  1. Could "this is your victory" be meant as "I don't care that much"?

I kinda understood it as him saying if it weren't for the fans and them voting and supporting GNR they wouldn't be inducted so as the fans made it happen it's their victory. But of course only Axl knows what he meant

Yes, that's how I understood it as well. People here are reading way too much into it again.

  2. Buckethead:

    Got nothing on the others.

I've seen Buckerhead's unmasked photo before but it's the first time i've noticed that finger - is it really that long???:shock:

No way is that his finger  I guess it's some weird gadget or something...

  3. Cool never saw the izzy one before....

Could you post baby gunner pics of the real GNR like Tommy or DJ?

I don't have any of the current line-up, but I'll see if I can dig some up...

  4. I was sorting through some old files yesterday and came across these. Thought I'd share, because they're really cute :heart:

(and sorry for all the links, but mygnr apparently doesn't allow more than 10 pictures per post, so I just pasted the link addresses for the other pictures below)

  5. I know this is a off topic but I was reading an article and it mentioned that Axl's mothers maiden name is Lintner. That's a well-known Jewish name. Was she raised Jewish I wonder? Rose is also a Jewish name and it mentions that his grand-parents were Jewish.. I know he was raised Pentascostal church but that was because of his step-father. This looks like his heritage is all Jewish. I Just thought it was interesting.

Lintner/Lindner is mainly a German surname and not necessarily a Jewish one. Rose is also a surname that's just as likely to belong to a non-Jewish person than a Jewish one. Saying his heritage is all Jewish just based on the names is pure speculation.

On Wiki it says: W. Axl Rose (born William Bruce Rose)

I though there was a Bailey in there somewhere :shrugs:

Why is this so hard? He was born as William Bruce Rose and his mother later on changed it to William Bruce Bailey, when she married his step-father. But the original surname he was born with is Rose.

  6. Okay, I'll play... if it were up to me, Axl should

    - get rid of the mustache

    - keep his hair like it is now, just grow it a little longer

    - get rid of the ill-fitting jackets and just keep the clothes a little simpler in general

    - tone it down with all the bling

(and yeah, I'm a girl, too, so I'm allowed to have opinions on how I find Axl most attractive B) )

  7. Once Axl rejected Slash's songs, the band as we knew it was over. They stopped compromising.

The band as we knew it, was already over the moment Steven was forced to leave and most definately after Izzy left! Than all of them had already had stopped compromising.

But this thread don't belong in this section.

There was smoke years before the fire, remember the comment concerning the "dead" photo?

,but I agree this isnt the section for ancient disputes.

    "Dead" photo??

  8. I actually always thought Axl and Kurt had quite a few things in common, but I guess he didn't want to see that.

And heh, never heard the story about Eddie Vedder and Kurt before, so thanks. Eddie Vedder is my favorit grunge vocalist after Layne.

  9. I've got a serious dislike for the holier-than-thou attitude that some grunge fans have as well. But I guess it's not surprising-- people like Kurt Cobain were very vocal in their hate for all things Axl Rose, GnR and what they stood for (in his opinion). I read a whole interview with him once where he basically did nothing but bash and make fun of Axl.

In general, I'd have to agree with the impression that there are way more GnR fans who like grunge than the other way round.

Back on topic, I love Alice In Chains and I would love to hear Axl sing some of their songs. It's a nice thing to imagine :)

  10. It wasn't that bad of an interview, we did learn something like his attitude about HOF for instance. People have been speculating about HOF since they were announced as nominees and Axl let us know that he's not totally against it like many people thought he would be so there = new info.

That part of the interview made me really happy actually. To be honest, I was already picturing one of these epically embarrassing HOF fame inductions (like the Blondie one, or the Van Halen induction), but I feel a little more optimistic now.

  11. Definitely photoshopped, but it's cute

Speaking of Duff, I was kind of surprised to hear Axl say that he wasn't convinced that the whole meeting was really just a strange coincidence. Wonder what was about? Does he think Duff somehow set it up or something?

I don't get why I never noticed it was photoshopped until now, I guess I just saw what I wanted to see!

Sounds like it, but he went along with it telling Duff he could come and play at the show if he wanted to so I guess it didn't bother him if it was set up. Or maybe it really was a coincidence but Axl found it to be too much of a coincidence to actually be a coincidence if you get what I mean but either way it's because of that Duff is opening for GNR so coincidence or not = win!

I read Duff's account of the whole story in his book and it sounded very genuine and I believe him. Axl's a little over-suspicious here, imo

But yeah, either way it's win and maybe we're gonna get some more real pictures of Axl and Duff together out of this whole thing

  12. Since the Chinese era began, Axl has met and spoken to Duff (London), Izzy (multiple times), Matt (NYC), Gilby (Los Angeles), and Steven (Las Vegas, I think).

Correct me if I'm wrong but was Duff's appearance in London the first time the guys had spoken to each other since Duff left the band?

Axl and Izzy reconnected before the Hammerstein shows in 2006?

Axl played with Gilby in 2000.

Steven was at one of the band's warm up shows before their American tour in 2006?

Matt gave him a ride home?

I've seen a picture of Axl and Duff from 2006 so they've definetly spoken before London 2010, I'll try and find the picture if you wanna see.

Interesting  I for one would like to see it, because I've never seen or even heard of such a picture existing and I'm usually quite on top of things when it comes to pictures.

  13. Yeah, the only thing that comes to my mind is Slash saying he was annoyed with Axl because he wanted to be like Pearl Jam one week and like Nine Inch Nails the next. Or something like that. Slash says a lot of things...

  14. Am I the only one who reads : Axl and Dijon on that Metal show <_<

No, that's what I read the first time I saw that thread, too! And I briefly wondered why Axl would bring his cat to an interview before my brain caught up with me

  15. Only once, in 2006.

But it was one of the shows with Izzy, so I'm ridiculously happy about at least having seen Axl and Izzy together on stage, even if I never had the chance to see the original line-up.

Yeahh I saw Izzy too in 2006 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands!!!! That was so great!

I saw them in Austria, at the NovaRock Festival. And yes, it really was great
