I'll tell you what: Talk to me about the mix, give me details, elaborate on your argument..a few time codes, maybe?  Points of reference where you've noted changes so that I can see where you're coming from.

I am a pro musician and studio engineer. I worked with Guns. It's not the best but that is how Axl wanted it

I really don't believe that it is...

    Clearer?  Yes

    Higher quality?  Yes

A different mix would mean instrumental parts re-inserted which weren't present or audible before, possibly extended pieces or different takes selected, a different balance between where each instrument sits within the frequency spectrum...all tell-tale signs of a re-mix, a la Rush's Vapor Trails or Pearl Jam's Ten from 2009.

This is really just the same thing we had, in shaper focus.

    you got it!

What do you mean he was removed? I guess he's not credited because he didn't co-write it.

    He wrote the song

I have got some sweet open-back cans and closed-back, as well as a modestly decent monitor setup for my own mixing projects, this official release is the same mix as the leak :)

Then you need better cans hunny :)

Is the question about the fidelity being better, or it being the same mix like you originally asserted?

If you have good gear you can hear the better bits of sound. However, I think this could have been better by far.

  3. The mix is definitely better on the released version vs the demo. Not perfect but better. Plus some of the crap strings have been removed in the pre-chorus. Can hear Slash more on the wah and it's panned across speakers and the rest of the string arrangement is clearer when required. Axl sounds better but it's clipping at times.

Why was Tommy removed from the writing credits is my question.

The mix is literally exactly the same though, the only difference is there isn't massive data compression causing the high end to be all funky and so there is improved fidelity in that regard

    Get better headphones sweetheart

The more I listen to The General the more I like it. I just wish it emphasized the Beltrami stuff more. I always imagined it would have this intense intro based on the intro to the live shows all those years ago.

Agree, but this was a leak. Lets see what comes next.

The Euro recording studio got pissed at the reaction when it became clear Axl and Slash were not into their mix. So they kicked the song out to the internet. Classy.

  6. Fortus for sure on the outro solo's

The bass line is 100% Stinson wrote but played by Duff.

    Slash has added riff's.

I am not keen on this tbh. I preferred the orchestral version they used as a concert intro. Hopefully in december we hear a better version. This was leaked by the studio in europe to try and kill interest after GnR said the mix was crap.

I’m surprised that with all the GNR crazies out there that no one has attempted to do this despite the risks.

The mix is not great is it? Finck kicks off a high note from the demo solo then Slash just doesn't. They actually went to a studio and missed that? It's a mess really imo. For a couple of musicians to miss that.. omfg

Axl's old vocals are tremendously enhanced though. No surprise there.
