If you can't see the comparison between Axl and Kanye, then I don't know what to tell you. If it's due to some bias towards Kanye and a refusal to acknowledge something you enjoy being compared to him, just remember plenty of folks feel the exact same about Axl for the exact same reasons.

Nottingham and Derby both have showings and i live in between, would be rude not too

Part of being the "Hardcore Fanbase" is never being happy, take Star Wars as an example, hating the new star wars films and animations it is almost accepted that you are a bigger Star Wars fan if you hate the new stuff the rereleases and George Lucas in general

If I was in Axls position I would have been tempted to put the songs i wasn't too confident about on CD knowing full well that the album could not live up to the hype of the wait

Obviously not a full proof plan but definitely something i would toy with.

Okay, so with all of the setlist complaints going around at the minute and people talking about CD2 etc, it got me thinking.

If CD2 came out, and featured songs like

Lets say 14 songs for arguments sake.

what songs should be dropped from the current setlist? Jungle? Rocket Queen? Sorry?

Guns n Roses is already going out there and playing probably the biggest rock show night after night with 33/34 songs being played, so what do you think?

people on this site complain that the band doesn't move away from the old material enough. How does opening with Jungle instead of Chinese help the band move away from the old material?

When we say new material we mean good new material.

If you don't like the current material, there are other sections of the forum to discuss the material you do like.

Unless of course, you're only here to complain about things you don't like, in which case I would suggest you find other things in life that maybe you will enjoy more instead of focusing on things you don't enjoy. Both times I have seen GnR they have opened with Chinese, and the only better opening i can think of is Aces High with the Churchill speech by Iron Maiden.

Sure I would love to have seen the opening where axl screams "You know where the fuck you areee" but CD is a perfect fit or a new Guns n Roses

Leeds was a badass show (2010) blew everything else away, but the crowd were so shit, I hate the atmosphere around Reading and Leeds it tends to be 80% well off middle class kids, who think they are 'slumming it like hippies' because they are camping, every single one of them wearing a plaid shirt because they are soooo badass..... the rest of the crowd are people from Yorkshire who go because its close

I would agree with you a little the band had broken up after Lies, or if UYIs hadn't have been released, however since that huge mixture of material on UYI (from Perfect Crime to Dont Cry, RNDTH to Estranged etc) I think it is obvious the bands direction could be anything it wanted to be.

Axl could have released an album full of different versions of songs just using a piano like Nine Inch Nails did with Still, or he could have made a Heavy Metal Concept album like Iron Maidens 7th son of a 7th son and it could fit in, thats the beauty of Guns N Roses for me.

Also when you consider that Axls biggest influences contain Elton John and Freddie Mercury, is it a surprise, you can pick either of those 2 artists and cherry pick song vastly different (Dragon Attack to Bohemian Rhapsody, March of The Black Queen to Don't Try Suicide etc) and for Elton (Yellow Brick Road - to Bitch is back to Can you feel the love or your song)

I think Axl is as talented as any of his influences and far more talented than any of his contemporaries its just remains to be shown

Ronnie James Dio was 67 on the last Heaven And Hell tour, and he could have gone much longer had it not been for the cancer. Everyone in Iron Maiden is at least 54, and they're at the top of their game. Alice Cooper is 63. 50 is not that old.

And none of them are relevant today

the last thing I want to see GN'R become is a band known for its past accomplishments but unfortunately some will agree that is already happening. I think ChiDem made them somewhat relevant today but I dont want to see Axl go down the same road as Iron Maiden or whomever. I'd rather see GN'R as a relevant band.

Don't know where you are from but in the UK I see more Iron Maiden shirts than any other band I would guess that 40% of all band shirts and merch i see in the street are Iron Maidne, i think they are more relevant today than they were in the 80's

The vocals are different than Maiden. Axl's voice has always been about attitude, raw force, which appears to be hit and miss (some called it Mickey Mouse) during the current tour. Maiden tend to sing in a more controlled manner, like most singers really.

But not thinking about vocals though the question was to do with relevancy, and the amount of tshirts you see the "young rockers" donning is directly attached to how relevant they are surely, and around where i am from its like this

11-15 year olds - Iron Maiden, Blink 182 for boys My Chemical Romance and Bullet for my valentine For Girls

15 - 20 ish - Boys Iron Maiden, Foo Fighter, GnR, Girls, My Chem GnR, HIM

i wasn't there but i don't understand that. If i owned 1/4 of GN'R i wouldn't sign that contract for anything. You would have to kill me.

I Bet that there are some things that we don't know yet.

Slash was not signing away his ownership of GNR. He was acknowledging in writing what everybody already knew, that Axl Rose created Guns N' Roses and should the partnership ever end, Axl would have the right to create a new partnership using the name he'd originally created.

When Slash and Duff end up quitting the band years later, leaving Axl as the only remaining member from the classic lineup with ownership rights (Dizzy was not given ownership when he joined), Axl had the right to continue to use the GNR name without Slash and Duff.

It was kind of boneheaded, but when they already experienced a riot, and were put into a situation where another would've happened, what else were they going to do?

It was already agreed to before the tour started that as part of the renegotiation with the label, it would be acknowledged that Axl had created the name and that should the band partners ever split, Axl would be allowed to continue the band with new members.

Ok, but how do you know that Axl (or his manager or lawyers representing him) didn't say something like: "If you don't give me the name, I'm not touring the [use Your Illusion] records" just before the UYI tour? Cancelling a two year long tour before right before it's outset would've probably bankrupted the band.

at that point Axl and the rest of the band would be contractually obliged to go on tour, i was under the impression that the entire name argument was so that if a member left or died then that would not cause an issue for the remaining members should they want to release more material.

if Axl had held the band captive before a gig / tour the way we were told in the past then surely a contract signed under duress has no clout
