I loved the Weiland album, although I know what you mean about the more metal tracks. But stuff like Get On Down, Till The Dust Is Gone and Aqualung are some of my favourite rock tracks of the 00s.

That is also my favourites from the record and those are really good.

I loved STP too, especially Purple and Tiny Music - way better than Velvet revolver  I think

  2. They have been better for each album!

Scott Weiland didnt really fit on their more metal tracks, but was good on their melodic songs. The Scott Stapp album was too much radio rock I think and now it s a more progressive metal album and Jeff Scott Soto can sing it all - great album

  3. Let there be anarchy is out now and is one of the most enjoyable releases with Bumblefoot on guitar.

Jeff Scott Soto is doing a helluva job too on vocals.

This is the third record, previously with Scott Weiland (Velvet revolver, STP) and Scott Stapp (Creed), but this is the best release by some margin. More metal and more progressive though :)

How did this song do in the charts? I can't find much info online. Did it get in the top 10 anywhere?

I dont think it did anything on any chart, but also think the band not pushed the release at all because its in fact a deeper cut with lesser general appreciation. I love that we finally got it, but it has no commercial appeal to the general public - Monsters might have or maybe Atlas.

Perhaps with the video being "pushed" did way better and were in some charts, think it peaked in the top 10 of the rock radio charts

  5. Here is a interesting article about all the new tracks and they think they all comes from an upcoming album:

The writer does not dislike any tracks, but like the more old school cuts better, "Hard Skool" and "Perhaps"

There’s nothing wrong with a great Rock n roll band playing that kind of music.

But I don’t think Guns fans ever minded variety. The original band managed to play rockers, ballads, acoustic, punk etc and most of it went down well.

The problem these days is just that the songs are shit.

They get even more shit the more they suffer from the Frankenstein approach that Axl is so fond of.

Its not shit - its great!

Thats just your opinion and my opinion, but what is shit is to take your bombastic meanings and speak it as a truth that you of course cant back up with any kind of proof

  7. OK.  My thoughts:

It is still a good song - would have fit on Chinese democracy, some of the same moods as Sorry

the mix - Must listen again but felt that the leaked mix had a better punch when the drum and guitar came in before chorus. Maybe cleaner and softer mix/master officially

I think the leak including Monsters was intentional, also based on the wording from Fernando - The general is a monster! He knew that the anticipation was HUGE for this song, but the song we thought were the General was Monsters (soul monster) Based on reactions it was a good thing, because most people dig Monsters and are more skeptical to the General.

It is a perfect B-side. Great and interesting song, not for everyone and not for the general (!?) public

Tbh, listening to it more, I wish “The General” was the A-side to “Monsters” instead of being the B-side to “Perhaps.”

Thematically, TG and Monsters gel together… not sure if I dig it as much coupled with “Perhaps” (if that makes any sense.)

Ultimately, I love all three songs, but it’s the question of the listening experience…

I usually play the general, Monsters and follow with State of grace - a trio of tunes with some darker themes then Perhaps is a feel good breather after that
