Thinking about this further, it really s!cked for the band that the songs leaked. I was like everyone else listening to the leak. It's clear now as to why GNR didn't want those songs to be leaked.  Those songs simply weren't ready to be heard. They needed work.

Yeah, but the released versions to me highlighted that they didn't do any work of note to better them. (sorry assuming you're talking about village demos and latest releases etc).

The new songs are bang average at best, and I'm a gnr nerd giving them plenty of time to digest.

I don't doubt that they could create a cool and good album, by maybe dedicating 4 weeks in the studio, playing as live as possible with a producer that will push them and challenge them not nod and yes them. For all they're rock n roll attitude, they take themselves far to seriously and imo it fucks their art in a negative way. Genuinely think if they enjoyed themselves playing together, and created an environment in the studio that reflected and encouraged that the result would be a great album (not necessarily AFD great or ground breaking, who cares about that, but a good fucking guns album ppl and they can enjoy).

  2. For me. I just want them to book studio time for a month and record an album. Don't care if it's in the style of appetite, nor do I care  whatever style it ends up being, or whatever style or vision they want. But just book a small window of time, hire a producer too, and bash out a dozen songs or more songs, construct an album from the best ones and release it.

Just keep it authentic and honest and see what happens. They're all experienced enough and talented enough to knock up something great in that time frame imo. It shouldn't have to be ground breaking or the best work they've ever done. For me hearing what they can organically come up with would do it for me.

Do that, don't take it too seriously, and release it.

    Won't happen of course.

What I think they'll actually do:

Keep drip feeding CD leftovers piece meal. Then combo them all up as an EP/album. Talk for years after that about writing a new album, which never really eventuates. Eventually we'll get to fairwell tours and that'll be that.

It is a fad though. Vinyl sales are on the up – it largely went away. 10-20 years ago there wasn't 10 different colour options of vinyl or entire sections of shops like HMV devoted to it. I get that there's a collectors market for it, and that's fine, but buying vinyls to listen to them – as someone's only means if listening to something – is plain daft. Why would you go out of your way to listen to the worst version of something?

Modern vinyls aren't even made right! They're the same digital files put onto a vinyl – they're a square peg in a round hole. They're low quality pieces of crap made to sponge off gullible fans.

Old vinyls? Whatever, good at the time but outdated tech. Modern vinyls? Utter bullshit. They're for putting on a shelf and looking at, not for listening to.

That's not really true at all. There are of course plenty of digital to vinyl versions out there and the community in general calls that out. That though is just normal, any time a company can make something cheaper and easier they will.

But those a rare. Majority of bands and labels use legit pressing plants from legit sources.

Personally love getting releases on vinyl and it's my main source for listening. Certainly bands and artists I purchase don't do this digital to vinyl bullshit you appear to claim is norm.

Also, even back in the vinyl hayday there were good and bad pressings etc.

Axl’s ‘fear’ of Matt was probably more of a rooted in his discomfort with Matt’s unwillingness to entertain all of Axl’s dictatorial aspirations. Axl knew duff, slash and Izzy were a soft touch and would lay down rather than challenge him. The slightest sniff of insubordination or challenge to authority  scares control freaks.

Musicians are generally wimps who avoid physical fighting, as they should. Don’t think anyone was worried about that.

Matt comes across as one of the softest in the whole group. As well as the least disingenuous.

Not sure about the musician wimps comment though.

  5. The song is growing on me now after a handful of sporadic listens.

I have all the leaks, lockers leaks etc but never really properly listened to them (apart from pre CD leaks that were in heavy rotation at the time). So although knew of perhaps couldn't tell you what type of song it was etc.

My initial reaction was underwhelming, but it's definitely growing on me. I think I'm just waiting to be hit in the face with a new song that is shorter, faster, rocking and balls out. Hence the underwhelming side of things initially.

Not sure why there are so many complaints about Perhaps, especially when u take a step back and just appreciate a new song without 88, 91 level expectations of response.

There's something there to work with. Stage show needs to increase the lighting intensity....for a new song that helps, especially on the chorus energy injection. Axl needs to work out his highs and lows better or just save the highs for the chorus "All alllllone"....Need to work out the ending better, as it just suddenly ended (Axl) I think we WILL.get better versions....Axl needs to have the song in his ears on repeat until Monday and it'll help with timing, etc. Overall, the best end of week in GNR land this side of a day in November 2008....I don't think many would argue against that....

Yikes. Was the crowd like that all gig or just for Perhaps? Appreciate we're all getting older but that looks like a terrible atmosphere.

Axl sounded shit, Guitars were horrible and the nothing much changed in the setlist. We need 2002 lineup back rightnow!

Haven't heard anything but saw a posted setlist and there was certainly songs there that haven't been played for ages. By GnRs standards that's a big shift in setlist.

I saw a post somewhere here that "Anything Goes" might be played? Appearently it was mentioned on Duff's podcast.

I can already hear in my head exactly how mickey that chorus is gonna sound lol.

and from that guitar tech setlist photo, if recent, Breakdown was on there 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Duff has podcast?

Had no idea, will have to look it up.

Cool man. Looking forward to listening, will do properly in a few hours when around decent speakers/headphones.

    Enjoying this.

Sorry, super late response. Started with the tracks you mentioned you were singing on, now chewing through the album (particularly like the slow down part of Hash w. solo, wasn't expecting that). Nice work - Congrats.

Hi guys, accidently posted in MyWorld but felt like this should be in Nice Boys. Sorry, mods.

Anyways, my band put out our debut full studio album this past weekend. We had a really good show and I am very happy with how the record turned out. We started recording it 3 years ago and would chip away at it here and there. Took a lot of work. We are pretty much all amateurs that do this for fun. I play most of the lead guitar and I sing on Hash and Lost in Space.

Anyways, I hope some more people give it a whirl. I'd call it garage rock/punk or something-

  11. Just listened to the song properly finally.

Not necessarily a Foos fan, although did enjoy their first few albums when they came out and still spin them.

That said, it's a cool song - definitely a Foos song - but mostly I think the drums are brilliant as is the sound of them.

So I decided to end my Star Wars “hiatus” and binged thru the rest of bad batch season 2 and all of Mando season 3 this weekend. Both were good, but not perfect.

I've enjoyed Mando so far. Nice and simple show, doesn't get too deep and serious, an easy enjoyable watch.

The movies you mentioned, not bothered about the New Jedi Order, however I'm hoping Dawn of the Jedi is so far removed from everything it'll be good. Heir to the Empire I'll watch as invested myself in Mando and will do the same with Ashoka, but if the later is trash then I'll skip it.

I personally don't think his rasp voice , or range will ever come back . And that's okay. A lot of people sing their lungs out , and don't even get pay attention to his struggling voice . I am glad I got to see his magical voice in 06/07, and in 2016. I've said before in other threads . GNR and Axl will always be my favorite, but for me personally, the time has come ,not bother seeing them live . If you used to see Michael Jordan in his Championship run, would you really want to see him in the Wizards? Maybe, just once . But I would hate that image of a slower older Jordan taking over my memory of a great run . That's how I think of Axl right now .

Yeah I tend to agree with u dude.

I do think, IF, there was ever more new studio recordings he'd absolutely nail the vocals.

Also I'm not sure he has lost much in regards to his range, more so the rasp within that. His clean voice can still bounce all over the spectrum - it just doesn't sound too hot live particularly in a rock n roll environment, and more specifically GnR environment and expecting that certain tone/rasp.

  14. Doesn't get boring. But knowing you've seen it before, know how the show is going to evolve, means you can enjoy each gig in different ways.

Not seen guns in ages now, and didnt bother last time I could. But in the past I saw them a bunch regularly. So figure I can answer.

Found I enjoyed them all in different ways. Some at the front not missing a beat, others turning up a little late enjoying the company and vibe leading to it, other times enjoying drink/smoke breaks, roaming about, knowing when I'd don't want to miss something.

Also followed them to different cities and countries which was a good excuse to travel and see shit with them as the background event.

  15. Lined up:

Kaleo, Helmet, Dave Chappelle, Bad Religion, and Arch Enemy.

The later I know nothing about, but enjoy pretty much all live music, and mate asked if I wanna go with.

Bad Religion and Helmet will be a blast of nostalgia for me.

  16. Outside of the The Garden, all the UYI videos are way to corny for me. However being a kid at the time, I remember enjoying them.....then I remember shifting that feeling as they were played way too much, then I started looking at them more in a lol way and enjoying them from that perspective.

My favourite video would be Paradise City though, by a long mile.

Edit: Garden of Eden (not The Garden). My bad.
