Yep, I remember in 90 in my high school first year I had long hair and Gnr t-shirt. I was cool. By 93 it was gone, Nirvana and Pearl Jam fans just run over me. I was dinosaur with long hair.

Personally think AFD and Lie's was perfect for me, plus MTV appearance made them big. UYI albums were probably overmixed (RnR must be unperfect, and pretty much all that things that Izzy and Slash said).

But videos tooooooo much. Slash emerging from water. Dolphins. Tanker. Wedding. It is like soapopera.

Thats because they stopped making music for high schoolers after AFD.

Even if Axl lurked here, which I doubt, there's no way he'll read that wall of text.  I didn't read it either.

But fuck it...let's pretend Axl really is lurking here and reading shit we write....in that case I just wanna say "sorry" for saying you were full of shit for 20 years and had only recorded the stuff that was released.  I see now that I was wrong.

Dude, wasnt he "Dexter" on this board like 10 years ago.  I KNOW he posted here. It was not on HTGTH

  3. UYI were PERFECT for their time. They both have something for everybody. Lots of misses, but band was at its creative peak. The tour kicked ass too. They were the biggest band in the world pre Nirvana for sure.

I do remember the radio stations in NYC playing Pearl Jam before Nirvana. I also remember watching Evenflow on MTV before Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Yeah. STP were huge back then too. Really hard to overstate how big that band was at the time.

  4. The only eras I never saw live were the Buckethead 2002 era and the NITL current era. I really only regret never seeing the Buckethead squad with goth Robin. I saw Jesus Robin and the first show with Bumble and it was awesome. I am actually more interested in anything that comes out from the Chinese demos than anything moving new forward. I think GNR is tapped out creatively. Would rather see/hear Axl DC again, which was awesome.

    Thats very cool.

Did they tease it and build to it all hour long? Or they played it right away? Did Piazza say he heard it before they played it that night or was he waiting to hear it for the first time?

I dont remember that well. I remember Axl calling into Trunk with Seb better though. That was in 2005 or 06. All those bootlegs were flying around and "wireless" was becoming a thing. :) I was in line behind Sebastian Bach at the first Hammerstein show in 06- cool guy!

    UPDATE

    Found this blurb:

    http://www.mtv.com/news/1474030/for-the-record-quick-news-on-axl-rose-justin-timberlake-courtney-love-metallica-jay-z-zz-top-more/

The strip club DJ totally mailed a copy of that CD to Mike Piazza.

The Eddie Trunk broadcast with "IRS", from what I can put together, was on August 30, 2003

I can honestly say i remember listening that Trunk show. Great times.

  7. There is no money in new music anymore..touring is where bands make their money............Axl will continue to milk the past as long as fans are willing to go pay to see his tribute band and he can support his lifestyle...........there is no incentive for him to make new music........

Best post of the thread. There is no rationale for Axl to record again- he would probably have to invest a fair amount of money to do so..in his mind he did what he set out to with CD.
