The problem to begin with is that they are frustrated. They ought to feel a bit embarrassed about themselves for still not getting over the fact that Guns N' Roses doesn't release music frequently. I mean, how many years of frustration does it take for people to wise up and stop being frustrated over something that they can't affect the slightest? Like getting frustrated over a intrinsic part of nature. Are they frustrated over humans not having wings, too? "Aaaargh, why can't we have wing, I want to flyyyyyy!" I have no sympathy for fans of this band who has been around for a while and still hasn't taken to heart that GN'R in many ways do not operate as a normal band and if they keep expecting it to operate as a normal band they will keep getting disappointed. Complaining to one's spouse because a rock band doesn't release enough music is grounds for divorce immediately...

My point was the frustration is merely quote unquote. Not a real thing, just natural intermediate reaction. I could use the same token and say you guys seem to be frustrated all the time about some people complaining. Well, are you? That's for yourselves to answer.

    Still the same story.

  2. This is an evergreen topic, and it should never be perceived as one-sided. It’s true that people should come to terms with certain things, I agree. But then, where else would you vent your "frustration" other than on a fan forum? Try telling this shit your wife/partner every day and see how long it will take before they tell you to piss of with this. And as for this alleged frustration, it always has been here and always will be. It’s not about entitlement or desperation or god knows what. It’s about being in contact on a daily basis with something you’ve loved for a large part of your life. And since this thing is GN'R, which operates in mysterious ways, it indeed can get tedious and frustrating in the sense when you see how other bands operate, what coulda been but wasn’t, what still could be yet... tempus fugit.
After some time, sure, you sort of resign or come to terms with it. But then something happens, like another botched release or another "soon, we all wanna do it, things are coming" for an umpteenth time, and the circle starts again, inevitably. All these fans’ criticized reactions are absolutely natural in most cases. You can always find strawman/negative examples of folks who indeed do nothing else but complain, but that’s like 1% and the rest just react normally, i.e. sometimes they’re positive, sometimes negative (like myself). (Although if you only wanna focus on the negative, then the negative is all you’ll see around you.) And god knows this band hasn’t been giving us plenty of positive things to be happy about recently. Yeah, yeah, new deep cuts, a few old demos, sure.
So it shouldn’t be about wanting everyone to see it your way. After all, if you’re talking about coming to terms with some reality, then you yourselves should also come to terms with the fact some people will react like this most of the time. That’s acceptance which should be done on your part for a change. Otherwise we’ll get this never-ending complaining about complaining, which is what’s been going on here quite a lot as well.
I always say, look at things from all sorts of sides (and definitely at least two).
I think ya all catch my drift.

  3. I think he actually cemented his legacy by playing with Michael Jackson. He showed he wasn't just a unique guitarist of a world-famous junkie rock band but also an icon who can play in other music worlds as well. Plus being known as an overall nice fella and distinguishable by the top hat, this guy is accepted and praised by pretty much anyone. When Axl went nuts back in the day, he was opposing (kinda mocking) him, doing his own thing, chatting in late-night shows, gathering sympathy from everyone. There's literally nothing negative to find about this guy. And everybody has heard of Sweet Child O' Mine. So there you go.
    He's a beast live, too.

If you have a lot of spare time, look at the old New Album thread and see how many people thought that GNR wouldn't even release the CD-era stuff (I refuse to call it leftovers, when it's clearly not the case). Hell, there were people arguing that Axl didn't have any vocals recorded for other songs past the Village sessions.

I know it's easy to get skeptical with this band, but the reality is just that they take forever to do things, but they eventually do anyways.

Just don't say Pele's name 3 times, or he'll reappear!

  5. You guys (previous page) are getting riled up over nothing IMO. There’s nothing that new or distinguishable that we haven’t heard before in dozens of slightly different versions. Those Duff’s words can mean anything from a single in a couple of months to another silence at least for the time until a new tour is happening. After all, Slash promised a summer single at one point, only for it to arrive with a year’s delay.
No reason to get hysterical about this. Yet another "we’ll see, working hard, plenty of material, we all wanna do it, soon is the word..." etc., read my signature.
It would be actually quite unprecedented for them to just release a single without a supporting tour (and we know no tour is happening this year, right?). Unless it’s something difficult to sing, so Axl could avoid it like that. But then, he knows people would still expect to hear it live once the machine gets on the road again, so... Idk. Again, anything is possible.
But for now, I take it as another day, another "promise". Nothing to write home about.

  6. Ha, I have basically no idea what’s going on there or why the whole thing seems so pompous and "big". I didn’t watch that movie and to date have no idea why it was also being connected with that war film (Oppenheimer?). Not that I care. I like being completely out of the loop sometimes, even if just for the reason you can then see things from the right perspective, if you know what I mean.
Good for Slash to be seen though; I like when they boys are out there in the spotlight, doing something interesting.
That’s my two cents anyway. Worthless, but they’re there!

No Axl is monumentally dissapointing. Guess those two are just never going to collaborate on a piece of new music for the rest of their lives? How hard would it have been for Axl to drag his lazy ass into a studio for one day to help out his friend who saved his entire band from playing bowling clubs?

Is it really, though? Disappointing – that means you were expecting it. But why? It’s not like Axl’s ever been a guest on any of Slash’s albums, is it.

Personally, I’m neither disappointed nor surprised, not even in the slightest.

    The single sounds great, btw.

  8. So what’s the verdict? Loving it so far. Good to finally see Rick again. The hand stuff was wild, but oh well.
The only thing I could do without are these goddamn cliffhangers. I mean yes, don’t worry, I’m gonna watch the entire show ffs!

  9. I’ve got about 4 or 5 new games – bought or even already downloaded – waiting for me, including gems like RDR2. And where am I instead, for about a thousandth time? That’s right, I’m messing around in the Harran slums, as the right maniac that I am.

This game is so unique, I can’t get enough of it.

Deep Purple just released a new animated music video for Smoke On the Water. And according to the credits there's AI technician too. I think this kinda video would have worked better for The General too.

An average forum user jerking off over an Emma Watson photo would have worked better for the General video...

I like this one from DP. Actually reminds me of PF’s The Wall from 1982 a tiny bit.

Not expecting anything in the slightest, no sir… you have to follow the trial of breadcrumbs, and none have been dropped… yet.

But, again, doesn’t negate the fact that there is no tangible reason why, at the very least, a single can’t drop without an accompanying tour. We all can wish/hope/you name it the band sees it like that too one day.

”Monsters”, for example, makes total sense… THEY know WE know about it (heck, many HAVE it lol) so we don’t need much fanfare with it. Drop it and get a headline or two out of Rolling Stone, etc. :P

Oh I'd love that, it's the best song so far after all. But it would be quite... unique for GN'R to drop a single without a supporting tour. Which doesn't mean it couldn't happen. However, I'd hope they'd do some proper goddamn promo in such case. Here's hoping.

  12. There’s also the possibility that Slash’s parts are long done. Half of 2018, almost entire 2019, entire 2020, half of 2021, half of 2022... all this was "no GNR tour" time. Sure, he was doing his solo too, but I think he had plenty of time to come up with some new tunes and copy paste his guitars in the old ones as well. So it may be just an Axl thing right now. As usual.
