass shots. But I saw Tako at the show as well and I hope she at least managed to smuggle her camera in somehow to take some awesome pics.
The opening acts were boring and I was just waiting for them to be over. I passed the time by watching Kat and Andrei mostly, since they were standing right in front of me. Andrei for some reason took a ton of pictures and videos of that girl from The Kills or whatever they were called. Funnily enough, the people next to me kept bitching about Andrei, saying that "that guy" looked like a complete douchebag and making fun of his leather jacket. They had no idea who he was, but apparently even casuals aren't immune to Andrei's douche vibes lol
Here's a pic for you @dgnr
Then, finally, the GNR intros on the video walls started playing. I noticed they had some Celtic and Viking looking imagery in there. I don't know if they just forgot to change the intro from Ireland or if this is their intro for all of Europe, but it was cool. Anyway the most important part:
The show. But what can I even say that hasn't already been said a million times by people who have gone to previous shows? They were great. All three of them.
Axl sounded great (couldn't hear any Mickey or whatever in a live setting like this), moved around a lot and was in a really great mood. He was all smiles the entire evening.
Slash was amazing too of course. I really enjoyed his solo spots, which is not something I'm usually into, but Slash makes boring guitar solos worth watching and listening to. I was also happy to see him wearing his black silk shirt. He looks so much better and classier in that than in dumb T-Shirts depciting orgies (or whatever it was that he recently wore ).
Duff was great too, as usual. He wanders around the stage, looking like the coolest bassist ever. And I also got him to notice me and he smiled at me. That alone makes him the best in my book

People around me were thrilled by Coma and sang along to it as well as the CD songs and cheered loudly for them. But then again I was right at the front where you'd presumably find the most hardcore fans.- Slaxl: Not much happened, it was like @dgnr described in her review: Axl tends to touch Slash's back and arms a lot, but nothing really noteworthy apart from that.
- Drool report: No drool on Slash face as far as I could see
The next day I did some sightseeing in Munich and also stopped by the guys' hotel again. People were still waiting there, expecting that the guys would have to come out any moment now, but I saw Andrei leave the hotel and shortly after Susan and Grace left the hotel too, presumably to go shopping or something. So I figured they weren't going to leave any time soon and went away again because I didn't feel like pointlessly waiting around.
I was right, when I returned some time later, they still hadn't left the hotel. But the ominous black cars they use and the police were circling around the block, so I stayed and creeped around a bit. I overheard some security guys planning how they'd go about getting everyone out of the hotel. I was pretending to study a restaurant menu, but as soon as they realized I was wearing a GNR shirt, they moved away a couple of meters so that I couldn't overhear them anymore and continued their very secret conversation in hushed voices. They acted like they were the FBI or something
Their secret plan seemed to basically consist of distracting and deceving the waiting people with decoy cars and stuff like that. They'd park one of their cars right in front of one entrance and people would run there. Meanwhile the guys could sneak out in the back and get into another waiting car there. A lot of people fell for that when Axl finally left the hotel. Then they heard the commotion from around the corner and came running back. They didn't miss much though, Axl crawled out of some backdoor next to the Hofbräuhaus and disappeared straight into his car. Duff and family had done the same thing over an hour earlier (though Susan posed and waved for a bit). Slash managed to mysteriously disappear without anyone at all seeing him. According to rumors he'd already left in the morning, but Meegan was still there, so who knows.
Anyway, I wasn't surprised by the whole thing being such a big production because I had already read about the various tactics they used to travel around in Craig Duswalt's book (among other things, they used to dress up other people as Slash and Axl to trick the waiting fans while the real Slash and Axl sneaked out somewhere else), but I'm not convinced that kind of thing is still really necessary these days.
All of this took place over the span of 2 or 3 hours I guess. Melissa, the fitness trainer, Natalia and the nannies were some of the first to leave. Duff and his family left some time later. Axl was the last (as far as I know, because I left too after Axl left). I can't help but wonder what the McKagans, Melissa etc. are doing meanwhile. Do they just sit around at the airport waiting for Axl to get his ass there?
Oh yeah, the concierge at the hotel also said that he'd talked to Duff and that Duff was a really nice guy and a "beautiful man" lol. He also said that he hasn't talked to Axl because Axl never left his room. But what else is new
Also @MillionsOfSpiders, since you were speculating about their hotel in London- I figured out why they were staying at the Mandarin Oriental in Munich and not at the Four Seasons: Apparently they were banned from ever staying at the Four Seasons again back in the 90s after they thrashed an entire floor there Or so some knowledgable Munichians told me. So I guess the Mandarin is just an alternative solution to them and not their hotel of choice and they probably won't be staying there.
Anyway, here's some shitty pictures (I didn't take many because my phone's camera sucks badly):

Usually they let all people through the same gates and once you're in there are signs where to go. But you should ask the staff at the concert tomorrow, they might separate the crowd this time.
Usually 90% of the people line up at the North Entrance and basically no one lines up at the South entrance even though they usually open both. (AC/DC 2015). It just so happens that the North Entrance is the first you see when you come to the Stadium. Everyone at the North entrance, once inside the stadium has to run all the way back to the south anyways und then once in the GA area run to the front of the stage So the people in the South Entrance only had half the way to run in the end.
That leads me to the prediction, that it will be like this: North Entrance (nearest to the stage): FOS1 and FOS2, South Entrance: General Admission. There was no FOS tickets for AC/DC, so lining up at the South was better, but this time it would be better to double check.
Anyways: have fun at the concert tomorrow, even though this is the nearest to me I'm waiting until Prague. Doing only one show and it should be special. Even though it is nice that Munich was featured in the Estranged video, the sound suffers at times because of the roof. It's not too bad for people standing, but there could be too much echoing when you are sitting under the roof. It's probably nothing that will spoil the experience for anybody, but it is definitely not the best sounding location on this tour.
Thanks for the detailed reply, really helpful. I guess I will line up at the North Entrance too. Don't want to be the idiot waiting at the south entrance if they don't open it after all lol.
-
So has anyone here been to other concerts at the Olympia Stadion and can tell us about the entrances there? Do they have different entrances for different categories of tickets?
On my other GNR tickets the entrance I need to go to is printed right on my ticket, but it says nothing on my ticket for Munich.

I hope not. There's a word: Fremdschämen and I don't know how to translate it.
There's nothing wrong with going for meeting Axl (or whoever), having an autograph and whatnot, if that's what you want but it's not me. Especially not screaming like banshee in a crowd of crazy fans.
The best translation I've heard is "secondhand embarassment". Cringeworthy is a useful word as well for shit like this.
And I'm feeling a lot of second hand embarassment watching that video.
All those people screaming and whining their names. It comes across as so desperate and needy. If I were Axl or Slash I'd be so put off by all these people screaming at me that I'd try to walk away from them as fast as I can.
I also see nothing wrong with wanting to meet Axl or wanting autographs (I did that myself last year), but I wasn't screaming at him and no one else was screaming either, thankfully.

I love it when he does that. Or when he looks at Slash with giant heart eyes. It's heartwarming indeed

I completely agree, @Lumikki! Not to ruin Izzy's "dangerous" image but I think Izzy is very laid back, caring and doesn't seem to hold grudges against anyone. The story about him checking in on Steven while Steven was suing them also sticks out to me. As far as I know I think Izzy was the only one who stayed in contact with Steven and made sure he was ok around that time.
Didn't know that story about Steven, but yeah I think that is another good example of Izzy being really caring. When all the other guys in the band, even his former best friend Slash, didn't want anything to do with him anymore, Izzy still checked up on him.
And he basically did the same thing with Axl. When Axl was on bad terms with everyone, Izzy still tried to check up on him regularly, while the rest of the guys couldn't be bothered.

Yes, that rings a bell for me. I think I remember reading that Izzy used to make necklaces and sold them to make money.

On 31.5.2017 at 11:10 PM, janrichmond said:OMG a whole class of those shirts! So do you think that's like a 'uniform' for the band and Axl just happened to have photos on band days?
I was joking about that being his only shirt, but he did seem to wear it pretty often and over a span of years. He's also wearing that flowery shirt in that portrait picture of him with a terrible bowl cut for example. In which he was probably younger than in all these yearbook photos.
I also don't think it's a uniform, because the other kids in these pictures usually don't wear anything similar:
On 31.5.2017 at 11:35 PM, MillionsOfSpiders said:He also seems to only have had the one pair of trainers for everything. Track running, wrestling, band practice.

And the same young lady responsible for daddy gate now has a band named "Rose Thorn" if I'm remembering this correctly.
And now Grace apparently has pictures of Axl in her room/apartment/whatever.
It seems that this little gang of young ladies has a soft spot for Axl or something.
Also relevant to this topic:
Vanessa posted a picture of her daughter wearing Axl's hat earlier. Not gonna post it here, but it's on her Instagram if anyone wants to see it.
Considering all of that, I think you might be justified in suspecting that Axl might secretly be closer to these children than we know of, @Tori72.
Who knows, Uncle Axl might well be very popular with all the little ones, from the babies and toddlers to the teenagers
I really want that for Axl He should at least be able to be the cool Uncle to all these kids or something.

About Duff and Susan... they're not just an Instagram couple, they're an Instagram family. They use their social media to promote every member of their family. Grace's music career, Mae's modelling career, Duff's writing, Susan's swimsuit business, and of course GNR. Everything. I guess they feel being all over social media is necessary for their continued success or something. And they do appear to have some harcore fans who are fans of the entire family and not just Duff. Which weirds me out a bit, but whatever.

Also, I'm not surprised about Izzy caring for his friends. We've heard stories. Like that one Taz told of the guitar Izzy sent to him, going to that gig of his former Hollywood Rose drummer or the 6 hour ride to Duff's birthday. Just because he wants to be left alone doesn't mean that he doesn't enjoy caring for his people.
On 2.6.2017 at 4:00 PM, Frey said:On 1.6.2017 at 11:14 PM, Tori72 said:I wonder what made Izzy so consistent in trying to stay / getting back to contact Axl? Izzy never struck me as the sentimental type?
Maybe not exactly sentimental, but contrary to popular belief (not in this thread obviously but you know what I mean) I do think he feels a sense of responsibility towards various things, including the well-being of his band mates. And you know, he's known Axl since they were children, he knows Axl is a nutball, he kind of watched out for him when they were new in LA... I guess he'll probably keep checking up on him for the rest of his life. It's that big brother/little brother thing @Kris_1989 once mentioned.
Also, I think Izzy is just a caring guy. In interviews, he always came across as genuinly worried about his friends. In the old ones he seemed mostly worried about Slash and Duff, in a more recent (recent by GNR standards...) one he seemed pretty worried about Axl.
So yeah, this whole checking up on Axl thing doesn't really surprise me. He seems to be doing the same with the other guys too.
Popping in to comment on this because this is something I've occasionally been thinking about as well in the last months.
Izzy has this aura of unflappable coolness and mystery that surrounds him, but I actually think there's a pretty sensitive and caring side to him as well, even though not many people seem to see it. I've only come to this conclusion throughout the past year myself, mostly through learning stuff about Izzy from the Women's Thread that I wasn't previously aware of.
We don't know much about Izzy, but like @Darkenchantress said, there are all these stories and bits of information floating around now that slightly altered my perception of him. The stories @Darkenchantress mentioned, or those interviews @Frey mentioned where he seemed worried about Axl, Slash and Duff. That interview where he talked about art and album artwork and how important that was to him as kid and learning that he likes to draw himself. Seeing him check on a little kid on stage with them, him getting upset over Slash's book and some stuff other people like Chris Weber or Niven have said about Izzy (and Axl), ... And all these cute childhood stories, like Izzy getting defensive over his mom, or Axl and Izzy working on art projects together in art class, Izzy knowing about Axl's messed up home life and Izzy's mom buying Christmas presents for Axl... And many other little bits and pieces I can't think of right now.
All in all, I get the impression Izzy was a good kid and a bit later, fueled by teenage/young adult cockiness and drugs, he ended up in pretty dark places for a while there, but then found himself again when he got clean and left all that behind him. Nowadays, he strikes me as the most "normal" and down-to-earth guy out of all of them (for the most part, anyway). Must be hard for him to deal with divas like Axl and Slash at times I assume this is also why he liked to hang out with Duff a lot, since Duff always seemed to be the other relatively normal and level-headed guy, after Izzy. Who knows how much of that currently still holds true though. If I had to bet however, I'd agree with @Kris_1989 , @Darkenchantress etc. about Slash being the main factor in this debacle, since everything seems to point in that direction

I learned stuff about the band that I never heard of before and might or might not have sighed and batted my eyelashes at one or two pics of some certain band members.
I love the humour here, the seriousness, the obnoxiousness and the fact that I talk to you guys from all over the world, sharing opinions, life experience and also dissagrements. I also love the fact how we handle most dissagrements here and support each other in arguments if felt necessary.

Okay, this is getting out of hand, so let me quickly state my expert opinion on this topic:
Izzy is hot, Fortus is... not. And that's final
@money honey That was a lovely review. You have a talent for writing. I could relate to the feeling of "OMG they're real!!!" and I'm glad to hear the CD songs are great live. I'm a bit annoyed with the CD songs they're playing (can't stand TIL and CD), so this gives me hope that I might like them after all lol.
The last time I heard Axl sing CD songs it was a great experience, because we were standing at the front rail and kept singing along to them despite the fact that the album hadn't been released yet (and wouldn't be released for another 2 years). Axl kept looking over at us with this "You brats illegally downloaded my songs"-look, it was hilarious. But back then he sang Madagascar and Street of Dreams, 2 songs that I actually love, and not fucking TIL and CD
@tifalucis Good luck! I know it sucks ass, but you can do it

You are lucky girl that you fit. To fit is not compulsory and sometimes not possible.
They tried to put me in girls collectives, but it always ended up like pushing square peg through round hole. Everyone suffered. I found out that I am happy with guys and it works so I hang out with guys. Or other not fitting girls. Most girls don`t hang out with me often, too. I am weirdo and I poorly recognize people and have no sense of maintaining women relationships that most women around me maintain. Too complicated and when I am accidentally involved, sick. Sugar coated shit. Or poison. Women tend to be backstabbing more often than men. I like open fights, if I have to fight. Basically, most of men really will respect borders you set them and if you are get used to communicate straight, it works (in my experience). That`s the attitude I was talking about.
I`ve never said I don`t do any feminine stuff or that it`s inferior. It`s just nothing for me mostly.
You know, I did some work to find out who I am. Yes, I understand men in a way women usually don`t and if that makes me misogynist, I feel proud misogynist.
I don't see what fitting in has to do with this, but for the record, I was never one of these "popular cheer leader" type girls either (if I were I probably wouldn't be wasting my time on this board lol). And I've met plenty of misogynist men. Hasn't every woman? There are more than enough awful assholes out there. Which is exactly why women should stick together instead of tearing each other down. And why it's so sad to see that you think of women as inherently vapid, superficial, sickly sweet, poisonous and backstabbing. Granted, there are some real bitches out there, but for every awful woman there's at least one awful man (or more than one...). It doesn't come down to gender, it comes down to people being people. Some are good and some are better avoided.
Also thank you to everyone for supporting me on this little rant lol. I'm usually not very confrontational, but this is a pet peeve of mine and a worrying attitude that keeps popping up in real life a lot as well, so it makes me happy to see so many people sharing my thoughts
------------
Anyway, speaking of women sticking together, thanks @Carlycosmos for the reminder about the thread anniversary. And lovely to see you again, oh great founder of the thread
Can't believe this thread is a year old now.
Not sure if some of the newer members are even aware of it, but this thread came into existence exactly because women stuck together, helped each other out and built something amazing of their own.
Backstory for those who don't know: Before this thread existed there was an on-going tension between the women of this board and some dudebros and morons in D&N who couldn't bear the thought of vaguely "female" topics being discussed in their very serious and important threads. Every time something came up that they deemed not worthy of discussion (or every time they saw women having and enjoying lively discussions of their own), they reacted with hostility and derision.
Finally, some of us girls had enough and started demanding a space of our own and thus the Women's Thread was born. Originally this thread was started in the D&N section, but it got moved (or should I say banished) rather quickly to the Jungle, because some people probably couldn't bear their precious D&N section being tainted with girl cooties or something
Well, the joke's on them, because today the Jungle section, which was basically dead until the Women's Thread was created, is probably the liveliest and most interesting section of the board, thanks to its various, mainly female-dominated threads.
So yeah, ladies (and a handful of guys), old and new, we did good. Cheers!

14 hours ago, Frey said:23 hours ago, Whiskey Rose said:I agree with this, a good friend of mine cannot fully express her love in a verbal, demonstrative way either...even to her own immediate family..so she shows it by feeding people..Sounds weird i know, but the more she cares for you, the more food she piles your way .. sounds like Axl is similar in the way he expresses his feelings...
I actually know a lot of people like this. Not necesssarily about the food (though that too ), but people who try to show their love and affection in alternative ways in general. It seems to be very common among people in Axl's generation and older. I guess because many of them still grew up in very repressed or "emotionally constipated" environments.
On 28.5.2017 at 10:44 PM, Tori72 said:On 28.5.2017 at 10:10 PM, Frey said:Ultimately, I think it comes down to what Doug Goldstein, Beta and Slash all have either said or at least alluded to: Axl doesn't really know how to express love and affection (or at least he didn't really know how to do so back in the day) and so he makes up for it by throwing tons of presents, money and opportunities at people he likes. Or writes songs/holds speaches about these people. "Grand gestures", Slash once called it when talking about this and I think he was spot on.
Totalle agree, I think that's what it comes down to.
22 hours ago, Blackstar said:And this, if it's really the case, doesn't have to do with whether Axl has been affectionate to women specifically, it's about him and people in general.
I remember Pamela Manning saying that Axl didn't forget about her when he became successful, but he "took care of" her. I assume that by "taking care of" she meant that he helped her financially. He probably did the same with other people from their circle in the early days, both men and women. Also, talking about Axl giving presents: Courtney Love is not a very reliable source, but she has said that Axl bought Corvettes for all the stripper girls when he made money.
I agree with you guys, but I do think Axl probably has made some progress in showing his affection or love in other ways as well. Meaning in ways that aren't necessarily material or financial. I wouldn't have described him as a cuddly guy back in the day (well, except with Slash maybe ), but nowadays he does appear quite touchy-feely (thanks @Frey lol) and even sweet-natured at times. He's probably become better at putting things into words too.
When Doug Goldstein, Beta and Slash said these things they were taking about Axl in the 80s and early 90s. Slash was recounting an incident from the mid 80s; Dougie talked about how Axl loved/loves Slash, Izzy and Duff so incredibly much, but he was just really, really shitty at showing it and letting them know back then.
Beta talked about Axl being all awkward about physical affection when she came into his life, said he wasn't used to all the hugging and kissing that was common in their family because he never received good night kisses as a child or something. And about how Axl wanted to learn to give and receive love. And I think she also said something about how one of the reasons for him wanting a child was his desire to love someone unconditionally.
But Beta also said that Axl had gotten much better at this kind of thing (showing love and affection) and was used to it now ("now" being 2001 or so when these weird interviews took place). And I think it shows. Nowadays even more so than back in 2001 or 2006 (I'm often struck by how radically different Axl seems to his younger self and I'm not talking about his looks here).
Basically, I think by the early 90s, Axl was very aware that he was severely lacking in the "communicating to people that you love them and care for them" department and like many other things about himself he wanted to change it. And I'll admit I do think he probably learned a lot from Beta and her family in this regard. If I were forced to say one good thing about TB, it'd probably be that I'm glad for all the cuddles and kisses they bestowed upon him, even though I'm not fond of many of the long-term consequences all that bonding brought with it.
2 hours ago, Alja said:All my life I get on better with men than women. To have male friends depends on women`s attitude and behavior. I don`t care if they want to screw me or what they dream about or whatever, as long as they accept status quo. If we take in count that young men would screw everything with circulation... As a men friend you`ll get to know things you actually did never want to know. With good "mimicry" you find yourself in the middle of the boy squad debating another girl`s body with appreciation. You will dry male tears no your shoulder and discuss guy how to get his crush or how other women work. I like long talks with men, because they usually talk about more interesting things than gossip everything what moves. I get overdosed with estrogen so easy that I even visit toilets without another girl.
My best, that soulmate friend is gay man. I know him more than half of my life but he went out of closet like two years ago, he was even dating women before that. There are girls easy to get if you want to play straight. With gays is also great that you can share your in awe for beauty of men, which you can mention in hetero-friendship, but not share the feeling.
I have several "bromances" with not related straight men. Some men I just know for so long that sex would feel more like incest.
The factor needed to be count in friendship making potential is how much sex speaks to particular person. They will tell you that having sex is the best thing in all the universe (or restrict it so much you become curious). For some people having sex doesn`t work. They can make love with few people that attract them that way to enjoy it, but mostly having sex ends up in disappointment and having sex for having sex or having sex of desperation is best way to feel sucked out, dirty and disappointed. I am talking also about men. Sometimes you have core honest long night talks.
As I am not typical woman and I tend to think "like a man", even with pure woman look, men way of thinking and argumentation works like a solid contraception. Guys will bitch about women behavior all day long, but that`s what they love.
Sorry, but this post is so full of toxic and misogynist nonsense I just had to comment on it. This whole "I'm not like the other girls, I'm different than all the other boring, superficial girls, so I only hang out with guys, because guys are more interesting" shit needs to stop.
1) Men are not more interesting to hang out with than women because just like men, all women are different and have different personalities and interests. Not all women are vapid idiots who only care about gossip, shoes and make-up or whatever you're implying here.
2) And even if a woman is into stuff that is typically considered feminine, so what? There is nothing wrong with that. You're perpetuating a value judgment here that is rooted in patriarchic society where everything male is normal and good and everything female is automatically inferior and less valuable therefore.
3) Having male friends is nothing to be proud of and certainly not something you need to change your "attitude and behavior" for. You either have male friends because your life circumstances worked out that way or you don't.
This post, combined with your other recent (and severely fucked up) posts about domestic violence here in this thread makes me think you suffer from a huge amount of internalized misogyny or something. Please inform yourself some more on these subjects, if only for your own sake. It's disconcerting to see so much negativity towards women from someone who is a woman herself.

Izzy was there with Axl at a music festival. Seeing those two on stage together was the highlight of my young life back then lol.
I still remember going "awwww" when they hugged and the way they smiled at each other
Izzy was there for quite a few songs, 6 or 7 I think. And Baz was also there. Having Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin and Sebastian Bach on one stage made me feel like I'd time-travelled back into the 80s. I mean I didn't actually get to live the 80s, but you know what I mean

I would like to be closest to the stage as possible but I don't know if that is wise or not, being short and all... So, someone here who can help me out?
Hah, no. Never seen a concert at the Olympia Stadium in Munich before. But going by past concert experiences with stadiums, I assume there will be different entrances for different sections of the stadium. It was that way with the Axl/DC show I saw in Vienna for example and I know it will also be the same way for the GNR show this summer in Vienna (takes place in the same stadium and my Vienna ticket says "Red entrance" - same as it was with AC/DC, they had color-coded the different entrances back then as well). I assume the Olympia Stadium in Munich might have a similar system. But then again, I just checked my Munich ticket and there's no specific entrance listed on it, so who the hell knows
Apart from that, everything @killuridols and @Andy14 said is good advice. I'll try to be there as soon as I can (within reason, I'm not one of these people who enjoys camping outside of the venue lol), so I guess I'll be there around 2 or 3 in the afternoon (if everything goes according to plan).
Also I have to say I'm slowly starting to get really excited about these shows
I've seen Axl twice now and I've seen Izzy once, but I've never seen Slash and Duff live in any way. I'm really looking forward to finally seeing these two (and my favorite ginger fireball as well of course lol).
And also because the Olympia stadium in Munich is where the Estranged video was filmed, iirc. I loved watching the Estranged video when I was a kid and it's kind of surreal to me to be going to the stadium from that video and see the same people there again finally

Same questions goes for the other guys as well. What happend to Duff and Slash to loose themselves that much in drugs and substances? I wonder about this, whether this curiosity for drugs is related to how safe and loved you feel at home (or what and if parents can do anything about it). But that might derail this thread to much so just take it as a footnote.
Izzy's family actually seems to be relatively normal and unproblematic (especially when compared to Axl's or Steven's). He gets along well with both of his parents these days as far as I know. The only thing that might have negatively impacted him (that we know about) was his parents getting divorced. But like @beautifulanddamned said, that happens to a lot of kids. I also remember reading somewhere that Izzy's mother never really got over her husband leaving the family and was very bitter about it, so that might have caused some tension as well. I also vaguely remember Izzy saying something about being annoyed by his father's comments when he was younger or something (I think it might have been about his father disapproving of Izzy wanting to become a professional musician).
On the positive side, Izzy always seems to have been very fond of his mom. He got defensive over his mom when he was a kid in that one story Dano Kildsig shared, and also called her a saint or something later on in an interview where he talked about his mom always allowing him and Axl to make noise in their garage. I also remember us talking about Izzy's mom giving Axl a Christmas (or birthday?) present. And he also kicked drugs at his mom's house.
And as has been mentioned Izzy's dad was the one who rescued him from L.A. when he hit a low point (and then probably brought him to his mom).
That's basically all I know about Izzy's parents. All in all, they seem normal and caring enough to me. Everything else can probably explained by things being different back then. Less methods of communication = harder to check up on your kids. And I also get the impression that people were more innocent and trusting back then. You constantly hear all these stories about people hitch-hiking all over the country in the 70s and stuff like that.
4 hours ago, beautifulanddamned said:It blows my mind that any young kid would have the balls to go out to a city like LA with no place to stay/ no job/ little money. Where do you go? What do you do? It would be so easy to be taken advantage of/ start taking advantage of other people. At least Axl had Izzy to look for. I wonder who Izzy knew when he very first went to LA? Anyone? Axl and Izzy's books would be so good, dammit.
Izzy's and Axl's late teenage years/early twenties and them making their way to L.A (and their struggle to get by there) is something I'm endlessly curious about. I have so many questions about that time. So yeah, write some books, goddamnit
Izzy has never talked much about these years, but the bits and pieces Axl has mentioned (like him riding buses for days when he was trying to find Izzy, the hitch-hiking rape/near-rape, his bus station troubles, sleeping in abandoned buildings or on the street, etc.) are enough to nearly give me an anxiety attack just thinking about it. I mean, we know what they looked liked back then, and thinking about these tiny, skinny small town kids trying to get by in a big city or getting into cars with strange people... it makes me shudder. I'd go all helicopter mom on their asses, but I grew up in a very different time than they and their parents did.

It's quite possible you're right, I probably just forgot the last word while trying to remember
Oh so that is his name. And yeah, he looks scary, but he was quite nice.
Thank you, but the quality of the pictures is really bad and I would have liked to take some close-ups as well, but that wasn't possible with my shitty phone camera.
Andrei Gillott. Not new at all, he's been around for a long time. We've discussed him a lot in the Women's Thread. Also "works" for Leonardo DiCaprio, among other people.
The front row right at the rail was mostly taken by people with Early entrance and VIP tickets, but after that it wasn't too crowded. I was standing in the second row and I still had a little bit of breathing room around me. You had even more space a couple of rows further back. So I'd say the GC area was decently full, but not cramped.
